Guest mister foozel Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Well, for starters, Avril Lavigne. Thank the lord she didn't get a grammy.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 If the public buys their shit then so be it. Although MTV is the biggest influence for that kind of thing now. I'd rather listen to the radio though.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 People only get "pushed" because the majority of the public like what they are hearing.
Guest red_file Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 What's even popular now? I never can seem to keep track.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 If a band is more about image then music, they're being pushed to much.
Guest Nevermortal Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Simple Plan. These guys suck pretty hard and they're no different than tons of other pop punk bands. I don't understand what makes this group of assholes so unique.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 So, anyobdy else tempted to enter that MTV sponsored Avril Lavigne contest? Love to win that and be a complete dick to her. You blow her off the entire time, yet video tape her at her worst moments. Good Charlotte is over pushed, too.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Every single band ever. No matter what, somebody will complain about an artist/band/singer getting undeserved credit.
Guest Vyce Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Good Charlotte is a perfect example. Also - 50cent. Sorry, he is NOT the savior of hip-hop, which he claims he's been called. Limp Bizkit - now that the new album is coming out, I'll have to suffer through these worthless jizbags being all over MTV and the radio again.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Also - 50cent. Sorry, he is NOT the savior of hip-hop, which he claims he's been called. I agree with the 50 Cent statement, but his latest CD is damned good. Plus... when did he claim he was the "savior of hip-hop".
Guest justsoyouknow Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Coldplay, and, to a lesser extent, Norah Jones.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I want to win the Avril contest so I can GET her off, not blow her off.
Guest crandamaniac Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Ja-Rule, you can listen to an hour of Rap Radio, and 45 minutes of it is his songs The Neptunes: They command the other 15
Guest Dillon Likes Bossman Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 50 Cent and Ja Rule are overly "pushed", but I like the Neptunes.
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Norah Jones Did she really need that many grammies?
Guest El Satanico Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Just because Norah Jones won alot of Grammys doesn't mean she's been "pushed too much". Most of the people here probably didn't even know who she was prior to the Grammys. I never knew who she was prior. I knew her name from someone i knew mentioning liking her, but had no clue what songs she did. Even for someone like me who avoids MTV there's no way to miss an artist that's "pushed too much" She wasn't mentioned or seen a 1000 times a day on MTV. The "pushed too much" people are.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Norah Jones is not being pushed too much. Hell, before she won those Grammy's MTV was playing her videos around 2 AM. That's how I first heard her music... about 5-6 months before the Grammy's. Pushed too much? No.
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 I kinda like that one Norah Jones song. I'm not terribly interested in hearing more, though.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Inc. listening to something mainstream! The Earth... will now explode.
Guest MrRant Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 I'm sure the sound of Inc's self involved universe exploding will sound more like a Packer fan passing a bratwurst fart.
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Inc. listening to something mainstream! The Earth... will now explode. Hey, she displays a lot of jazz influences. And she has a lovely voice. Anyway, back to this:
Guest Flyboy Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 It's not a bad CD at all. I have it. I recommend it since you're such a jazzamatic.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 jazzamatic. Damnit flyboy...what did I tell you about making up words? ...... Oh yeah that's right I never told you anything about making up words...nevermind
Guest El Satanico Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 whaaat? not meee :points at kinetic:
Guest saturnmark4life Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 ewww. This thread took a turn for the worse. Justin Timberlake rocks, and I mean that. It's partly due to overexposure that the chilli peppers are such a joke to me now, their new stuff sucks as it is but now I've given up on them completely, they are a parody of themselves. Let it go, guys.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 I take too much heat for my taste in music on this board. But believe it or not, I do not like Good Charlotte, and I think they do take up too much MTV time...but the kids are buying their shit, they're into them. They were given a chance and they got over. (sorry to use wrestling terms) I did get way tired of hearing about the Neptunes last year, seemed like the trendy thing to do was to have them work on your cd. I don't watch a ton of MTV though, since MTV and MTV2 now doesn't show much in the way of music anymore.
