Guest goodhelmet Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 didn't he die awhile back? to be honest, after george harrison's death, i don't give a shit about dead rock stars anymore. i used to grieve but i just can't get emotionally attached like i used to (ok, i take that back, i was bummed when entwistle died). i guess it is the old age catching up to me. i might shed a tear for johnny cash though because he is on his last leg as well. i saw him on larry king a couple of months back and he was not a sight for sore eyes.

In other EC news, while fishing around on the Rhino site, I found out that the next set of reissues are slated for next month, and are: Get Happy! Trust Punch The Clock Not sure if that's old news or what, but I'm excited about the first two.

Did he do a top ten list and all that stuff? Because I only caught the last half of the show, since I forgot until I heard him and went "OMG I FORGOT~! Is that Elvis Costello?" Anyone know if I can download a video/MP3 of his performance that night? I'm sure I can somewhere but I'm too lazy to look right now.

Guest goodhelmet Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 ok, i just saw the RNR HOF induction and elvis put on the best performance of anyone. his 'deep dark truthful mirror' and 'peace, love..." are two of my favorite songs and he tore it up. the worst performance was the police. someone tune that fucking guitar. very disappointing BUT they haven't played together in 20 years so all is forgiven.

I don't even know), and didn't really care to watch anyone else put him and The Police, who I was SORELY disappointed by. Sting's getting old, and it really shows in his voice.

Guest evenflowDDT Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I think I'm going to have to download and re-evaluate the performance then (any websites have that stuff? because I know that stuff'd be on KaZaA but I told myself I wouldn't do that anymore, heh), because although the guitar was off, what bothered me the most was Sting. He couldn't hit the high's right. And since The Police played probably their two simplest songs guitar-wise, I'm not surprised and would agree with you that they were trumped by AC/DC. Though by no means guitar gods, AC/DC's got some great riffs and "intermediate" solos that are harder than they probably sound. After all, they didn't get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for singing about their testicles...or did they?
