I don't know but even if you can the picture will be shitty. Most Region 1(north america) DVD's have anti piracy software encoded into thier information. The copy will have black lines and the color will be all screwed up and the picture

will go light and dark.

I don't believe anyone has figured out to crack the code.

I don't know about doing it from your X-Box to your VCR, but there do exist boxes that can disable the Macrovision protection. Some hackable DVD players can do it too.

Sima SCC Color Corrector is what I use to copy DVD to VHS. Never hooked it up to the Xbox but I'm pretty certain it would work. It's still just playing a DVD. The copyblock is on the DVD not the system. It's a little expensive at 100 dollars but it's worth it. I kept trying to get cheaper models that were supposed to work but they didn't. First one didn't work at all. The second worked but had red lines every once and a while and it had a gray box that flickered in the corner. Third time I finally just said give me the SCC and I've been copying DVDs ever since with perfect picture.

This may sound retarded, but I believe the discoloration goes away after enough viewings. My Home Alone and Platoon DVD's used to do it even when I wasn't recording now they don't do it all. And I've recorded many things off of DVD with no problem, except the Badd Blood match from the Undertaker DVD. Maybe it goes away after repeated viewings, something I've heard others say also.

The lines left behind from the copy protection are dependant on the VCR used for playback. Some VCRs will show all of them and the picture will look like crap, while others will only show them if the picture is a deep red or blue.

Most retailers like that aren't going to sale something that basically allows you to do something illegal. Like you can't go down to Best Buy and buy a box to allow you to get free PPV. They could do it but I've never seen it. Now a smaller electronics store, they might have it. I bought mine online but it came from a store in NY.

Most times than not, you can hook up your X-Box to your VCR, so to record, just hit record as you play your DVD. That is the EASY part. The hard part is this. Most DVDs have that anti copyright thing in them. One thing to do is to play it a few times, Another is that you need the piece said above. Best thing to do is to play the tape after the transfer to make sure everything looks good. If it does you are set, if it doesn't, then get the piece.
