Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 *sigh* I know I will probably get ripped for this because its very uncool to like them but hey I do I like mostly heavier stuff (as most here know) but ill admit it their simple lyrics and catchy beats hooked me so i finagled some tickets to the opening night of the underground tour, where they play a few clubs a a "thank you" to mostly fan club members before doing their headlining arena tour and then summer sanitarium firstly , no surprise, I was the oldest person there..with hundreds of people in line in the cold to pick up the "will call" tickets they decided to get the drinkers wristbands out of the way..out of hundreds of people I was like one of 5-10 only who were over 21 secondly inbetween opening band Blindside and LP they played Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" ..i swear I was the only person who knew what it was !! so anyway Blindside takes the stage about 8:15 and the guys (from Sweden or so the say) played a tight little 30 minute set..including their minor hit which the name escapes me but has that chorus "i remeber every word you said" they were nothing great but nothing bad either.. Linkin hits the stage around 9:15 with the Dj spinning a variation of the interlude on Hybrid Theory the place goes nuts as the rest of the band come out and launch into a track from Meteora , which is unknown to me as the album doesnt come out til march 25th. Second is new single "Somewhere I Belong" which prompts the first mega-sing-a-long (but not the last). next is another new track. Finally they do the hello to the crowds adn launch into some real Hybrid Theory stuff. "papercut " is unreal and should have been the opener.. the kiddies are already losing their minds and then they hit "points Of Authority" which is even better live..then right into "Runaway" another live pleaser. they kept mixing up some newer unknown stuff with other Theory cuts including my favorite "With You" and "By Myself" then we hit their big pop hits with "Crawling" and the quote/unquote last song "in The End" most of the kids left after that (apparently they havent been to many shows because everyone knows about the encore deal) and sure enough back out in 5 minutes with "A Place For My Head" another damn new song and then if you couldnt guess what the real last song was, it was of course "one Step Closer" once that first note hit for that I grabbed the little brother and said "we are beating the traffic lets go" a little miffed at no "My December" but Ive waitied a long time to hear all the tracks off the 1st album live AND it was great o be part of such a small venue performance of a band that can sell out arenas ..I think I freaked some parents out with my Cradle Of Filth "Dead Girls Dont Say No To Molestation After Dark" shirt..i think that stood out from the multitude of the LP shirts (never, never, never wear the shirt of the band you are seeing..thats a big rock no no)
