Guest Karnage Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Has anyone seen Iron Chef USA? I can't believe what they did. It was a brilliant concept gone horrible. The commentators dress like it was Monday Night Football and everything looks like it's trying to be WWF. Theres fans in the crowds with signs, the challenger has an entrance complete with music, and theres this stupid judge who keeps making fun of his obesity in an attempt to be funny. Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 5, 2003 A whole lot of the problem was the fact that it was on UPN, which to be honest shouldn't have been doing cooking competitions. I think that the only thing that they did right was having William Shatner be the chairman, since that role requires one to be rather over the top. But they tried to Americanize the show too much with the showboating and canned heat and C-level celebs, and that pretty much doomed it. I hold out the hope that the Food Network will somehow acquire the right to produce this show and then do it properly... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I saw the first episode on UPN and heard there were supposed to be more, but I never heard anything about it and didn't like the first enough to go look for myself. I saw parts of the first episode and I know I wanted no part of it after that. ok...they have to cook for an hour or so...I have a hard time believing that the live crowd (another great idea) was making all that noise durring dead time.
