Guest Frank Zappa Mask Report post Posted March 20, 2002 How much do you want to bet that if that asteroid had hit, it would've been blamed on terrorism?
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted March 20, 2002 That supporting graphic is one of the dumbest I have ever seen. If an asteroid that size proportional to the Earth collided with it, it's quite likely it would have fractured the planet, or at least left an enormous impact crater. Guest TheMikeSC Report post Posted March 20, 2002 The question to ask is this: Since we can't do much to stop an asteroid from hitting us as is; would anybody WANT to know if one was heading towards us? -=Mike
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 20, 2002 What? Are you telling me we can shoot down an asteroid? #### Hollywood movies.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 20, 2002 No, but we can send several oil drillers to LAND on the rock, DRILL a hole to its core and SHOOT OFF a nuke to split it in half, thus missing Earth. Stupid.

Stupid. Oh come on. Do you know how unrealistic that is? Like we could find a week or two where Bruce Willis AND Ben Affleck aren't shooting a movie or something. -=Mike ...Wondering how Al Pacino would've played the lead in "Armageddon"
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Well, it depends on how soon we detected it. If there was enough time, cm'on, we're the country 8,000 f'n nuclear ICBMs, remember? Enough to destroy all life on the planet a few times over? Surely that would be enough to alter the path of anything smaller than the moon.
