To top it off, Ryan Randle had a chance to tip it on under the basket with NOBODY ELSE AROUND, and he tips up a BRICK......AHHHHHHHHH......Maryland basketball gives me heart attacks cause no matter how good the team is, they always seem to play down to the skills of lesser teams when they play them. Oh well, with the Duke loss they were guaranteed the #2 seed in the ACC tourny regardless, so I guess no harm done.....right? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Randle should have dunked the goddamn ball instead of trying for a dainty little tip-in. That's just plain stupid basketball there. Almost as stupid as Drew Nicholas heaving a 30-footer with plenty of time to get a better shot, and his team down by 1. A 2-pointer works fine there, and maybe instead of trying to be the hero, Nicholas should have looked for a better shot. Hell, get the ball inside and try for a foul. I think Watson was playing with 4 at that point, so you're almost guaranteed to get a bucket inside with Randle or Holden. Maryland has a habit of playing very stupid basketball at times. And for someone who's the senior point guard, a four-year starter, and ostensibly the leader of the team, Steve Blake plays at least his share of stupid ball. It's very disconcerting to watch. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted March 10, 2003 IMO, Steve Blake's play has gone down a LOT this year. I am sure it has a lot to do with Juan Dixon's departure. I mean seriously, I have watched about 4 games now where he is scoreless for 3 quarters, then hits 1 three pointer, and the announcers act like he hasn't missed a beat since last year. MD has some big men, yet they NEVER seem to dish to them. They must all be garbage. This team is a mess, but somehow they are still in a good position going into the ACC tourny.
