Has anyone been following the cricket World Cup in South Africa here?? Is anyone out there misguided enough to believe that anyone can come near stopping Australia??? Adam Gilchrist is a MADMAN, it doesn't matter how many bowlers are injured, suspended, whatever... our back-ups still send everyone packing. Even with the bat!! C'mon someone, just dare to say otherwise.

Cricket, eh? Can't say I have.

I thought you meant the soccer/football World Cup.

I've looked at the recaps of the games in the paper and couldn't get past the first sentence.

One thing I did pick up, though, was that Adam Gilchrist sucks. Yeah, they made sure to note that.

I haven't really followed the Cricket that closely but at least England managed to lose with some dignity rather than being completely humiliated like normal.

Do the refs/judges wear the white coats and do the cool hand signal when someone scores, just like Aussie Rules Footy?

England lost with dignity?? Not completely humiliated by Australia's 4th string quick taking 7 for?? Shit, you Poms'll just cling to anything won't you?? Look at it this way, England has gone home, and Kenya is still kicking. How is that not humiliating??

Yes, the umpires do wear white and make lots of "cool" hand signals. Not the same as Aussie Rules though. I'd have thought they'd be showing World Cup cricket on ESPN 2 or something over there. Stupid really, you people are missing out on some awesome sporting action. I'd have at least thought the Canadians amongst you would be following it a bit.

I don't think I've ever seen cricket over here. Once in a while the regional sport channels will carry rugby though.

So sad, such a neglected little country. I suppose they don't show you any Aussie Rules Football either?? The season starts in a couple of weeks. I'll do what I can to give everyone a taste by using the mark of the week as my sig. Until then, you can all bask in the awesomeness that is this grab from Jeff White.

Dude, cricket is not a different kind of football!! Aussie Rules is the one and only football, but cricket is another sport altogether.

sorta like baseball but higher scores and games that can last for a long period of time.

In cricket, you have two people batting at once, standing at opposite ends of the pitch. At each end of the pitch there are three sticks in the ground with two small sticks joining them on top; stumps & bails. The bowler gets six balls per over. The bowler cannot bend their elbow during delivery, so no throwing, spinning is common however through use of the wrist and/or fingers. The aim of the bowler is to get the batsmen out via knocking the bails off the stumps, having them caught by a fielder or having the ball hit their legs in front of the stumps. The batsmen must try to defend their stumps and can earn points by running lengths of the pitch or hitting the ball to or over the boundaries of the oval. Difficult game to explain, but it just rules in general. Keep an eye open for some coverage of the World Cup Final, I can pretty much guarantee that Australia will be involved, so you'll get some good cricket

Please stop talking about Aussie Rules, its complete shit. So what if Australia's good at sport? Its the only 'culture' you charmless ingrates have anyway.
