Guest AndrewTS Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I know he was on SD two weeks ago, but I missed the SD before last, and even in reports on it I didn't see anything about him. He wasn't on SD this week or any Raws. So, did he completely drop off the face of the earth, or what?
Guest iamsherm Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 The cynical side of me says probably being repackaged. I was wondering the same thing, to tell you the truth.
Guest AndrewTS Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 All that build-up just to make Spanky streak and then vanish? Hooboy...
Guest wwF1587 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 PSSHHH.. I knew I was beginning to like his gimmick too much.. it was only a matter of time before he was dropped... FN WWE
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Dark match on Raw I think
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I am getting worried about this too...I wouldn't be shocked if they decided "Hey, this advocate gimmick is too complex, let's shelve it and make him a Pimp or an Distruntled Construction Worker"
Guest AndrewTS Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I am getting worried about this too...I wouldn't be shocked if they decided "Hey, this advocate gimmick is too complex, let's shelve it and make him a Pimp or an Distruntled Construction Worker" *sigh* Well, I guess all good gimmicks must die a quick death, like Waylon Mercy.
Guest teke184 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Unfair example... the Waylon Mercy gimmick died a quick death because Dan Spivey (Mercy) retired due to injuries.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 He was on the week after Spanky streaked...guy doesn't show up for a couple weeks and he's thought to be dead? Give it a little time.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Yeah but Looking at WWE track record...I am concerned here... I STILL don't get why he does Raw Dark shows and appears on Smackdown vignettes and backstage stuff? I really thought they should've had an segment where SOH manipulated Kendrick into asking Stephanie the match...
Guest treble charged Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 He didn't do a dark match this week, on Raw, at least.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I'm sure Vince knows what he has, one of his guys taking a little look around the net should confirm O'Haire is getting a positive reaction Unless "one of his guys" is Johnny Ace
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 He was on the week after Spanky streaked...guy doesn't show up for a couple weeks and he's thought to be dead? Give it a little time. Yeah, but this is a gimmick that they were giving a moderately hard push previously. For the investment and hype, it's strange that he disappears suddenly. I'm not necessarily crying foul here, but I'm thinking the gimmick didn't come off as well as they had hoped, outside of the four original vignettes. So they're letting SOH take some time off away from tv so they can tinker with it a bit.
Guest Space_Cowboy Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 The writers probably just ran out of ideas after only a few weeks of the gimmick, that sounds about right for the WWE's current group of hacks.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I wonder how much is this angle coming from the mind of SOH? I wouldn't be shocked if he was into the whole Durdenism world for real and suggested it himself...cuz, I really don't think Gerwitz or Heyman would think this gimmick up...
Guest Anglesault Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I wonder how much is this angle coming from the mind of SOH? I wouldn't be shocked if he was into the whole Durdenism world for real and suggested it himself...cuz, I really don't think Gerwitz or Heyman would think this gimmick up... Oh for christ sakes, it's not that fucking complex, and he can't even pull it off that well. Give it up, it sucked.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I'm not necessarily crying foul here, but I'm thinking the gimmick didn't come off as well as they had hoped, outside of the four original vignettes. Really? Because then I agree with them. Because it came off really, REALLY badly. I got no real sense of manipulation, and that catchphrase is way to specific to place it ina spot where it doesn't sound stupid. Spanky: You want me to streak? SOH: I'm not telling you anything you don't already know! Yeah, that made sense. Plus the fact that actually making him streak made no sense. I'm telling you, O'Haire is NOT a good enough wrestler (Mediocre-bad) to keep going with a gimmick that is sucking.
Guest OnlyMe Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Give it up, it sucked. Can't you shut the fuck up for one minute? Jesus, go read a book or something. It's a two hour TV show that's on twice a week - it's not like you have some sort of stake invested in the WWE.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I don't get what is so bad about the Gimmick? He's basically being a instigator.
Guest TheGame2705 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I have to bite the bullet and agree with Anglesault. O'Haire sucks and this gimmick wasn't all that great or hard to pull off. You just have to look like a snide bitch and say "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know".
Guest Redhawk Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 The initial vignettes were very well done, but that was more promo-writing (not done by O'Haire, I presume) and good visual production work. When he actually made it on TV, I wasn't very impressed. Like someone said earlier, the catchphrase isn't very flexible and O'Haire seemed to be a much better actor with rehersals and being able to do takes. Then again, you have to blame the writers for allowing him to debut like he did. Nathan Jones gets a one-on-one interview where he punks Cole, then immediately gets jettisoned into a program with Taker and Big Show. Meanwhile, SOH is working with a fellow rookie about streaking? Not very fair I think.
Guest evilhomer Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I'm not necessarily crying foul here, but I'm thinking the gimmick didn't come off as well as they had hoped, outside of the four original vignettes. So they're letting SOH take some time off away from tv so they can tinker with it a bit. It's virtually impossible to capture the essence of the vignettes because they were edited to death. But lets look at the two live segments he had - 1) here's a dumbass idea, I'm not telling you anything... 2) you've beat him up enough, I'm not telling you anything... So for one, he presents an idea then uses none of the devil's advocate reasoning that made the vignettes brilliant. For the second, I suppose the purpose was to show how tough and intimidating he is, but he looked weak, and Demott looked like a total wuss for backing away the moment someone his own size gets into his face. Personally, I would have liked to have seen him talk Demott into laying in an even bigger beating, then the next week talk Spanky into getting some revenge with a steel chair. Of course this would lead to an oh-so entertaining Spanky-Demott match, but I would have liked to see O'Haire's arguing. Anyways, maybe they realized that O'Haire can't do the segments as well live, so they're giving him some more time to work on it before giving him some regular time.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Give it up, it sucked. Can't you shut the fuck up for one minute? Jesus, go read a book or something. It's a two hour TV show that's on twice a week - it's not like you have some sort of stake invested in the WWE. You're the one getting emotional here. I'm just making a point. People like O'Haire, Sault. And all i've ever asked is for someone to show me the great match(es) that he had that leads people to believe he deserves anything better than what he got. The gimmick isn't good enough/performed well enough to justify this praise without him being really good, which he really isn't.
Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I might as well add in the mandatory "at least he's not a hoss".
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I really think SOH is the perfect image that McMahon truly wants...Big enough to look like a Hoss but Fast enough to be considered an Non-hoss (what u call them)...
Guest Anglesault Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I believe the term is "Stud" See: Billy Gunn. I really think SOH is the perfect image that McMahon truly wants Image isn't everything, and it isn't (or shouldn't be) what Vince McMahon wants.
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Stud...Yes...Of course... I agree with you somewhat... EW....i JUST agreed with AS...
TheFranchise Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Okay, keep it quiet. We all know what will happen, O Haire will go over a mid carder, an upper mid carder, then be jobbed out to HHH, then working Heat thereafter.
