A Suggestion.......

Recommended Posts

Guest Angle-plex

I was just looking through old OAOAST threads (around the time of AngleSlam) and I started to remember how unpredictable the OAOAST was back then. I know now that we have this long term planning and stuff that makes for interesting storylines, but even as Big Poppa Popick has recently stated, once a feud here in the OAOAST begins, we usually know who is going to win that feud. That got me thinking a lot, and I think that's the reason I haven't been having as much fun with the OAOAST lately.

I am NOT mad at how the booking has been going, as I have recently started to get somewhat of a push, but I don't think we need it really. I appreciate all the time AS, Tony, BBP, Zack, and all the other bookers put in too.

I just wanted to make that clear before I make my suggestion. Alright, I think that after AngleMania II (notice the AFTER part, because I don't want anyone to think I'm just trying to beat AS at AM II) we should start using the video game WWE Smackdown 3 or WWE Smackdown 4 as a system of determining who wins what match. And for all you new guys that say that's dumb, I believe that's how BBP and CWM determined winners for IntenseZone and Heldown before we moved to Vanilla Midgets.

We don't HAVE to do this, of course. I'm not going to quit if we don't use it. I just think that this would give the OAOAST that "unpredictable" feeling that it once had.

I'll understand if you guys don't want to do it, as I know many of you are happy with the current system. I just personally think this would make things funner.

EDIT: We could just send the matches into whoever was collecting them, WITHOUT a finish added on. Then whoever is doing the "randomization" thing could write out the finish to the matches.

I agree. That's the "randomness" that's missed in the OAOAST today.

I think we should do THAT, and have other people write people's matches, like the 'glory days'. I.e.:

Hell in a Cell: Angle-plex vs. Caboose (written by TSS)

...so that you wouldn't have to worry about making it look like you were putting yourself over too much, or something.

That's certainly very interesting. Might be fun. I would of course, want the option reserved to play some of my matches. ;)

I would also think we'd need a rule of a "Normal" setting at least. Cuz it's easy to dominate those games sometimes.

Well, I think he means have it CPU vs. CPU. It'd be SILLY~ to have CWM (controlled by CWM) vs. Superstar (controlled by CPU)

Nah SP, we would do CPU vs CPU on normal difficulty.

Say the match is SP vs El Dandy (DREAM MATCH~!). BBP would pick up his SD4 copy and load it up. He would then pick a character for each member to be (SP = Austin, Dandy = Rock). He'd then watch the CPU play until one of them won, and that person that was represented by that character would win the OAOAST match.

The only problem with picking REAL characters would be: aren't stats different? Let's say:

Anglesault (Brock Lesnar, oh the hilarity!) vs. CWM (Raven)

Isn't Brock unstoppable in that game? It would make things kinda unrealistic.

BAN PLZ~! ;)

We would just use Rock and Undertaker then. They seemed pretty balanced. For tag matches we could add Austin and Triple H.

Well it wouldn't even need to be SD4 or anything. It could just be some random counter thing.

While I'm not a member of the OAOAST, so I don't know how much weight my opinion has, if you're gonna use a game to simulate matches, use Fire Pro Wrestling. This is how accurate it is:

Nash vs Goldberg:

Nash powerbombs 'Berg 6 times, who no-sells. 'Berg goes for the Jackhammer, Nash kicks out at 2. Nash gets up before 'Berg, notices he's down, and pins him, 1-2-...3.

You get really flowing matches with good back and forth... it's a bitch to program an accurate CAW, but if you do, you can set tendencies like how often a wrestler goes for the leg or something, how often he plays to the crowd, goes up top, whether he runs himself ragged, or plays it safe... plus it has every move ever.

Just a thought for you guys.

Thanks Thoth, but we don't necessarily have to write the matches out as we see them. Just the winner. Hell, we could even flip a coin if that would be easier.

Match

Popick vs Tony

Heads = Popick

Tails = Tony

Lands on heads.

Winner = Popick

We don't do long-term planning anymore, that ended at Doomsday, although we knew War Games will going to blow off the aWo/OAOAST, and we know the main event of AM II. The only "long term" planning we do now, is for our own characters. That doesn't mean we have 8 PPV matches planned, but me and SS know when our feud will end.

It's not so much long term planning Tony. It's just that once a feud starts, everyone knows who is going to win the first match (usually the heel) and the blowoff (usually the face). This way, you'd never know who was going to win what match. It also gives new guy like LaParka and Kotz as much of a chance of going on a winning streak as AS or Zack have.

Exactly. Imagine reading an IntenseZone, and coming upon this:

Anglesault vs. Scott Keith's Biggest Fan (non-title)

::match::

Winner: Scott Keith's Biggest Fan in 11:43.

Via: Mr. Boricua interference.

Bad example, I know ;) but whatever. It'd make IZ that much more exciting.

I think that kind of takes away from the element of storytelling, which, to me, is what wrestling --real or written-- is all about.

But that might just be me.

How so, SP? We could still continue all the feuds and everything.

I think we used to write matches in which the finish would be left off, and added later. Sure, it can help add to unprediectibility, but often not in the way the people involved with the feud intended. Course, I always wrote my own finish to my matches anyway and ignored said rule.

