Guest iamsherm Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Forgive me if this topic is better fitted for the Old School folder (and feel free to move it if it is), but I had a question on Al Snow's debut in WWE. If I remember correctly, he came in looking to talk to Mr. McMahon. Every week he would do something silly just to get Vince's attention. Finally, he got McMahon's attention and the only way he would get the meeting was if he defeated "Too Much" at King of the Ring in a handicap match. Al ended up losing. So my question is where were they going with that angle? Were they going anywhere with it at all? It seems like they cut the legs out from under it just like many angles that came before and after. Why? What do you think Al wanted to say to Vince? I was intrigued by the story. Anybody know anything about it?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Al Snow's first show in the WWE was something dealing with Maven and Billy and Chuck. (Sorry, I refuse to call it the new name, and one of my pet peeves is when people talk about things that were still technically WWF and call it the new name. I just won't use "WWE" at all.) Now, his WWF debut, it was something like that. IIRC, the meeting with vince was basically just asking for a job. They MAY have mentioned him being annoyed with Avatar and Shinobi and all that. Guest iamsherm Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I've gotten used to WWE now. I guess by watching enough of their programming, they've trained me not to say WWF anymore. Yeah, I remember him being annoyed with the dumb gimmicks from the past (which reminds me, this storyline wasn't Al's debut with the company afterall). Did he get the meeting with Vince anyways? I don't remember seeing it. But that does make sense. If all he wanted was a job, then color me disappointed.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 28, 2003 One angle that had so much potential for Al Snow was the Mick Foley book in trash angle it turned out that Al did not do it, resulting in Val Venis doing it which went nowhere. An Al Snow heel turn at this time could of been something great as it would of given Al something else to do other than the HEAD gimmick. As for the Al Snow with Head debut in WWF I think thats the whole story other than a few PPV matches like the Head and Shoulders one or other comedy matches. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Funny that this got mentioned, since this is the same angle they are running with Brian Kendrick on SD. I even brought it up in the last SD thread. I also didn't get why they did it, since by the time Al finally was allowed in, people stopped giving a shit. A shame, since he was really over in ECW before coming into WWF again. Even if it was with the stupid indy-league-style "Head" gimmick.
