Guest Flyboy Report post Posted March 12, 2003 The UCONN Huskies' 70 game win streak was ended tonight by Villanova. In the first half, the Huskies looked lifeless and actually seem like they didn't care to win. In the second half, the comeback and leads with 9 but then Villanova gets on a run and ends the streak. Any thoughts?
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Had to end sometime. Just as well it happens now...I was starting to think they might pull a UNLV (1991, went into the Final Four undefeated, and lost to a Duke team they pasted by 30 the year before in the title game, in what was one of the biggest college upsets ever). This should refocus them. I definitely expect them to win another title now.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I definitely expect them to win another title now. *points to his sig* Plus, I knew it was going to end sometime... but it's just kind of disappointing it ended like this because in the first half they weren't even trying to win. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I was very saddened...I was thinking they would run the table in the playoffs. 70 Wins is just amazing and they STILL played all the big teams (Tenn, Duke, ....) and still held on. UCONN is still my pick to win it all...All 'Nova did was wake a sleeping giant...
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Choken One likes UCONN, too? I think I'm in love. Damn UCONN for not having any Diana Taurasi jerseys to buy.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Surprised? I just really respect great teams that don't rub it in your face. Really, It was the streak I was following...I am HUGE fan of Winning streaks...I was thinking they could get to 80 before losing (if they won tonight and ran the tourny...That would be 77 wins right there.) Still, They were a great team and still are. It's interesting to say that the Woman's NCAA tourny usually delievers an major finals while the Men's isn't known for that. I'd rather hear about women's basketball than listen to SportsCenter give Kobe blowjobs for about 2 weeks straight.

I'd rather they squash both and give a little bit of time to hockey...goddamn basketball takes up the first 20 minutes of every show now.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I'm glad the trade deadline in hockey is passed. Now I can stop hearing about that all day and get back to what really matters. NFL free agency and MLB spring training.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Did anyone see UConn's coach (I know his name, I just can't spell it) in the press conference though? That was funny as hell.. "What are you trying to say? You're acting like we should cancel the season now. It's just one fucking loss ... Of course it falls on my shoulders, but what am I gonna do? It's basketball. I can't shoot the ball for them." Very Jim Mora/Mike Ditka-ish. Actually, it was kind of Bobby Knight.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Huh? Really...I missed that...I don't think that would be any Knight/Ditka ish... He was right...It's just one fucking loss.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 12, 2003 He was kind of bullying the reporter. She sounded like a young, maybe college-age girl too. Might have been some kid on the school paper, and Gino just laid into her. He said a lot more than what I typed.
