Matthew Good - Avalanche

For those who live in Canada, you know what im talking about. For those in the States, you soon will. Today, Matthew Good released his first record since the demise of the Matthew Good Band. And it is simply phenomenal. We're not talking the generic Nickelback/Theory of A Deadman cookie cutter Canadian artists here, we're talking about one of the most artisically gifted musicans out there, with breathtaking symphonies with strings and keyboards and melodic guitar rock, Avalanche is nothing short of fantastic. Lyrically and musically, i doubt anything that comes out this year is going to touch this.....

Although it's only been one day and i've listened to it 5 times, im gonna have to give it a ****3/4.

Edge 102 in Toronto had the world album premiere of it last night and I listened to the entire fucking thing at work, not doing anything unless customers needed help.

 

Good is God. I'll still take Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip over him in terms of lyric writing but musically Good is easily the most talented musician this country has to offer.
