Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I was just watching a not-too-old tape of RAW which features Steven Richards and Jackie in an intergender match. As is usually the case with intergender matches, it sucked. No one thought Jackie would actually win, therefore making her near-falls meaningless. Richards would look totally weak if he sold any moves, which makes the match bad; but if he wants to make it a good match he hurts his credibility when he's in there with a guy ("He can't even dominate a girl, he doesn't stand a chance versus Batista"). Also, the fact that Jackie can kind of hang in there with a guy makes it look all the more stupid when she's in gravy bowl matches with Stacy and Terri. I can stand the mixed tag matches where the girls fight girls and guys fight guys, but why have them fight each other? In addition to the problems mentioned above, you also make your announcers look like retards, because they have to do the whole "How dare he be that tough on a woman" thing when it's a heel, then turn around with "She's getting what she deserves" or "Well, it's legal" thing when it's a babyface male. So I ask, why do they even have intergender matches?
Guest edotherocket Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Kills time when you don't plan properly and can't fill a two hour show. And its the 'entertainment' show so you cant fill it with too much wrestling in case you alienate and confuse your audience.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 10, 2003 They haven't done since then so I don't see a reason to complain

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 10, 2003 There was a Jericho/Christian vs. Test/Stacy match a couple of weeks ago. And the Richards/Jackie match was from right before Armageddon. I know there hasn't been one lately, but you know there will be.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted March 10, 2003 They haven't done them lately, so no complaints. Remember back when Chyna was competing for the IC title? *groan*

Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Well it's a quick and easy way for a male heel to get super heat.

Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted March 11, 2003 The same reason Stevie accompanies Victoria to ringside. So Jackie, Trish, and everyone else can humilliate him at least once.

Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2003 does Nowinski/Jackie v. Trish/Bradshaw count as 'worst intergender match ever'?
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 11, 2003 Anyone remember when Luna beat Stevie with a "testicular claw hold"?
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 11, 2003 I thought it was worse when Val Venis beat Mankind with a testicular claw (and who said wrestling doesn't have homosexual undertones?), but Luna/Stevie was pretty bad. Gayda/Nowinski vs. Trish/Bradshaw was very bad, but I'm sure there's been intergender matches even worse. I remember a 4-way tag match from RAW a few years ago. I think it was Albert/Ivory vs. Gangrel/Luna vs. Jackie and...ah hell, I don't remember. It sucked, though.
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted March 11, 2003 The worst was when Dean Malenko, a great wrestler and not just a scrub, was getting pinned by Ivory. Now that was disgraceful.
