Guest Sturgis Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Ashley Judd when she played Marilyn Monroe in a movie's name that escapes now. Let's just say I became a Ashley Judd fan after that.
Guest red_file Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I concur. Not showing it would have been a grave disservice to the audience, like never learning who Keyser Soze was. Er, it's clear who Soze is.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Dirk's penis was also clear. I think he meant it would have been terrible if we didn't see either.
Guest red_file Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Consider me retarded. I misread the connotation.
Guest Samurai_Goat Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Quills. Now there's your effective nude scene!

Guest red_file Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Just out of curiosity, when people think of "best use of nudity" do they think "hottest"?
Guest Sturgis Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Just out of curiosity, when people think of "best use of nudity" do they think "hottest"? More than likely.
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Life of Brian contains the funniest full frontal nude scene in the history of cinema.

Guest treble charged Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Mimi Rogers in Full Body Massage.
Guest DrTom Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Just out of curiosity, when people think of "best use of nudity" do they think "hottest"? No, actually. I don't think Phoebe Cates is the hottest woman to grace the silver screen, but tell me THAT scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High wasn't an instant classic. The whole thing was just perfect. Of course, the fact that she's quite easy on the eyes helps, but the scene itself is the winner, IMO.

I don't think Phoebe Cates is the hottest woman to grace the silver screen, but tell me THAT scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High wasn't an instant classic. That movie is so totally awful that Phoebe Cates naked on my couch wouldn't make me think anything about it is a classic.

"Order Pizza In Class" is still on my to-do list.

Of course, the fact that she's quite easy on the eyes helps, but the scene itself is the winner, IMO. But what I'm wondering is: is the scene a classic merely because it manages to make an attractive woman more attractive? I mean, it was a masturbatory fantasy. Granted, the scene advances Brad's character a bit, and further piles on the humiliations he's suffering, but it's really just a set-up for the joke, right? I'm not saying that the scene wasn't good or shouldn't be considered a classic, I'm only wondering if most people judge the quality of nude scenes based on how "hot" the scene is (not necessarily the actress in the scene). And then there's the issue of the question being "best use of nudity in a movie" not "best nude scene," which seems to make a slight difference to me. For example, the nude scenes in American Beauty are not particularly erotic, but I think they're effective and necessary, whereas the nude scene in Fast Times is highly erotic, yet doesn't seem necessary to the movie (if Linda walks in on Brad jerking-off to a magazine, the joke still works, and Brad still suffers) beyond merely being erotic (that being the age of teen-titty flicks). Perhaps I'm seeing distinctions where there aren't any.
Guest converge241 Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 fast times is one of my favorite movies ever that scene definetly didnt hurt its case btw i love leigh's little pooch belly in her nude scene (not as much as cates, but) btw part II- the Cars "Moving In Stereo" is one of my favorite songs all time based on that scene as well
Guest godthedog Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 don't know if it would count as "best," but my favorite nude scene of all time is the sex scene in 'lost highway'. the music, the fluidity, the smoothness & whiteness of her skin...it's one of those great david lynch moments when he grinds the story to a halt to give you this incredible experience where all the elements come together and it's too beautiful for you to take. there's a similar scene in 'mulholland drive' with the spanish woman singing 'crying', but there's no nudity.
Guest Lethargic Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Oh c'mon, you know that Sean Penn is your hero after that movie. "Order Pizza In Class" is still on my to-do list. I never saw the movie until last year. If it wasn't for all these years of seeing Sean Penn turn out a lot of good work, I would've hated him after that movie. I don't see the big deal. I never laughed at it and nothing seemed to ever happen in it. Maybe if I was a pothead I'd get it or if I was 13 I'd find it funny, but I'm neither.
Guest notJames Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 If you grew up in the 80s having never watched Fast Times, I can see why it wouldn't appeal to you. It's just one of those things you have to experience at the right time, like John Hughes films or parachute pants. One vote for worst use of nudity is Harvey Keitel in Bad Lieutenant. I still have nightmares to this day. As for Mimi Rogers, I thought she was a little… too much woman for me. And it's not like she was engaging in any hot sex. It was just massages by the dude from Cocktail. I like my nudity coupled with intense scenes of the ol' in-and-out.
