Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Everyone complains about WWE today (We're on the Net' were supposed to, right?) but I think the WWE is better right now then it was a year ago. With the exception of Angle and Edge's injuries. Last year at this time, the only good storyline, IMO, was the Taker/Flair feud. Edge and Booker were feuding over Hair Shampoo, Austin was No-Selling nWo every week and squashing everyone else. Angle was feuding with Kane in the Mid-card, RVD was feuding with the heat killer Regal. Rock was getting killed by a 18 wheeler and Chris Jericho the "Undisputed Champion" was cleaning up Dog Poo while Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were having their lame Soap Opera Drama. Would everyone agree WWE is in a lot better shape today?
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted March 9, 2003 I agree completely. I completely forgot the crappy angles that were being ran. I died laughing when Austin basically owned the nWo. Big threat they were, huh?
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Same problem exists with the scant elevation of talent though. Things aren't much better: Taker is busy elevating friends in Hossmania. Bad matches are the order of the day here Booker is lined up as the next opponent for HHH but it is being made to look like luck rather than anything else RVD is feuding with any tag team WWE can throw together Jericho is stuck in mid-card elevating talent (which is good, but a waste of talent). I'd rather he do it at the top of the card. Austin is back but we wait to see what happens post-WM The main focus of WWE is on Vinnie Mac vs' Hogan, combined age over 100. I wouldn't say it is in better shape at all, especially considering the best workers are getting injured through busting their asses over the past few years. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Actually, Jericho's on the verge of finally hitting the top and if Booker can get taken seriously, he's near the top too. We now have Brock too who's pierced through the ceiling which is better than nothing.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Yeah. I think some elevation will be going on in the WWE soon. With Angle and Edge gone, they will have to find someone to face Brock in the year they will be gone. He can't face the Undertaker for the whole year afterall. Of course, maybe they will feel that they have to bring in another "legend" who can't draw flies anymore. I'd like to think they would not be stupid enough to bring in someone like Lex Luger, but desperate men do desperate things. On the Raw side, Booker may or may not beat Triple H at the PPV. My pessimistic side thinks Booker will lose the match setting up HHH to lose to the belt to Austin; however my optimistic side thinks that, with the recent injuries, the WWE would not want the Raw title on a guy who has been injury prone the past few months. Setting up a Booker/Jericho feud for the belt post-Wrestlemania would be nice, though it would probably be overshadowed by Austin. On the plus side, I am curious about what will happen, which is the first time in awhile that I have been that way about the WWE. I do not have my hopes up though. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Last week I would have said this without a second thought, but the Angle injury is the worst to hit the company since Austin's in 1997. However 1997 minus Austin was still better than the horrible 1996, and I feel the same way here. The March to Wrestlemania last year was absolutely dreadful with the nostalgia run, a bloated roster, and meaningless midcard titles like the IC. RAW looks pretty bad as usual, with only Booker T & Lance Storm having improved their situations over a year ago, but on the Smackdown side Angle (before the injury), Lesnar, Benoit & Rhyno all appear to be headed for great things. Angle, Lesnar & Benoit are pretty much permanent main eventers at this point, unless Vince decides to screw it up by bringing in Goldberg to clobber them all or something similar (HHH). The midcard is also much improved with the Guerreros, Team Angle (who have been main eventing lately, but are probably headed down without Kurt), Matt Hardy (who was dead in the water last year), Rey Rey, etc. Even A-Train & Big Show are somewhat credible now. They still suck, but they are no longer a complete waste of money. RAW appears to be in about the same position as a year ago (with Booker in Jericho's place), but it is much better than what it was 6 months ago. Rock's heel turn is one bright spot, so at least it isn't as stale as it was this time last year.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 9, 2003 Jericho's in a better spot at there's a good chance that Booker will walk out of Mania with the title, so RAW's not that badly off.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted March 9, 2003 As long as Goldberg doesn't come in they will have to at least one new person on SD. With Austin and Rock on Raw we haven't been seeing much of HHH and Hurricane got a nice little rub from doing some mic work with Rock. If Jericho gets a clean win over HBK it will do big things for him. Batista and Randy Orton, like them or not, were being elevated but now someone else is going to have to be elevated in there place, Raw hardly has any good heels.
