Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Read a review for this in the USA Today this morning. Actually sounds like it might be a fun reunion special. Apparently they intercut a new story of Adam West and Burt Ward playing themselves trying to track down the missing batmobile with old clips and dramatizations of the old show. It's novel at least and sounds very much in spirit with the campy original show. I know I watched this all the time as a kid when it was reran to coincide with the first Batman film. Any other fans of the series out there or people with thoughts on the reunion special?
Guest The Electrifyer Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I saw a commercial and I couldn't really tell what was going on for this show. I saw Adam West and Burt Ward running around, they showed some old clips, then there were new clips with actors player Ward and West. No matter how confusing the commercial was, I plan on watching.
Guest RepoMan Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I used to watch the old Batman all the time when the Family Chanel was still just the Family Chanel.
Guest Lethargic Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I'm just glad it's finally friggin coming on. Seems like it was finished forever ago. It looks as good as I hope. I was shocked at the pics of Julie Newmar on the official site. Good god, I'd still give up an arm for her. What is she 60 something now? And the only damn thing different is her hair is white. That can be dyed. Jeez, even in the picture she's dancing on a pole with a skirt on. MY grandma doesn't do that. The movie looks cool, it almost looks like Confessions of a Dangerous Mind with Batman. I do wish that they'd do a REAL renion movie. I'd love to watch those guys try to fit back into those suits. THAT would be some comedy.
Guest starvenger Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I really don't care how bad it is, I am so watching this...
Guest razazteca Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 If this is going to be like the Gilligan Island reunion then it will be worth looking for but if it start to go down hill in the direction of Bradys go to Washington, the forget it. Mr Zszzszszszszszs will be happy
Guest Bruiser Chong Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I thought they already did this? I could have sworn I heard about it during the summer. Is this new or a re-airing? I'll be watching either way as I love that show and wish they'd put 'em out on DVD. Already did that with the movie (which is now just 8 bucks at Best Buy).
Guest T®ITEC Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Here's the website set up by CBS. And, here's a description of the movie: This new television movie reunites "Batman" series stars Adam West and Burt Ward in a comedy adventure where they stumble upon a diabolical plot to steal the original Batmobile from a charity benefit. While trying to unravel the details and find the Batmobile, West and Ward flashback to the tumultuous times of their 60s television series to reveal a bizarre behind-the-scenes story of the creation of a television classic, from their on-the-set explosions to their wild real-life encounters with fans. Original series stars Frank Gorshin (The Riddler) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) also make special appearances. I'm totally marking out, and furthermore, staying in on my birthday just to watch this. Should be, ah, fantastic.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 They did something similiar with Gilligan's Island. They guy who played Skipper was great.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 From the clips I've seen the guy playing Adam West reminds of Greg Kinnear doing Bob Crane from Auto-Focus.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 Mr Zszzszszszszszs will be happy Yeah, whoever the fuck he is. I'll tape it.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Movie just ended. What did you think? I thought it was pretty lame overall, but there was some nice subtle and not so subtle little bits here and there that I really liked. I think they could have either done a straight bio-pic with Adam and Burt doing a wrap around, or just do a more fleshed out movie with the whole "stolen batmobile" plot. The guys playing Adam and Burt were really good, but the other villains didn't look or act close to who they were supposed to be. Nice to see Julie, Frank and Booger too. Plus, I knew it was Lyle Waggoner doing the narration. Recogized the voice and it was schtick on the Carole Burnett Show. In a way that was the best part.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 That was a lot of fun. And Julie still looks great.
Guest Tony149 Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Being a fan of the old show, I had fun watching this. Like AS said, Julie still looks great.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I had fun watching it as well. I miss that show.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Julie did look great for her age. TV Land plays the old series at like 4 in the morning on weekdays.
Guest starvenger Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I thought it was fun stuff. It was campy, and I wouldn't have it any other way. That was Lee Merriweather as the diner waitress with the signed boob, right?
Guest Anglesault Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 According to IMBD, Julie is almost 70. (She will be in August) She has NO RIGHT to look that good. That was Lee Merriweather as the diner waitress with the signed boob, right? That was my guess.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I think you're right starvenger, but couldn't find any proof to it. It's about the only person she could have been. I did find a nugget of info that Lee's daughter was Julie Newmar's stunt woman.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 My name is now on some lady's lucky chest. ... Anyhow, I watched about half of it but I had to leave. From what I saw, it was really pretty good.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I think you're right starvenger, but couldn't find any proof to it. It's about the only person she could have been. Yeah, she's (The waitress) the only other lady besides Newmar with significant enough screen time (All three minutes) to make you think it was her.
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 "Look Batman! Oil spills! Shaped like arrows!"
Guest Lethargic Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I thought it was OK at best. If it was anything other than the Batman reunion, I wouldn't like it. In reality it was just another lame made for TV movie with no budget. I don't think I ever laughed at the thing. Some things, such as the egg fight, just seemed thrown in for no reason and told no story at all. If it wasn't for such a long wait building up suspense for it maybe it wouldn't have been such a let down. It seemed like one good movie and one really stupid movie put together. I would love to see a whole bio pic movie of those flashbacks, fleshed out more and actually done a little bit better. The West/Ward parts were just so forced that they weren't funny. It was like somebody that couldn't write Batman camp trying to write Batman camp and hoping that just the fact that it being West and Ward, would automatically make it funny. About an hour in I was really ready for it to end. I think I hated it but since it's the Batman reunion I can't really say that. Yeah, that was Merriweather. The fact that it looked just like her was a bit of a giveaway for me. haha I guess Kitt got too crazy to do a cameo. And Craig got too friggin fat.
Guest Bricks Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I liked it. It was corny, but I liked the campy Batman than the newer Batman portrayed in the movies. But, the thing I remember most from last night is Burt Ward's penis. Damn you CBS and your closeups of Robin's crotch!!!
Guest Vern Gagne Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Adam West never looked that buff on the old show. Batman feeling up Batgirl was hysterical.
