Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Hey........just found out a few days ago that I'm going to Mania (free tixs and backstage even, woot!!) and I'm now starting to make plans around the weekend I'm there. Anyway I'm just curious of "must see" things in the area for some that live there currently or have been there before. Also wondering if that Axxess fanfest is even worth checking out. One more thing, if anyone knows of any hotels near Safeco Field I'd be interested, although I'm sure they'll likely already booked. Any help would be appreciated.......not sure if this is in the right forum either, if not, feel free to move it, admin
Guest candie45 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Well, I don't know about the other stuff, but Axxess is pretty cool depending on what sorta stuff you like to do. I don't mind waiting in lines so I'm fine with that. But the thing is you don't know who's going to come out to sign autographs. Like at the beginning you wait in line for like 1/2 hour before someone comes out to sign autographs and it could be someone like Spike Dudley. (it was for me) There's also action going on in the ring with some of the lower guys, and the more popular guys do promos and stuff. There's a lot of interesting stuff in there, like dented cars and shit like that, so if you're into that it's nice to check out.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Pike Place Market - Catch a fish and the curiosity shop there rocks (mummies etc.) . I thought about going to Axxess but its like 40 bucks. Space Needle of course. Gameworks if you don't have one in your town.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Gameworks OWNZ but is expensive.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Speaking of Gameworks..I remember when they used to do a deal where you pay twenty bucks and you get two hours of free games..they used to market this as "Midnight Madness", and you'd play from ten to midnight. Somewhere along the lines, they must've got tired of the fifteen year olds hogging the DDR machines, as they made it so only 18 and over could get in for what was now "Moonlight Madness".. Weak.. Also, if any of you ever come to Dallas, check out Grapevine Mills, biggest mall in the southwest...
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 DEFINATELY checkin out the space needle for sure. BTW if anyone knows any sites for cheap flights to Seattle, help a bro out here!
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Southwest.com is usually pretty good.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted March 8, 2003 If the GameWorks is anything like the one in Las Vegas... Nnmmmm... I have dinner reservations at the restaurant in the Space Needle the night before. I'm hoping I can stomach it. The needle, not the food. I've gone up the Vegas Stratosphere tower and was VERY uncomfortable the whole time, but the Strat always makes me nervous because it sits right in the face of an airport and has a history of blowing up while under construction. All that cooked cement just can't be safe. Comparatively, the Space Needle has been around since the Stone Age. =b Also there's something called the Experience Music Project, but I can't seem to get any information as to what it IS. Just a bunch of hype and fluff without telling me why to go there.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 EMP is a music museum. Lots of memoriblia.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Might have to check that EMP thing out too......I'm going with a few folks from the music industry so maybe they would be interested in checking that out also. Does anyone know where Safeco Field is located in respect to the needle and the EMP thing? I mean are they close together in the same area or not?
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Pretty much about 3-4 blocks at the most.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Thanks again for the info........now if I can just find a hotel near all of this stuff, it would make the trip that much easier.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Check Hotels.com or Expedia.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Southwest is DEFINITELY the way to go as far as flights go. Book two or more weeks in advance and you're money. I just booked a round trip from Cleveland to Chicago for like $68 plus taxes. Cheaptickets.com is a good backup, but definitely check out Southwest first. Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Looks like Southwest doesn't fly out of Minneapolis though.........hmmm. *thinking of a plan*

Is there any other major airports near you that you could drive within a reasonable amount of time?
Guest Special K Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Pike Place is the best tourist [;ace by far. EMP is also fun, but some $20 a pop. Speaking as a native, it's not a very touristy town, but if you're 21+, we have a good nightlife. Oh, Broadway's probably a good place to visit, if you don't mind colorful locals. Guest franchise632 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Is jealous that a fellow Minnesotan is going to WM and I'm not. It would figure as soon as I moved out of the Northwest that WWE would bring WM to Seattle. For flights i would check out the following: Hotwire.com.... especially if you arent concerned about the time of day that you travel or longer layovers. Trip.com is also pretty good for flights. Expedia.com as well
Guest franchise632 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Hey a couple of flights i looked at on Trip.com, obviously I dont know when you are wanting to fly but i looked up a couple of diff things for reference. 200.50 Adult x 1 $200.50 Total (USD) Depart 6:15 am Fri., Mar. 28 Minneapolis (MSP) United Arrive 10:02 am Fri., Mar. 28 Seattle (SEA) Stops: 1 Travel Time: 5 hr 47 min Return 8:00 am Tue., Apr. 1 Seattle (SEA) United Arrive 3:25 pm Tue., Apr. 1 Minneapolis (MSP) Stops: 1 Travel Time: 5 hr 25 min There is also the same basic flight if you wanted to come back on Monday. and if you click on other flight times there are some other times for a return flight at the same price, this is abou the best price i have found. And 200 bucks for round trip to Seattle is a damn good deal. So got to WWW.TRIP.COM
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 8, 2003 How did you manage to get backstage? I expended just about every source I had (two television news sports, a P-I writer, Josh Barnett, SafeCo) and still couldn't get to those.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Guys, I'm going. So if you see a guy in a Batman shirt, with a pretty blonde (my GF who is also coming) and an Undertaker sign feel free to come up and say hi.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Man thats a great deal for 200, I'm gonna check that out ASAP here. And BTW the only reason I'm making plans NOW is because I just found out I'm going in a few days time. About the backstage and etc.........I have a friend who is in the music business (connections to Limp Bizkit) and also has a bunch of connections with WWE and the McMahons. He got 2nd row ringside and backstage for Mania 17 as well.......I was invited down to that but couldn't afford the ticket dammit, so I definately am not missing the opportunity again. Plus I believe Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top might be coming along for the ride so that helps out the situation too.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted March 8, 2003 So, in other words, you know someone at Interscope? Question answered, bullshit averted.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 8, 2003 So, in other words, you know someone at Interscope? Question answered, bullshit averted. Nope....the friends of mine just work with Limp Bizkit (or have) in tours of theirs But like I said too, how it was arranged was actually directly through the WWE anyway, so I guess that wouldn't have mattered with the Bizkit connection but it did make things easier.
