Dying Fetus pits...

Recommended Posts

I have never seen anything like it. Slayer's pit probably has the edge only because there was approx over 3000 people in it, but psychoness-per-body definately belongs to Dying Fetus. They ruled, their set was way to short though.

You ever see a bunch of indie kids try to start moshing? Fucking pathetic. A small group of them tried to get one going at the Interpol show the other night, but it ended quickly when the the pale, skinny kid in the At the Drive-in shirt started crying. Pussies, all of them.

That's pathetic. If watching wrestling has done nothing else for me, it's at least allowed me to put physical pain in perspective. I actually sort of enjoy it. I'm going to see my soon-to-be roommate's band on Friday and you can rest assured that I'll be recklessly hurling myself into the five other people there.

This reminds me--indie kids don't dance, either. They just do the hipster headbob. Are these geeks who all dress alike and sport similar hairstyles just TOO FUCKING COOL to dance?

Speaking of dressing alike, it seemed like me and one of my friends were one of the select few NOT wearing black that evening. Her boyfriend, though, was decked out in black, looking very indie in his Mars Volta shirt and with his glasses and jewfro.

April 6th...

Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Dying Fetus at the Met Cafe in Providence.

I'm so there, and I'm ready to destroy...I'll leave my glasses home that night.

Well I had a cannibal corpse "eaten back to life" shirt on. Actually the size factor wasn't the problem, there was the stereotypical 400 pound guy that would push the smaller folks down until about 10 people just mauled him. Overall though, there wasn't a lot of HUGE guys you typically get at metal shows. Some dude got carried out by about 4 security guards. They were yelling at everyone to get the fuck out of the way. The kid must have just needed some air though since he back in later. The pure brutality inside the pit was amazing. Everybody part flying. For the majority of the time I stayed on the outer rim of the pit, but 3rd song into the set, another mini-pit started right next to me and it all turned into one huge pit. Well if Decide's pit is anything like it was last time I saw them, it is gonna full of huge guys in black leather that look to evil for even me. Oh man, I can't wait....hehehehe

The most violent pits I ever saw were for Morbid Angel and Overkill. Both involved bikers and skin heads mostly, just going back and forth punching each other. Sick shit.

I also saw God Forbid the day before Thanksgiving 2001, and I've never seen so many people get ejected before. That's the problem with some hardcore kids. They just like going to shows to start fights, and that is not cool.

What I hate about "hardcore" kids is that they stand in the middle of the pit and start practicing their kung-fu moves. Everyone kind of stands there and laughs at them, but the minute they connect someone with a kick, they just get obliterated.

Hardcore pits are weird like that. Always lots of punches and kicks, but they lose all of their momentum when they land something. In a brutal death pit, the idea is to use the energy from your last collision to propel you to the next target. Being tall, I like the downward elbow strike for a revenge tactic.

There is also nothing sexier than an attractive girl in a mosh pit.

I don't mind girls in the pit, but I DETEST when guys bring their girlfriends to the front of the crowd and then demand everyone around them stop pushing and shoving. It is a well known fact there are pits at Metal shows, so male or female.....DEAL WITH IT.

I wouldn't say making your will is necessary, but definitely watch your ass.

When Pissing in the Mainstream hits, DUCK.

If you're not familiar with the material, it's the song that starts with these sick sweep arpeggios...

The song's so great. It's an icepick to the collective nutsack of modern TV and radio.
