Current options for SD Main Event at Mania

Recommended Posts

Guest Lord of The Curry

Alright, right now as it stands Angle drops the belt next week to either Benoit, Lesnar or forefeits it. So, what options do we have for next weeks Smackdown in the ME leading to Mania?

1) Angle gives the babyface speech, forefeits the belt and calls Lesnar and Benoit down the ring, saying if he can't defend the belt at Mania he'd rather see the two of them go at it. Face Lesnar vs Face Benoit at Mania.

2) Same setting as #1 except Benoit turns on both Angle and Lesnar and lays them both out.

3) We find Lesnar laid out before Smackdown. Steph gives Lesnars #1 contendership spot to Benoit who beats Angle clean in the ME after a quick tap to the crossface. Benoit beats down Angle afterwards and introduces Heyman as his new agent. Heyman cuts the "I told you all I'd do anything to keep the belt off Lesnar" promo. Benoit reveals it was he who took Brock out earlier in the evening. Heel Benoit vs Face Brock at Mania, Lesnar goes over.

4) Angle forefeits the title at SD, Benoit vs Lesnar Main Event. Cena comes out and takes Lesnar out with a steel chair, Benoit hooks in the crossface and we do a pass out Angle. Benoit is awarded the title by refs decison. It doesn't take heat off Brock because he never tapped and allows Cena vs Brock for #1 Contendership at Backlash.

I'm sure there are more but I'm tired of typing right now. Feel free to add your own angles and outcomes.

The problem with going for Benoit is that as a wrestler, when he gets to the Mania main event, he should be winning it. It's the climax, the epitome of his struggle that he finally triumphs at the biggest stage and match of his career. I just think that if he's going to get there, you're pretty much going to have to let him win the title, and that's not going to happen with Brock.

Angle's laid out in the back, exactly like Edge. Steph declares the title vacated for a WrestleMania match. Undertaker vs. Brock, I don't know how. Simple, easy story. Undertaker has the winning streak, Brock beats Taker. Heyman yells at Team Angle for losing the titles and letting Angle get hurt, they try to turn but Brock makes the save, realizing his best period was with Heyman handling the operation and Brock doing the grunt work. Shed Show for the obvious reasons. Turn Cena face (shouldn't be tough) and work him into the storyline. Build up Benoit, work that post-Mania. Rhyno turns on Benoit (at Mania?), and is revealed as being behind both Edge and Angle's injuries.

Option 2 for me is get Angle wrestling but pull off a double turn. Work the Undertaker angle again, have Brock retain. Push Benoit post-Mania using the same Rhyno set-up.

Both these situations you get Lesnar vs. Angle and Edge vs. Rhyno at the start of next year as options, plus a now elevated Benoit and Cena.

But didn't Brock just turn face? Won't it be hard to turn him back?

Not really. Pegging him with Heyman, injuring hometown boy to set things up, and just going totally ass-like and ending the Undertaker's win streak by cheating should do well.

Having Rhyno be behind Edge's injury since Team Angle denied it and I fail to see why they would deny it seeing how long Edge is out

I was saying that them denying it if they did it made no sense since they had no reason to.

I don't know about Brock turning heel but I'm in favour of Rhyno turning and GORE GORE GOREING everyone to hell

I would stop watching wrestling if Cena became Champion or appears at Wrestlemania's main event.

Brock should turn heel, but he can't go up against Undertaker. He comprehensively, cleanly beat the Undertaker in Taker's own specialty match, there's no more mileage in that feud. Brock has proven he can beat Taker and there's no real way round that. I think either Benoit or Brock won't lose much if one of them jobs at Mania, seeing as it'll be obvious even to a casual fan that plans were fucked up with Angle's injury. I honestly believe that Brock-Benoit at Mania will have to be used as a start of a long feud between the two. Benoit could stand to gain a lot with Angle out.

See my previous thread in this forum for my idea. It keeps both Benoit and Brock face (for now), and builds for a post-WM angle. I don't want to rehash it twice in the same forum, so you guys can check it out and let me know what you thought.

These ideas are too long, and thus boring. These are boring ideas. You guys are boring. We need cut-and-dry solutions that innovate and inebriate with the power-packed punch of something with a lot of alochol (i.e. rubbing alochol):

[1] - Like, just have either Bully Bill DeMott or Rappin' John Cena take out Angle in the back and take his belt. Then they can have a rulebook and they can tell everyone about the little-known rule that if you beat up the champion and take the champion's belt, you become the champion, as long as you do it with no help other than maybe weapons. Then Brock versus one of them at WrestleMania!

