HHH/Booker

I'm getting very very close to giving up on WWE's product.

I watch wrestling for entertainment...not to get offended.

Hopefully they tone this bullshit down so I can at least witness Booker winning. If they do tone down and Booker still loses....i'm completely done with.

Their antics are getting too close for comfort.

I wasn't offended by the idea of HHH fucking a dead corpse, or Steve Austin trying to kill HHH by dropping his car from a crane... so chances are, I'm not going to get offended by this either. Or hey remember that great Pillman/Austin gun angle? I guess it's okay to tease murder, but if you make fun of someone's race that's just OVER THE LINE!

Amen.

This racism angle isn't even funny. It shows the writers lack of creativity or ability to push a feud in an entertaining and innovative way.

This thing does nothing for Booker. If he loses, he's just a dancin', jive talkin' monkey. If he wins, he was just lucky and his win was a fluke. It's a lose-lose situation all the way.

I don't mind a little implicit racism on Triple H's part...as long as he ends up getting his ass absolutely kicked. [Which in all likelyhood won't happen.]

And since it won't happen, I do mind. I might be more affected and offended if I weren't a middle class suburban white guy, though...

If Triple H's character endorses racism (by being a racist heel) then he has to have his ass kicked, or else bigotry is given "the rub" if you will. (In the wacky world of wrestling logic, Triple H is successful while racist, ergo, racism is okay).

A laundry list of WWE/F's most tasteless moments came up earlier, and I've noticed nobody mentioned the one segment that really and truly did offend me:

"Trish barks like a dog" (February 2001) Anyone remember that? After a short Trish vs Steph feud in which Trish was pretty quickly squashed on a PPV, the next RAW Vince came out and basically made her strip to her undies and crawl around and bark like a dog to keep her job... And WHAT was Trish's payoff for this? Getting to be the McMahon's loyal little servant maid, pushing the comatose Linda around in her little wheelchair. Oh, and she did get to slap Vince -- once -- during his match with Shane at WM17. Once. At it wasn't like it even cost him the match, either. Didn't even come close.

Wow, what great revenge. Kinda like capturing and cornering Osama Bin Laden and then poking him in the eye with a toothpick, Razor Ramon style, to avenge the horrors of Sept. 11.

I get the feeling Booker's "revenge" for being subjected to this race-based burial will be comparably anti-climatic. If he's even allowed to have any vengeance at all.

Nobody cared about the Trish thing and just laughed it off. It was no better then a racism angle. But people laughed.

The thing here is that if it makes you look good to bash it, then you do. For some reason the term "Mindless Sheep" come to mind. ;)

After that, Trish has been the centerpiece of the women's division, been given a great deal of attention, TV roles, etc. She's not exactly getting worse treatment than she deserves.

Booker's gotten over despite being jobbed out like the rest of the Alliance (that wasn't already a WWF guy) and has developed a marketable character and a large following. So he gets a racism angle and fed to Triple H. Tasteless angles aren't so bad if they're over with, forgotten, and those degraded most by them have it made up to them somehow.

WWE has a huge African american and Latino fanbase and how does Vince repaid them ?By pissin' on them with The KKK/Booker angle and the Guerreros cheat 2 win skits.

She is NOW but spent six months in limbo between Mania and Survivor Series, where she won the Women's title.

She was depushed immediately after WM X-7 and put with the Hardyz IIRC, which lasted until she got injured in the late Summer.

Somehow I don't think that Booker will get squashed at Wrestlemania then get a huge push 6 months later. If so, then RVD is owed quite a FEW pushes for getting depushed when he should have won the WWE title.