I think it would be better that way. The two people/tag teams involved in the feud would book their storyline only to that month's PPV. Then, after the match, they can decide if they want to keep feuding, or feud with new people. The flaw with the current system is that if I was in a feud with AS for the title, and I got to book my feud, I would book it from 5-6 months in advance. That means the title would be held between the two of us, not allowing anyone knew to move up and challenge for the belt. If the people want to keep feuding they can, but they should only book the next month in advance for their feud (really, we should stop booking feuds for months on end, even if it is our own feuds).

Yeah but you wrote yourself in to job to Evenflow most of the time. ;)

Now I'm confused, and really started to believe nobody understood what I've been trying to say for months. You control your feuds. You want to have it go a month, fine. Two months, fine. Besides the aWo angle, I've been trying to get everybody to understand we're not putting a gun to your heads saying "we want a three month feud between you two, if you don't want to feud, too fuckin' bad, you're feuding."

As a matter of fact, I wrote that exact thing in the Pre/Post-Production Studios folder -- before anybody wets their pants over that folder, it's basically used to post IZ before we move it for all to see -- I forgot what the reaction was, but I think the others said we don't need to do that because we're already doing that and everybody seems to understand what they're doing.

The following posts you're about to read have recently been de-classified by the OAOAST Board of Directors. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

"Jesse "The Body" Ventura wannbe" wrote:

What would you guys think of my newest suggestion? It's alot like we do now, but we would make a One & Only thread for it. "Saved By The Bell" has said he likes it, now I want to see what the rest think.

At the start of each month we'll open a One & Only thread -- the posters will pick somebody they'll like to work with. When they choose somebody, those two will be in-charge to build up their match for the PPV.

After the PPV, they'll have the option to end their feud and go on to somebody else, or continue their current feud for another month.

Let it be known: others may have said something, but when you're cutting and pasting shit, you skip things by mistake.

"Holla, if you hear me" wrote:

You must have a central figure who knows the storylines and has the ability to suggest feuds. You can't divide this.

Someone can oversee him...

We can also have people who are simply charged with creating ideas.

(Production) thinks up new angles...not like angles for people, but ANGLES like aWo/OaOasT or the trinity. themes to revolve the whole month and shows about. They also think of who would be good in these roles.

Developer takes in these ideas, as well as any ideas from individual talent. If everyone has a role, then everything is booked as such. If talent is double booked, Developer makes a call and sends the idea to overseer for approval. If talent is not booked, developer makes a call and sends the idea to both the overseer and said talent. Overseer double checks creative and developer

What about my idea of creating a One & Only thread when posters pick who'll they like to feud with for that month (with match at PPV), then after each PPV, they have the option to continue their feud or seek somebody else? I like that idea as it puts the spotlight on the posters if something were to go wrong and they can't blame us.

Forgot who this guy was -- for real, i deleted his name by mistake-- wrote:

The reasoning behind me not totally going for your thread idea "Ventura wannbe" has nothing to do with you, it's just that I feel if they're all posting who they want to feud with/what they want to do, the element of surprise is lost. That's why I suggested the PM idea. To keep everything fresh to the posters.

I know that Tony, I'm just saying with this current system I could book myself in a 9 months feud with the champion if we were friends, and nobody else would be elevated. I think this random thing would help with that a little, but you guys don't seem to be to hot on it. It was just a suggestion though, guys.

How about a vote? That way, if say, me and Agnes were having a kick ass feud, every month, the superstars would give us another month.

But, if we were bombing, they'd pull the plug and we's end it ASAP.

We could have (Not real feuds)

AS/AP Yes/No

Zack/Tony Yes/No

BPP/SS Yes/No

And so on. everyone would have a chance to vote on every feud, if THEY want it to continue. If feuds get voted down, the open guys can feud.

AS, this is your problem, now that you're the one who's supposed to handle such things. You decide what should happen. I don't have a problem anyway we go.

I think the wins/losses that are planned and how they go down are a valuable tool in the storytelling process. It's like the current Smackdown! situation. Brock just kinda keeps going over Team Angle. Even if Kurt were able to make it there, it'd just be Brock . . . going over again.

See what I'm saying? The randomness could potentially drain heat from a storyline.

But whatever floats the collective boat.

im against random match endings

i knew when me and tony feuded that the only way it could end would be in a draw..because the point of the angle was to develop respect/teamwork necessary to carry team oaoast to actually be able to fight the aWo

i like anglesault's idea of voting storylines in terms of creative...as an offshoot, maybe i can suggest a "listening to the fans quasi-tna" approach

rather than vote to continue feuds...we vote who we think is contributing alot to feuds, either to one or to the big overarching feuds...say i really like how SP is handling things and his matches are getting better...this gives him points, and tells us to say rework an angle that had SP losing into one where he wins...which obstensibly is what the fans want

i like this idea for the simple fact that it rewards those who put in the effort...

i am against using fpw or sd4 to simulate, that gets too close to e-feds for my taste

again, thats my opinion and suggestion...AS gets to make any such decisions

Is there really that much of a problem with how things are? I mean, all this business sounds like more trouble than the supposed current over-organization already is.