[2] - The same thing as the first idea, but Bully Bill and Cena can both have the same idea and beat up Angle at the same time and both try to take the belt. Then Fuaki comes up and handcuffs them to the belt because he's crazy and shit (a reference to my "Funaki took some bad medicine in the mental hospital" angle that I didn't come up with yet). Then they're both champion and Brock will have to fight them in a kind-of handicap match at Wrestlemania. I say "kind-of" because they can't separate since they're handcuffed, so they won't be able to do stuff like Cena's "Battle Rappin' Distraction" leading into Bully Bill's "Bully Blindside" and 'cause when Brock clotheslines one over the top, the other one will go over to since they basically have one body right now. But this angle has some problems if we use both Bully Bill and Cena, 'cause all that stuff about how you can win the belt by beating up the champion backstage only as long as you do it all by yourself. I guess you can write that out with a Reverend D-Von/Jamie Knoble angle.

I just remembered that since the fans know Brock is unstoppable against more than one opponent as has been taught to them by Team Angle, we have to build up the Cena/Bully Bill duo by having them totally kick the shit out of Team Angle and throw their worthless tag belts into the audience in a match that will be midway between a handicap match and a tag match. Or maybe a singles match and a tag match, since Team Angle suck so bad that they're already like one guy, even if they're not handcuffed together. Or maybe midway between a handicap match and a singles match (and a tag match?), since Team Angle are so bad, they're like less than one guy, and thus would find themselves handicapped against the one-man tandem of Bully Bill and Cena.

Anyway, Cena and DeMott retain their ill-gotten gold (Michael Cole will repeat this line a real lot to get it over) over Brock because I hate Brock and personal preference always wins out over what's best for business. But in this case, my personal preference is to make business go through the roof and then through the damn walls to make the whole house crumble down under a shower of the money business is bringing in. Cena and DeMott deserve it, too, because I think they'd work hard.

[3] - Okay, check it ... this one is off the meter. See, we have some mad scientist from CSI or somewhere come to Smackdown for a visit. The announcers have to pretend he's a real person and not just an actor playing a TV character, kind of like how WCW did in the successful Arli$$ angle. He can say he wants to test out his two time machine, and Kurt Angle and either Bully Bill or Cena can volunteer, since all are noted time-travel aficianados (they'll have to emphasize that with a few backstage pieces before the scientist's arrival that night).

Then when Angle and Bill/Cena step into the machine, and when the gates open back up and we think* we'll see that they're not there anymore because they vanished, like into another time or something, they just step out like nothing happened. The CS-Scientist (get it?) thinks his machine didn't work, but he soon realizes it did work, but it worked terribly and horribly wrong. It seems the two Superstars switched bodies! And voices, too, but that should be obvious since the larynx, or "voice box," is a part of the body and isn't like your brain or mind or consciousness or whatever gets to pick your voice; that shit is up to nature and what body your brain or mind or consciousness or whatever is in.

So anyway, then a bunch of wrestlers attack Bully Bill DeMott or John Cena (who they think is Kurt Angle, because of the body-switch stuff) and beat him into a year of surgery and rehab. Angle, who is in the other guy's body, doesn't do anything because he's such a jerk he won't even help out a fellow jerk if he has to put his well-being on the line, even if it is to save his Olympic body.

The wrestlers who attack Kurt's body are all fired, so they can't attack the real Kurt since security will shoot them dead in their boots if they come within 100 feet of any building the WWE is holding a show in from now on. They won't be fired for real, though, since they can find a loophole where they get their jobs back through a rulebook angle involving Reverend D-Von/Jamie Knoble. But the rulebook also states that they can no longer do what got them all false-fired in the first place, which in this case is attacking Kurt Angle. That is, unless the writers (me; by this point all the writers are me now) decide to write them into an angle where they do just that.

So basically, this frees up "Kurt" (really Bully Bill or Cena playing the part of Kurt because of the worked body-switch to dupe the rubes) and Brock to fight in peace. As for the reason the wrestlers attacked Kurt's body to begin with, that can be explained retroactively a few months from WrestleMania*, when Ernest Miller accidentally lets it slip out on Velocity and is fired himself (not for real, just so he can win the WWE Title).

Also, for the part where the gates open up and Kurt and Bill/Cena step out in different bodies, we need a lot of smoke and possibly a strobe light that change colors at random intervals (to symbolize the randomness of science, and thus, human nature and existence, plus to look really cool and hi-tech).

