Guest AndrewTS Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I only recently began checking out Heat again--in hopes of seeing Molly. However, in the past two weeks--Maven vs. Rico and Maven vs. Storm, I noticed that Maven is a hell of a lot better than I remember him being when he first started out. He's expanding his moveset more, sells well, has some pretty basic competence in the ring. He's far from outstanding and could stand to learn more psychology and get a decent finisher, but he's not offensive to watch. Think he'll ever amount to anything more than a glorified jobber? Or will he and Nowinski just do the J.O.B for lower-carders the rest of their careers?
HurriShane Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I think Maven will probably be a low midcarer for the rest of his career. But I think that Nowinski could really be a major player if they use him correctly. Also, does anybody know what Kenny and Jake from TE 2 are doing now?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Maven won't ever crack midcard. But he's not bad considering all things, I don't have a problem with him. The TE3 kids haven't gotten hardly any time yet...good
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I think Maven is very willing to learn. As is Nowinski. A lot of people see it as they were pretty much handed their chance, but these guys really show a desire to learn and be involved with the business. Watching Tough Enough, you see a lot of people try it for fame, but I feel Maven and Nowinski really want to be there and really have a desire to learn and if they put time into it, I don't mind them being pushed. They can be enjoyable. I think Maven has some charisma too if he really keeps working, he could definately move someone. Maybe not Main Event for sure, but he'll be somewhat recognizable, kinda high midcarder at least. Nowinski, if they ever decide to use him as a threat, maybe drop Harvard all the time, can be something big too, just give them a little more time to mature I think.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I was thinking the same thing. Maven may be able to become a micarder in a year or two.

The TE3 kids haven't gotten hardly any time yet...good I completely forget about the TE3 winners. And the TE2 winners, too. At least Jackie Gayda is gone from our TV screens.

Apparently, Jackie was able to beat up Kurt angle in OVW because she is in some heel stable and he was there to do a show. Kurt needed to be rescued by his brother. Not that that annoys me or anything.
Guest razazteca Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 In the match vs Storm I did notice a few mistakes by Maven, such as he did not do the Northern Lights Suplex spot right, it had to be changed into a backslide or something else. At this point I see Maven as the new Justin Credible......Jobber to B show wrestlers.
Guest jester Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 The two TE3 guys did wrestle briefly on Raw. They did a lot of mat stuff which actually looked not bad, especially compared to the punch-stomp-kick crap everyone else was doing that night. But the match didn't finish, someone ran in and beat them down. I can't remember who. It might have been the whhhores.

Guest JMA Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Nowinski should have won TE. Even Chris Matthews would have been a better pick than Maven. But they had to pick Maven to appease the MTV kids. Maven has a terrible voice and looks too much like Coach. Nowinski could wrestle circles around him. But not winning TE will probably be good for Chris. After all, Maven was pushed hard from the start. Chris had to work himself up to get where he is.
Guest ShooterJay Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Chris spent maybe 4 months working New England indies- aka the wasteland of pro wrestling, before getting his shot, hardly dues paying. I'm just stating fact, I do like the guy a lot (even though, as a BU undergrad, I detest Harvard kids on general principle). Greg has made huge improvements in Combat Zone, and has become a great midcard heel- although he kinda has to, or he'd have gotten crucified in Philly.

Guest Brian Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Nowinski's pretty wretched in the ring. He's gold on the mic, but he just doesn't have something there. His body is just incredibly akward and he doesn't have the best of timing.
Guest Mole Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Chris is just missing something in the ring. I don't know what it is, but he is missing something. I really think that if Matt and John stay in OVW for atleast 6 months, maybe even a year, they could be pretty good. John was able to do a shooting star press of the mat, which is pretty impressive in my book. They just need to be trained more, and they will go somewhere.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I know about the TE3 kids shot on Raw where Dreamer gave them "one for the vets." I'm just saying they weren't as shoved down your throats are the other winners. I don't even think Chris is that good on the mic, and his gimmick doesn't have a long shelf life to it. "I'm from Harvard, you're all stupid."...that can't go on too much longer.
