Guest JMA Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 How many nukes do we have? Anyone knowledgible about the subject?
Guest EricMM Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Don't we still have a few thousand nukes? Suffice to say, A LOT. And they're real doozies too, cuz unless they changed them, they're multi-warhead ICBMs, so like each missle goes up, and ten nuclear warheads come down. Hydrogen warheads. Kablooie. Or, at least, that's what we had about twenty years ago... but without the cold war, we haven't had a reason to make bigger and better bombs. Now we're trying to make mini-nukes. I don't know how that task is going.
cawthon777 Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 More than everyone else combined, I would assume. I know we got rid of a few due to an agreement with Russia. The only difference between us and North Korea, the terrorists, etc is that we use our nukes as a form of self-defense and a way to establish peace. We wouldn't use that kind of weaponry in a preemptive fashion.
Guest BobBacklundRules Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Here's a neat fact: one U.S. submarine has more firepower than all of the bombs ever used in all the wars in history combined.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 In a nutshell: The rest of the planet < Us.
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 We could leave the entire world in shambles after a few minutes.
Guest DrTom Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 In the 1980s, we had 200 nukes pointed at Moscow alone. Since the cold war has ended, we've joined other nations in reducing our nuclear capabilities. Suffice it to say that we still have a dashed good bit of firepower.
cawthon777 Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 We could leave the entire world in shambles after a few minutes. Let's start with New Zealand (pseudo-Australia). Not sure why...probably has to do with the Bushwhackers being from there. Then...Oklahoma. It's too flat, gives me the creeps.

There's probably 50 or so that still are.
Guest Spicy McHaggis Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I'd much prefer our possession of nukes than any other country.