We need more body-switch angles because it'll give the wrestlers a chance to broaden their horizons working with different personalities and styles. Like, after Bully or Cena's "curt angle" (get it?) with Brock, we can put them in a comedy role. Like say for instance we're at the urinal (except me, I'm shy, so I use the stall), and "Kurt" will be shocked at how the penis for his new body is either really big or really small or really odd-shaped. Then there can be a phone call from the urinal next to him and then he picks it up and it turns out it's one of those phone calls everyone can hear. So then we here that it's Kurt's real voice, which would obviously be Bill or Cena in Kurt's body. And then they say something like, "Hey, Angle, you better keep that beautiful body of mine in tippy-top condition and not make any more allusions to any flaws it may or may not have, or something bad might happen to yours ..." Then we can have a match between them in about a year where they're trying to suplex themselves and run headfirst into the ringposts so that they can hurt the other's guy's body that they're now in control of. I don't know how it will end, since besides this I'm really only going to book a couple days or hours in advance so things stay realistic and spontaneous.

The Cat can also explain why Angle was shocked about the penis of a body he's had for a while now by saying that the he always forgets about the shock by the next time he sees it again and is thusly re-shocked. Or, he can tell us that Angle is a straight shooter and doesn't usually look at other guys' penises even if he has to wash or use them, but that we all make mistakes or get a little curious from time to time.

Also, they might have to use someone other than the mad CSI-entist if they want to make this a staple of the programming, since I don't know if CBS will want to lend him out much, since they'd be the ones paying him for his SmackDown! appearances. And in addition to commanding a really high salary, he also commands pretty much everyone at CBS except Les Moonves. And he doesn't like wrestling much since he's a jackass, so he might not want to be on more than once (he'll want to be on at least once, trust me ... otherwise my angle couldn't work). I was also gonna say that CSI cross-promoting with the WWE could also be a bad idea since no one likes wrestling anymore, but that would be a moot point, since I would be writing the shows at the time of the cross-promotion.

Oh, wait, I just thought that another problem might be that Eric Bischoff would get mad at CSI since they come on after RAW and that makes them like brothers and being all cozy with SmackDown! is like a betrayal of tremendous proportions. This might make Bischoff declare war on SmackDown!, which the SmackDown! brand is not really ready for since guys like Al Snow and Tommy Dreamer and the injured Randy Orton, Jr. are all on RAW. And two of those guys used to be on SmackDown but we let them get away ... what kind of idiot let that happen? I couldn't stop Bischoff from doing all this since I don't write for RAW since that would be a heavy workload on top of my current one of SmackDown! and sleeping, and that would cut into my SmackDown! time, and maybe even my sleep time, but I would probably quit or kill myself before that happened. Maybe the latter, because then I could sleep forever and even when the alarm went off, my body wouldn't even let me wake up and and plus I wouldn't have to pay my bills anymore. Anyway, even if I was writing RAW, I bet Eric would still declare war, because ever since he came back he's been better than ever and playing by his own set of rules that don't at all include listening to mine.

* - we think: actually, more like "you think," because I already know what's gonna happen since I wrote it ... I guess you would, too, but you would've had to read my script ahead of time, which better not have done, you jackass.

* - a few months from WrestleMania: no one can necessarily know whether this means a few months before or a few months after, since the mad scientist from CSI could get that time machine of his working any day now.

Everything will suck.

The best of the worst is taker, because the "brilliantly" booked Angle/Lesnar feud immediately makes EVERY OTHER GUY on the roster a write off. Taker is the only guy who won't be laughable in the fans eyes.

The third idea would work for me, even without a Heyman or Benoit alliance or a Benoit heel turn. You could just say Angle took Lesnar out so he wouldn't have to fight him until Mania, but then Steph comes out and tells Angle he's not off the hook and has to face Benoit one last time. Benoit wins and gets the title, and gains some credibility leading to Lesnar/Benoit at Mania.

I think Heyman being against Lesnar at this point is old news. Lesnar got his revenge in the cage match and thats that.

1) Angle Vs Lesnar on Smackdown Next Week

2) Team Angle does a Run In.

3) Benoit does a Run

4) Match ends in DQ

5) Kurt Angle works an injury at the end of the match

6) Week after on Smackdown they announce Angle is hurt and has been stripped of the Title and will be out a year due to Injury.

7) Steph makes a Benoit Vs Lesnar Title match for Wrestlemania. Building up to Mania they do the whole Respect thing.

8) Wrestlemania, Benoit turns Heel during the match and "upsets" Lesnar with help from Team Angle and Heyman.

