Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 From what I've seen reported on various newboards (so take it for what it is worth) HHH will face Taker at Backlash for the title. The Raw rating last night was a 5.3. A big improvement...and all done without 1 Taker appearance. If Backlash is: Taker vs. HHH and Hogan & Rock vs. Outsiders... will you order? And I'd like to point out that if this is indeed the truth...I called it a long time ago that HHH would cash in his Taker job ticket before he returned any to (Austin, Rock, Jericho...).
Guest Tony149 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 The Hogan/Rock vs. Outsiders tag match did a 5.8 overrun. Got that from 1wrestling. If that's the case, does that mean Taker will get involved during the Jericho/Steph vs. HHH Hanicap match?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 And while everyone who is reading this stops and thinks: "I'll have to see what they do with the midcard..." I'll point out that this is another example of how the WWF is becoming WCW. The last hour of the ppvs are terrible...but the midcard is worth watching...if given time.
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 HHH v Undertaker and Rock/Hogan v Outsiders (if they re-run it after Raw) sounds horrible and certainly looks nowhere near giving us ppv quality matches. I'll have to, you guessed it, wait till they anounce the rest of the card and see where Austin, Angle, Booker, RVD, Christian etc fit in before deciding on staying up till 4am to watch it all (I'm in England).
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 I think I'm going to start cutting out the middle man and just skip the ppvs and wait the 6 weeks for the dvds...which I buy anyway.
Guest teke184 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 God... HHH vs. Taker at Backlash would open the doorway to the Bizarro WWF, as HHH's face turn hadn't really succeeded until last night (and who knows if it will last?) and Taker's heel turn STILL hasn't succeeded.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 Well i don't have to pay my own money to watch the PPVs so i'll watch it. However i don't think i'd stick around for the main event if it was HHH/Undertaker. Even if they do a good job of building it up i just flat out have no interest in watching them wrestle. Undertaker is slow as #### and just plain bores me to death and it isn't likely that HHH will be any more entertaining in just a months time.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 I think you speak for a large amount of fans, Satanico. If they build Trips-Taker for Backlash then the buyrate will be sh!t unless there is some ultrahot Rock-Hogan angle occurring. And if there is, then Trips will face the same problem he had at Mania...a dead crowd after an exciting Rock angle.
Guest Brian Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 The tag match looks like a good draw, and depending what angles or twists in the plot they run off the split, it could be a good show. I do think that is about everything in drawing power the NWO has, as the nostalgia (and freshness) will only draw for so long.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 Yeah, without Hogan, the NWO angle has a shelf life of 1 month MAX before the crowd becomes completely apathetic. In Vince's infinite wisdom, he'll probably have Austin or Taker or Trips turn t othe NWO poison realizing that Hall and Nash can't draw worth a ####.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 I think that the Hogan thing could last a good while...if done right. What I mean is...don't give away the big money matches all at once. Let's say they have Hogan vs. Austin at Summerslam...that should freshen him up again. And Rock vs. Hogan 2 could go at any time... there's still HHH, Angle, Taker and one last time with Flair (a match that even today would be better in a WWF ring than it was years ago in WCW) So if they stretch it out and hold off on the big matches...I think Hogan has some staying power. At the same time...I think that Hall can find a niche in the midcard and work some good matches. Fire Nash...and forget the NWO...I thikn that Hall and Hogan would be better off on their own.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 Well, if HHH/Taker is main eventing Backlash, I'll just leave right after the Rock/Hogan vs NWO match, then. No need in me wasting 20 minutes of my time for a shit match that I didn't want to see in the first place(nothing against HHH and Taker, but I don't care for either guy).
Guest converge241 Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 I wouldnt buy it for 34.95. That tag match doesnt hold much interest for me. Taker and HHH i wouldnt mind seeing based on the WMX7 match. I would order it if we get Angle - Edge and RVD - Storm. Im not saying the card will suck or anything, I just promised myself that once the prices goes up I would have certain pre-requisites for ordering. If I miss something great Ill just buy the DVD.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 HHH/Taker? God I hope not. There WM match last year was barely **1/2 and that was when HHH was fit and working.
Guest One Bad Apple Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 Fire Nash...and forget the NWO...I thikn that Hall and Hogan would be better off on their own. Yeah, fire him right now and pretend the nWo didn't happen. I'm sure a lot of people here would love to see Nash fired and have the nWo angle dropped. I'm also sure many of those people would be the same ones that complain about continuity. Don't I sound omnious.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted March 20, 2002 Report Posted March 20, 2002 No, but you sound ominous. I love nit picking.
