Why the count out makes sense

I didn't like the countout either, but I can see a pretty good reason it could have been booked that way for storyline purposes.

 

The Outsiders were basically getting their asses kicked and realized that they were completely overmatched.  Rather than let themselves be pinned, they chose to beat a strategic retreat with the understanding that in order to triumph they need extra bodies.  The two of them cannot be alone in the NWO.  This could be the first step in the return of Michaels, or adding X-Pac or whoever.  If that's what this leads to, then an annoying ending is actually surprisingly subtle booking.

I figure that the point is to get a third member too.

 

X-Pac isn't big enough...and I don't see HBK coming back (especially full time in ring).

 

So here are the suspects:

 

Hogan  IMO, he's the WWF's top choice.  He's far too over for it to work...but the WWF is stupid.  I could see them swerving Rock...even though it wouldn't work.

 

Rock  He's the guy that can get it done.  They want to boo him.  If he'd have turned at Mania, he'd have been one of the biggest heels ever.  If he'd have turned tonight...he'd have been a big time heel.  How much time are they going to let fall before they smarten up?  When does that stupid movie open?

 

HHH  Where there is a spotlight...he will find it.  It would make sense.  But don't count on it

 

Austin  Never happen.  Heel turn too fresh.

 

Taker  No one would care

 

Angle  It would destroy Angle forever...make that a maybe

 

Jericho  They could use Jericho easily IMO...but he's a midcarder now...

 

So what happens?  Rock will turn on Hogan after the movie opens.  At wich point..not too many people will care compared to Sunday.

Jericho would be great, but sadly I think you're right, and he'll be lucky to get a feud with Booker or Angle or someone out of the next 6 months.

I think they just did it because they don't want to give the finish away to a match like that if it might end up as the pay per view match.

I agree that the Outsiders seen that they were over matched and decided to take the countout and that is why they walked.  The nWo will most likely be recruiting a new member or two.  I say use X-Pac and Justin Credible since they are both tight with Hall and Nash.

Backlash PPV is at April 22.

 

I suspect Rock turns heel at the pay-per-view... or they wait till they head back state side to see if he's getting booed there too and then figure out what to do.

If those are the dates....then I agree 100% Rock heel turn at Backlash.

 

It will be good for business IMO...

 

and it won't hurt the movie...it opens with him as a face...and the immediatly there is more attention on the Rock for turning heel.

 

A win win situation IMO.

 

I suspect we'll see more Hogan/Rock teamings o play up the fact that they work well together...that way marks won't see it coming...

 

Turning him on Sunday or Monday would have been obvious (and for the best)

Well first thing is first,as The Outsiders were being counted out on WWF Raw I was chanting Money Inc. Money Inc.!!! I think that we could be looking at a possible Hogan & The Rock Vs. The Outsiders cage or cell match at WWF Backlash, because then you can't be counted out or DQed,there must be a winner!!!

I just assumed they went for the count-out finish because they were running low on time.  The match began after 11.
