Show opens up in Vince’s office. Flair walks in. He tells Vince that he’s gone ahead and re-worked the schedule for tonight. Flair points at the TV screen with Essa Rios in the ring.

 

Cruiserweight Championship

Essa Rios vs. X-Pac

Essa dominates most of the match, but gets tripped up by X-Pac on the top turnbuckle and hit with an X-Factor for the pin at 7:23.

Security arrives in Vince’s office to take Flair away. Vince tells Flair he may own half the company, but he can stick around to his half. Flair tells Vince that they’ll have to settle this sometime.

 

HHH’s music hits and he comes out. He says that the rumble is in almost three weeks, and this year he is going to dominate the rumble from when he enters until he leaves. Angle’s music interrupts. Angle says that Triple H will be lucky if he can make it two seconds. Maybe if Angle’s too preoccupied throwing guys out, Triple H may gets his five minutes in the spotlight. Shamrock’s music hits and Angle retreats towards the ring. Shamrock says that Angle will have to show a lot of fighting spirit to make it that far. HHH says that if Angle has the spirit, and Shamrock has the balls, they can fight it out in this ring tonight.

European Championship

Eddie Guerrero vs. Christian

Eddie comes out with a mic. He says last week on SmackDown, Christian pinned Edge using his frog splash to retain his title. Yet tonight, Vince sits on his high horse and makes a match like this and makes him have to defend his title. Eddie wins by DQ at 6:14 when Test trips Eddie on the top rope. Test and Christian beat down Eddie until Edge charges the ring.

Number One Contendership

Palumbo & O’Haire vs. Hardys

JR says that after what happened last week, he’s not sure if the Hardys can co-exist. Matt Hardy hits the Twist of Fate on Chuck but the ref is preoccupied with Jeff. Matt gets up but O’Haire nails him from behind with a clothesline Jeff charges at O’Haire and brawls with him, but Palumbo crawls out and hits him with a low blow and throws Jeff out of the ring. O’Haire climb the ropes as Palumbo hits a suplex on Matt. O’Haire delivers the Seanton bomb to finish at 8:40.

Matt is in the back yelling at Jeff for costing them another match. Matt says he’s tired of Jeff getting in the way and stealing the spotlight. Jeff tells Matt he’ll get back at O’Haire later, and walks off.

 

Jericho comes down to the ring. He says that he feels cramped, like the people don’t get to see enough of him on just RAW. Well, tonight Jericho is here to calm their fears. He has appeared tonight to give the fans what they want. Jericho tries to start a Jericho chant in the ring. He tells the fans that it shouldn’t even be a test; when they hear his name they should follow. Because it’s a fact that all WWF fans are mindless Vince McMahon puppets. Rock’s music hits. He says that if Jericho was so anxious to face him again last week at the Rumble, maybe he’ll face the Rock tonight. Jericho says that it’s okay with him, but he’s not one of Vince’s wrestlers so he wouldn’t need to put his title on the line. Rock says he just wants a piece of Jericho. Jericho tells him that it will be for the WWF championship then.

HHH vs. Angle vs. Shamrock

HHH wins when he pedigrees Shamrock, who had just thrown Angle out of the ring, at 13:12.

Shamrock is shown on a rampage backstage beating up everyone in sight. Ross says Shamrock is a mad man.

 

Edge vs. Saturn

Edge wins at 6:03 with a spear. Test and Christian come down to the ring, but Eddie Guerrero stops Christian from getting into the ring leaving Edge and Test inside. Eddie gives Christian a brainbuster on the outside, and Edge and Test go at until Edge hits the Edge-o-matic.

Rock vs. Chris Jericho

Rock pins Jericho after Shamrock interferes and hits Jericho with a chair from the outside at 13:46. After Rock pins Jericho, Shamrock slides in and clobbers Rock. Angle tries to charge but Shamrock goes crazy as the camera goes off the air.
