Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 28, 2003 No Sabbath s/t? I'm coming to your house with a wrench. 1. Black Sabbath-Self Titled 2. Black Sabbath-Paranoid 3. Tool-Lateralus 4. Rush-Moving Pictures 5. Acid Bath-When the Kite String Pops. 6. Pink Floyd-Meddle 7. Slayer-Divine Intervention 8. Type O Negative-World Coming Down 9. Pink Floyd-Ummagumma 10. Dying Fetus-Destroy the Opposition. Gun to my head, and that's my top ten. The first five are pretty definite, the next five change now and again, past that, and it's pot luck. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted February 28, 2003 There's only 9 that I can call an absolute lock: 1. U2 - Achtung Baby 2. The Beatles - Abbey Road 3. Prince - Sign O' The Times 4. The Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground & Nico 5. The Clash - London Calling 6. The Beatles - Revolver 7. Tool - Lateralus 8. U2 - The Joshua Tree 9. The Pixies - Doolittle The other day I just sat down and typed out a list of favorite albums for the hell of it, and I got to 42 before I had to even stop to think. Aside from that top 9, it's always shifting, but I'd say that right now I'd go with Depeche Mode's Violator or Tom Waits' Rain Dogs to kill the top ten. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I find my constant reshuffling of these lists frustrating. Top 10 at the moment. 1. Pixies Doolittle 2. Bob Dylan Highway 61Revisited 3. Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde 4. Beatles Revolver 5. Neutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane over the Sea 6. Bob Dylan Bringing it all Back home 7. Bjork Post 8. Clinic Internal Wrangler 9. Pere Ubu Terminal Tower 10. Captain Beefheart Trout Mask Replica
Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Top 5 Album Covers Involving Women in Varying States of Undress: 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. I bought that Dwarves album on vinyl yesterday.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Where's ? or am i misunderstanding the criteria? hehe
Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I considered Small Change, but the stripper wasn't at the forefront of the picture. Sugar Ray--that album cover is the only good thing they've done--got the slot, instead.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted February 28, 2003 makes sense. Is this eligible?
Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Could be. Ya know, I've been showing that Dwarves cover to everyone. I bought it at an indie record store in Orlando, where two of the guys from Interpol were doing an pre-show appearence (it was a good show, by the way). I got my picture taken with them, but I didn't think to try to get the album in there until after the fact.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I bet it's really sweet all blown up on vinyl. I just have it on a little dinky cd. I've always found this one quite attractive too:
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Scariest part of the Prince cover? If you cut it off just a little above the waist, it could most definitely be an actual woman. Terror.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Ok, let me educate your asses. 1) In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning by Frank Sinatra 2) Revolver by the Beatles 3) Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones 4) Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd 5) Moondance by Van Morrison 6) Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys 7) American Recordings I by Johnny Cash 8) What's Going on by Marvin Gaye 9) Graceland by Paul Simon 10) Headquarters by the Monkees Best box sets go to Elvis Presley's Amazing Grace gospel set and Johnny Cash's Love, God and Murder That could get reshifted and changed if I think harder later and expand a bit. Guest Eyeball Kid Report post Posted February 28, 2003 That Dwarves album reminds me, if a record's running time is under 30 minutes (this one lasting only 14), there's no reason to put it on two sides. Just sayin'.

Just sayin'. Ah so you've actually listened to it too then. I'll be shocked if you do that another half-dozen times for the rest of your hopefully long and prosperous life. sidenote: Kinetic's list reminds me that I always overlook VU for these threads. Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted March 1, 2003 Hmmmmm, I'd go with.... 1. Flipper-Generic Easly the dumbest or most brilliant recording in human history 2. Stooges-Fun House So chaotic yet so tight and controlled. 3. At the Gates-Slaughter of the Soul Probably the perfect mix of heaviness and melody 4. Gang of Four-Entertainment Brings the funk and the punk like no one else. 5. Television-Marquee Moon To me, this a perfect album. 6. Misfits-Walk Among Us The best versions of most of their best songs. 7. Megadeth-Rust in Peace My fav. thrash metal album, though Slayer-Reign in Blood could easily switch places with this. 8. Cynic-Focus One of the most thought provoking albums I've ever heard. 9. Hot Water Music-Fuel for the Hate Game Pure raw emotion that may never be duplicated in a studio again. 10. Turbonegro-Apocalypse Dudes Words cannot describe the greatness of this album. Stupid fun with serious musicanship.

It's a piece of shit. I kinda suspected it would be, which is why I opted out for the big ol' vinyl version and not the rinky dinky CD.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted March 1, 2003 Kinetic, what happened to all the Neil Young that was up there the last time we did one of these topics? Did you finally wise up and realize that Skynyrd were right to paste him with a most righteous diss? Also, I think I want to slot in Andrew WK's album at number 10. ...Just kidding. ...Maybe. Guest Kinetic Report post Posted March 1, 2003 I still like Neil Young and I still think that Tonight's The Night is a pretty genius album, but I realize now that putting it at the #1 spot was an act of whimsy. It'd probably still make my top 20, though.

You say that with your sophisticated tastes, and its no surprise. I bought that cd used when I was 16 and at the height of my punk phase, and even then I thought it was a piece of shit. Tells you how bad that album really is.
