They still sell records and play to packed houses. I doubt GbV would of sold out the 1600 seats as a headliner, but thats just me. And for the record this will be the 5th time I have seen them. Last time was at Lalapalooza in 1996.

Guest LooseCannon Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Awesome. I wish I was seeing GbV play. I've seen them play 8 or 9 times, many of those times on their home turf in Dayton, OH. And it's usually a pretty awesome show. They tend to close their sets with a pretty kick ass cover of "Baba O'Reilly." Seeing them open for someone would have to be a disappointment from my point of view though, as I've only ever seen them headline. I don't know all that much about Cheap Trick, but I don't think those two sound right together on the same bill. Anyway have fun.

I thought it was their best albums since Alien Lanes, but maybe that's just me.

I thought it was their best albums since Alien Lanes, but maybe that's just me. No, I loved Isolation Drills, too. "Fair Touching" and "Chasing Heather Crazy" make me feel all gooey. This isn't the first time GBV toured with Cheap Trick, I believe. And, if you consider the latter band's early sound, touring with Pollard and Co. isn't all that crazy a notion.

I have very vague classic rock connotations to the name, but I can't really remember who they are. Both. They hit it big in the late 70's with "Dream Police", "Surrender:, and "I Want YOu To Want Me" and their 70's live album "Live at Budokan". They again hit it big w/ "Lap of Luxury" album which had the big hit ballad "The Flame".
