Guest TajiriMark Report post Posted March 2, 2003 I'm asking for a Playstation 2 for my birthday next week and I'm wondering if I rent WWE SmackDown: SYM from the video store, will I need a PS2 Memory Card in order to play it? Also, when I want to save data to the memory card (when I create wrestlers, edit wrestler's movesets, save the Season Mode)...how much does a memory card cost for PS2 and is there a special memory card to get or are they all the same for PS2? All help is greatly appreciated. ~Pac
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 2, 2003 I'm asking for a Playstation 2 for my birthday next week and I'm wondering if I rent WWE SmackDown: SYM from the video store, will I need a PS2 Memory Card in order to play it? For season (unlocking arenas, outfits, movesets and parts for CAWs) and Create-A-Wrestler purposes, you will need a memory card. For "Exhibition Mode" purposes, no. All of the possible matches are here anyway, so it's a matter of how deep you want to go into the game. The "Exhibition" mode will have you hooked for a long time, though. Also, when I want to save data to the memory card (when I create wrestlers, edit wrestler's movesets, save the Season Mode)...how much does a memory card cost for PS2 and is there a special memory card to get or are they all the same for PS2? $25.00-$35.00, depending on where you look. All of the PS2 memory cards are the same, but you can "play it safe" by buying an officially-licensed PS2 memory card (jet-black color). There seems to be no real difference between licensed and non-licensed cards, so there is nothing to be wary about here.

Guest TajiriMark Report post Posted March 2, 2003 1 more question: If I rent the SmackDown: SYM game and save all my data onto a memory card, will it still be there when I rent the game the next time or when I buy the game?
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted March 2, 2003 I didn't even think there were non-licensed and third-party cards out there, because of Sony keeping a tight grip on the save technology. I searched for some cheaper cards back in December and came up with nothing. Anyway, even if there are some out there, it's just better to get the official deal. Although it's never happened to me, some cheaper un-offical memory cards are prone to losing your data. When I bought my memory card it was $25 (the official brand). If I rent the SmackDown: SYM game and save all my data onto a memory card, will it still be there when I rent the game the next time or when I buy the game? It should still be there. Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 2, 2003 I have a Mad Catz card and I've experienced no problems. It looks cooler than the Sony one and was $10 cheaper. I think you can buy two-packs of cards for something like $40 now. 1 more question: If I rent the SmackDown: SYM game and save all my data onto a memory card, will it still be there when I rent the game the next time or when I buy the game? Unless you delete it, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be there.

Sony WAS letting other people sell memory cards, cause I used to have a Nyxo memory card (officially licensed, but about $20 cheaper). And then they were gone not long after, as no one was buying the Sony cards. At least around here. Then Sony cards came down in price... Which I found ironic.
