Guest Ace309 Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Doesn't it seem a little backwards for Flair to control RAW and McMahon to control SmackDown? I assumed that Flair would control Workrate WWF and McMahon would control Entertainment WWF, and that EWWF would stay on TNN and WWWF would end up on UPN. TNN seems a lot more lax about language, Lita's thongs, blood, etc., whereas UPN seems more suited to a wrestling-oriented show. Just a thought.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Hmmm. That makes sense. But the WWF gets more of a mainstream audience with SmackDown, so that may be why they're giving it the Sportz Entertainment.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 There's what Masked Yodeler said and I also think since they're pandering to the Internet crowd by sticking Jericho in a WM main event and now threatening to take Stephanie off TV, they're trying to pull a fast one on the Newsboards as often as possible. Face it, we've been assuming Flair would have had SD for weeks now.
Guest Brian Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Actually, all the original reports said that they were going to do it that way, because their contractual obligation to UPN before they decided to run WWF 1 and 2.
Guest starvenger Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 It works for me. I don't watch SD! anyways - I watch the Friends/Survivor combo on Global...
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 They may be giving the Sportz Entertainment half to Smackdown so it will have the benefit of editing. When you have a bunch of dumb skits and gimmicky crap, it can take more time to get it all right. Whereas a straight wrestling show can be done live, with the only problem being missed spots.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 I wonder who'll book each show. Hopefully Steph will be on Smackdown and Heyman raw.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 I say let Vince Russo book Smackdown and let Dusty Rhodes book Raw.

Didn't think of that;) [i say let Vince Russo book Smackdown and let Dusty Rhodes book Raw.] Ha Ha . That would be great. We could have constant run ins and Bring back On A Pole Matches baby.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 I think a reason Vince got Smackdown was due to The Rock being in a storyline with Hogan & the nWo. It was reported weeks back that Vince would have Hogan, Hall & Nash. I think SCSA will end up with Flair.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 some great points have been made but I think Vince has a big enough ego that since Smackdown has more viewers, it will give Vince more exposure to more people. I think his ego is the reason he gets Smackdown! He wants to be seen by as many people as he can 'cos he's the star dammit!!!!
Guest teke184 Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 I think Vince is an idiot if he thinks that UPN will bring in more viewers than TNN. UPN isn't in every market yet, while TNN is carried by just about every cable system by now. I know that if *I* still had cable, I could only watch RAW because my college town doesn't have UPN. Thank God my parents have both UPN AND TNN and have an extra VCR for me to tape the shows...
Guest notJames Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Not sure if anyone brought this up yet, but do you think we'll be getting new commentators? At least at the colour position? I don't know how good it would be to have Lawler do both shows, in terms of viewing the two "brands" as separate entities.
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 I think both brands will have their separate announce teams. JR and the King for Raw and probably Michael Cole and .... Tazz Coach Chris Leary Mike Sanders Cole by himself! I would say that the smart money is on Tazz.
Guest Frankie Williams Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Does anyone know if SD will be live after the spit occours? I really see no rerason why it shouldnt be.
Guest notJames Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 There was talk of SD still being taped and showing more of the younger guys, so that they could edit out any of the in-ring mistakes that might occur. But yeah, I would love it if it was live, if only we could find a way to eliminate a lot of the "Moments Ago" spots.
Guest dreamer420 Posted March 19, 2002 Report Posted March 19, 2002 Good point Frankie. The roster will have some of the stress taken off of it and will probably be given a reduced work schedule. Having Smackdown live every Thursday wouldn't be too bad because the wrestlers appearing, wouldn't have been on Raw.
Guest The Masked Yodeler Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 As far as I know, Smackdown will still be taped. At least for now.
