Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Possible spoiler for anyone who has the game and hasn't made it this far: On Chapter 8 of part 3, where you are chasing after Nicole Horne, you go to the rooftop, where a helicopter awaits her. I know you have to snap one cable, and fight off some goons. But after shooting that one cable, what do you do? I shot at the other cable on the opposite side, and it never broke. I shot up at the tower, nothing happened. What do I do here? I always wind up getting gunned down by the helicopter. Any help is appreciated guys.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted March 5, 2003 There is a door made of metal bars up on there, go over to that and use your sniper rifle to shoot down the cable over on that side. Once you've done that you shoot down the tower with your barettas.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Thanks JNN, I have to give it a go tonight when I get out of work. I'm just trying to defeat it before I get Dead To Rights~! for Gamecube in a few days.

I'm just trying to defeat it before I get Dead To Rights~! for Gamecube in a few days. If you are thinking that Dead To Rights will be ANYWHERE near as great as Max Payne, then I must tell you not to be too excited. I hated Dead To Rights, I hated it so much (yes people, I beat it so I have a right to say this).

I hated Dead To Rights, I hated it so much (yes people, I beat it so I have a right to say this). I've played it at my boss' house, and liked it. I managed to get it off Ebay brand new for $27.99, so I managed to get it for half price to. That way if I don't like it, I can trade it in and get nearly what I paid for it back. The hand to hand fighting in that game was just too much, too bad, for me to say I liked the game. The stages in which you have a gun are fine, but the hand to hand just outweighed the good for me. I was pround that I beat it though, so eh.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Actually, once you get the second cable to snap, it's much easier and faster to knock the tower down with a rocket. One shot sends it crashing toward the helicopter. I didn't even bother trying it with a regular gun.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted March 6, 2003 I tried (and tried...) last night to snap the second cable, both with the sniper rifle through the fence, and with the rocket launcher from the side of the roof. Neither has worked, and I wind up gunned down. Is there a certain spot I should be aiming for?
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Stand on the outcropping of the first cable support that you snapped and shoot from there with the sniper rifle.
Guest Pegasus Kid Report post Posted March 11, 2003 Is it true this game was released on DC? I had never heard about it until today when my buddy came by and gave me Half Life (which to my knowledge was never released on DC either) and said there are a few others such as Max Payne that were made but very hard to come by. From what I've heard, Max Payne was never completed for Dreamcast, it was cancelled before getting too far off the ground. I'm very interested by you saying that you have a copy of Half Life. Many of the Dreamcast faithful have turned the Half Life game into somewhat of a joke because it was 100% completed and ready to be shipped before they cancelled it. Many people have gone around looking for it with no success. If you have the means to do so, getting this up on the internet or in some file transfer program would be very cool for a lot of people. Many people have said they have it and will get it up for people at various message boards, but then just disappeared.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Hey Zack, accomplished it yet? Try aiming for the junction where the cable connects to the support (i.e. the roof, not the tower) rather than the cable itself. And yeah, it's not too hard to knock down the tower with an Uzi or something.

Sadly I have no means of putting it up anywhere though. I'm on dialup and to be quite frank, I'm not willing to spend literally days uploading 700 megs of information anywhere. It's just not worth my while. If people want to drop $10 to pick it up off me that's fine but I'm not uploading it. Again, if anyone comes across Max Payne, I'd love to make a deal to acquire it. I wound up beating it last week. Now I've got Devil May Cry, Resident Evil:Code Veronica and Silent Hill 2 to keep me busy...that and I'm waiting for Dead To Rights for Gamecube. Thanks for the help though, everyone.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Just a thought, but anyone else think this game could easily have a sequel? They didn't exactly show Nicole dying, she could've easily gotten out in time. Also, the game at times practically screams that Max was the one who really killed his family (he's constantly tortured by recurring nightmare images of that night, he sees himself in the room with his wife, etc) instead of some vague drugged-up nobodies. I mean, wouldn't it make twisted sense: the drug in the game (forget its name) is what actually gives Max his bullet-time abilities, he was the first guinea pig, but he went insane, killed his family, and then went on the run but thought in his fucked-up mind that he was actually still a cop, just now an undercover agent? (Real life tidbit: they NEVER make ordinary uniformed officers into undercover ops, at least not in the same city.) It would make more sense than the game's actual plot, which left a whole lot of loose threads hanging.

Alfred Woden gets away and Max gets put in a squad car; but Woden still owes him a favor.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Max Payne 2 is in development, it was announced at E3 and is supposed to be out in 2004. There should probably be more details at this year's E3 in May.

I don't see any loose ends there except what happens after the game ends.
Guest Pegasus Kid Report post Posted March 15, 2003 I was going to put this into the DC folder but I figured it'd go here. My buddy just grabbed me a copy of Max Payne for Dreamcast. I guess they finished it after all. SCORE! That makes two games (Half Life being the other) that people said either didn't exist or were never released that I've grabbed in the span of a week. Life's good that way.

Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted March 21, 2003 How can you guys play games like Max Payne on consoles? First/third person shooters suck ass with joysticks. Mouse owns all. Of course, PC owns consoles anyway.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 21, 2003 How can you guys play games like Max Payne on consoles? First/third person shooters suck ass with joysticks. Mouse owns all. Of course, PC owns consoles anyway. It was an adjustment at first. I'd gotten used to the combo keyboard/mouse control scheme for shooters. The good thing about Max Payne for the X-Box is that the controls are VERY intuitive, and the original X-Box controller fits my hands perfectly. After a couple run-throughs of the training mission, I had no problems at all.
