Classic Florida Wrestling (3-2-03 Edition)

- This is a from the vault show that has been airing over the last few months every Sunday from 12-12:30 ET. It's great for nostalgia and entertaining since it's NOT WWF, but mostly Southern Championship Wrestling from the 80's. The Main Event is usually a match from the 1970s to give it an older feel to it.

- Your Hosts for this week are Mike Graham & "Macho Man" Randy Savage!!!! They introduce a match with Barry Windham & Outlaw Ron Bass where falls count anywhere. Gordon Solie will be on commentary.

- Falls Count Anywhere Match:

Barry Windham Vs. "The Outlaw" Ron Bass:

(JIP) Oliver Humperdink & Hacksaw Higgins join Solie at the commentary table. Bass is beating on Windham outside and nails him with a steel chair. He throws Barry into the security rail and rubs his face into the steel post. Back inside Bass with a slam and cover for 2. Bass and Windham run to the back and we find out that Hacksaw Higgins & Oliver Humperdink jumped Windham in the hall way and count a fake 3 count at 2:25. Afterwards they toss Windham out back into the crowd and Kendall comes out to help his brother Barry. 1/2* Everything is Joined in Progress so its rare to get a good match in. I wonder if Hacksaw Higgins accomplished ANYTHING in wrestling. He seemed to be just a big fat guy with no talent.

- Graham & Randy Savage give us the heads up on our next match...

- Kendall Windham Vs. Chris Champion:

JIP - Kendall with a side armbar and Champion with a hip toss, but Windham holds onto the hold and has him down on the canvas. Windham continues working the arm and drops the leg across it. Champion lifts up Kendall and drops him across the top rope. Drop-kick connects beautifully and slams him. HIGH elevation leg drop by Champion gets two. Snap Suplex by Double C followed by a big splash for another 2 count. Windham hammers Champion and slams him to the canvas and drops an elbow. Windham continues the assault on Champion and nails a shoulder tackle. Cuban Assassin bothers the referee and Bass hands Champion his elbow pad, and Champion nails Windham with it and its probably exposed. Champion tosses it outside and Luger intercepts!!!! Luger hands of to Windham and he nails Champion and the Assassin with it, probably for the DQ for Chris Champion at 3:23. *1/4. Pretty good little match. Luger afterwards shows Solie that there was something loaded in the elbow pad that he intercepted. Luger was a hell of a lot younger here.

- Clips from The Falcon Vs. Johnny B. Good. Falcon quickly dispatches of Good with a fall forward suplex at about 0:06 (clipped, although commentators say the match was really short anyway) DUD. After the match, Ron Bass and company tried to recruit him after the match, but the Falcon refused to join Bass' Assassins. Clips of Kendall Windham battling Kendo Nagasaki. Sean royal runs out with a Kendo Stick but gets nailed. Windham fights off both men until the who Assassins clear out, but the Falcon HELPS Windham, and out comes Barry Windham, and he, Falcon, and Kendall run off the Assassins.

- Savage & Graham take us to this weeks feature main event...

- Southern Heavyweight Championship Match:

Dusty Rhodes © Vs. Thunderbolt Patterson:

Rhodes was NOT the American dream here, so this must be the early 1970s. Plus he's a heel. Some masked man comes in and attacks Patterson, and Rhodes joins in on the fun but both get killed for a while. Jimmy Golden comes out to save form the attack and clears the masked man out and it's Don Carson. Patterson attacks Rhodes and hammers on him a bit. Rhodes on he apron gets rammed into the turnbuckle and chops the throat. Rhodes begs him off and does a Goldust like shuffle in form of being scared and Thunderbolt continues the assault. Clip and Rhodes has Patterson down on the canvas, and clotheslines Thunderbolt to the outside. Patterson with a big head BUTT sends Rhodes to the floor. He stomps on Rhode's head some and they fight on the ring apron. Patterson goes for a head BUTT but he butts the steel post!! Rhodes throws Patterson back into the ring, but Patterson head-butts Rhodes outside AGAIN and he's knocked out. Rhodes loses by Count out and the winner and NEW champion is Thunderbolt Patterson!!!!! Time of the match (clipped) is 3:56. This was REALLY old school since the count-out loss cost Rhodes the title. Match was about *1/2.

- Mike Graham & Randy Savage say good bye for this week from Classic Florida Wrestling, as well as Gordon Solie (from an old tape) saying good bye from the sunshine state.

Final Thoughts: Much better then last weeks show, as they have been going with Bass' Assassins Vs. Luger, Falcon & Windham's feud over the past few weeks. Wrestling wise the show is OK for old school, but the showing of an old Florida storyline picks it up a notch.

Until Next Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, So Long from the Sunshine State.
