Guest JMA Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Janeane was invited back to Crossfire. Anyone else see it? I thought she made some good points (as usual).
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 8, 2003 What did she say? Did she talk about how it was "un-hip" to protest when Clinton bombed countries?
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 8, 2003 What did she say? Did she talk about how it was "un-hip" to protest when Clinton bombed countries? Dunno. I didn't see all of it. But she did say she was proud to be a feminist AND a liberal. Good for her. She's clearly done her research.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 8, 2003 What did she say that proved she did research though? I don't see what's so great about her saying she's proud to be a feminist and a liberal. I mean who cares

I mean who cares This much is true. I could say I'm proud to sodomize goats but it doesn't mean I've done research on anything in current events.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I didn't know she was still alive untill the other day. And barron, maybe she said somthing well-thought out like this "Our country is founded on a sham: our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.' That you can have a gay parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float cheering, 'We're here, we're queer!' -- that's what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride." or “Historically the mainstream media has never been particularly friendly to any socially progressive ideas.” or hell, "Sure [our enemies should be more powerful], when Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off. The right-wing media is trying to marginalize the peace movement."
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Insane liberalphobe Michael Savage was brought up as well. Tucker didn't even know who he was. "...besides this Savage character."
Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I may like her standup but she is a celeb and a knows not of which she talks about. Where are her degree's in history or Foreign Relations? What are her credentials? Feminism today is a sham anyways.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Wow. Wacky quotes from Janeane. Can't say I agree with her on those particular issues. That's a little TOO far left for me. I'm not going to make excuses for the quotes like some shills for their side would. I did, however, agree with most of things she said (that I was able to see) on tonight's Crossfire. Guest MrRant Report post Posted March 8, 2003 She is just someone who doesn't have all the info making a stupid statement. Just like all the other celebs that are out there. Even if a celeb agrees with me I don't listen to them unless they have a degree or something. These people are muscians/actors/whatever. That is one of the few things they know. International affairs is not one of the things they are good at. I am sure if Bono was still poor and not bored and out trying to make a martyr of himself he would give two shits about have the causes he says he is for. Guest Vyce Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I think Janeane should stick to what she does best - Trying, and failing miserably, to be funny.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Oh oh, look at me, I'm Janeane Groffolo... "I have integrity because I'm not a pretty girl. What I lack in prettiness I make up for in being a smart feminist. I hate pretty people. They have made me sad and jaded to the world. Look at how ugly and fat I am. Listen as I use self-deprecating humor."
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 8, 2003 She'll go on news shows to protest the war but she had a whole week on Kimmell to express her views and said absolutely nothing. Colin Quinn even tried to goad Janeane into an argument but she didn't seem like arguing with him. I guess it was unhip. I wish Dreamer would my question as to how Janeane proved she did her research.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 8, 2003 SHe hasn't done her research, she's probably talked with Sarandon and her husband, who's name escapes me right now and listened to a few other anti-Bush protesters. All she really veer says is just the anti-Bush talking points. Nothing new and nothing true. "Sure [our enemies should be more powerful], when Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off. The right-wing media is trying to marginalize the peace movement." Well the Left by and large took USSR's side then as well. Nothing has changed with them. They cried and pissed and moaned about Reagan telling Gorbachev to "tear down this wall" and calling them "The Evil Empire" and acted like it was the end of the world now they do the same thing with the terrorists and guess what it is was no the end of the world then and is not the end of the world now, what it was was the end of The Soviet Union's world and what it will be now is the end of the terrorists' world now. This is incredibly off subject, but since you brought up Colin Quinn, let me just say how happy I am that Comedy Central has picked up "Last Call." Finally, a network show that will no doubt feature Lil' Jimmy Norton!

He did such a bang up job on Miss Mathers, so then I hope the same for her, but its Jenna Jameson all over again! COME ON BILL? What the fuck?
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 9, 2003 I heard Bill and her are friends now. I wonder if the Right will try to cover that up. I don't usually agree with O'Reilly, but he does have some good points occasionally.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted March 9, 2003 I might not always agree with Groffolo, but I respect her opinion. She firmly is against the war, and so she speaks out on it. And at least she will go on shows like the Factor and Crossfire and shows like that, and go toe to toe with the interviewer, unlike many of the war protesters who do a "Drive-by protest". You might disagree with her, and that is fine. That is what this country is all about: Having different opinions which differ form other opinions. Groffolo is firmly against the upcomming war. And she has given many valid reasons why she is against this potential-war, IMO. Heck even I am a little skeptical about what the true motivation is for war. But, when this war does start, and it will, I will support our troops, no matter what.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 9, 2003 I, too, will support our troops. I just won't support Bush or his administration.

Guest JMA Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Did she stress her opinion once again that Sadam and Bush are an equal threat to the security of the entire world? Couldn't any country wipe Iraq off the face of the Earth? Heck, we could just start another Iran-Iraq war and let them take out each other.

Couldn't any country wipe Iraq off the face of the Earth? Heck, we could just start another Iran-Iraq war and let them take out each other. Many could indeed do so, but you also have to remember that there are many countries with economic ties to Iraq, which make them want to keep the country and administration as is at the moment.