Benoit has said he'll do anything to be World Champion and Heyman has said he'll do anything to keep the title from Lesnar. We've been saying Benoit as a Heel and Heyman as a mouth piece would be great. Plus, they could make Team Angle be Benoit's Lackies.

It gives Benoit a chance to be Champion and if he bombs in ratings and attendence, they can always have him drop the title the next month at Backlash to Vince's golden boy Lesnar.

I'm not going to sit and book angles for all of these, but here's the more clear options:

* Brock vs Benoit

* Brock vs Austin

* Brock vs A-Train/Big Show (much less likely)

Goldberg will NOT out over Lesnar in his first WWE match. it would ruin all previous plans for the guy. I'd rather not see Lesnar get buried. It should either be Benoit or Cena will the spot. Definetly, they should be building for a long term Lesnar/Benoit feud. But they won't. They'll kill everything for Goldberg.

The problem is with Benoit is how they've built up his quest for the title, and putting him in the big match means he should win and win cleanly, which isn't going to happen.

That's why i say turn Lesnar heel IN the wrestlemania title match...the interference from Team Angle cause Benoit to lose so he's not killed dead, it builds Backlash (and maybe Judgment Day) main events and gives Smackdown a new top heel, which it needs desperately. Let Booker beat HHH to give the crowd their feel good moment.

It's just too cheap an ending for WrestleMania. And I still think they can't build up the Benoit vs. Brock match weel enough given two weeks compared to the Brock vs. Taker. We may not like it, and I sure don't, but it's a good situation and you can pursue Benoit post-Mania (with the Rhyno angle) and turn Cena. Plus you still have Team Angle around for no reason since they failed with Angle and have really been the ones fighting Brock the whole time.

Your answer is John Cena... this match won't be the main event of the evening by any stretch but they have three other matches to cover that up easily anyway. So why waste Benoit or anyone else with no build when Cena already has an angle with Brock anyway? Stop with all the nonsensical heel turns and just let things work the way they were heading already.

For everyone who has asked about why Kurt Angle can work against Brock Lesnar next week, but not work at WrestleMania, here is the scoop. Due to his serious neck injury, Angle is very limited in what he can do in the ring now. Basically, he doesn't have a PPV quality match in him, but he can do enough for a TV match, especially if gaga is booked around it. So, I don't expect to see Angle do a whole lot on TV next week in the match against Lesnar. As it stands now, if I was a betting man, I would lay my money on a Lesnar-Chris Benoit match for WrestleMania.

Due to his serious neck injury, Angle is very limited in what he can do in the ring now. Basically, he doesn't have a PPV quality match in him, but he can do enough for a TV match, especially if gaga is booked around it.

Well, if Angle doesn't have a PPV quality match left in him, why not just make the match at Mania be a street fight? The gimmick match designed to protect guys who are beaten up!

Ok, not serious, but I guess it could work.

The problem is, Angle's been booked to take much of the bumps without tons on interference.

I'm just praying they decide to run an angle before the match with Kurt being laid out or something. Besides the obvious reasons (just bad for business to give the match free on TV, it ruins anticipation for this match that could be done for next Mania, and Angle is hurt) putting him in there with Lesnar, even if there is "gaga" being booked around the match (which will make it even more dissapointing) is always a risk. That scared me when Lesnar threw Angle into the cage in the outside of the ring on Smackdown tonight.

Anyway this is definately one case where a bait and switch needs to happen.

The entire SD! Roster vs. Brock

Brock goes over via F-5 on the injured Kurt Angle at 00:05.

I have a feeling that WW_knew about the severity of Angle's injury a while ago. Think about how quickly they've been building up Cena from goofy white-boy rapper to focused, angry Lesnar hater in the course of about 3 weeks. Methinks this is the way they're going for Wrestlemania.

It's not like it has to be a high-profile match, what with Rock v. Austin, Hogan v. Vince, et al. It's unfortunate that the SD! belt gets relegated to a relative afterthought, but at least we get some kind of decent match for our troubles, since Cena and Lesnar have worked with each other before (in OVW).

And it's not like they've been building toward a Benoit title shot for the past few weeks… he's been feuding with Team Angle so long, that it's a given that he'll be in the tag title scene come Mania.

Shifting players from RAW (Rock, Austin) to take on Lesnar at this point would be ridiculous. It would disrupt already-established story arcs and come off very slipshod. Best to just keep the rosters intact, especially not signing that fucktard Goldberg, who's stated he wouldn't work with Lesnar anyway, and try to salvage things with as few changes as possible.
