Well, well, well. It looks like the Mania match WILL happen afterall. Now, here is where I remind you that, yes indeedy, another week, and the feud is STILL the pits. It continues on it's path of suckage at a nice pace. But that's not the point.

 

HOW FUCKING STUPID IS KURT ANGLE? He's risking permanent injury by canceling this surgery and going ahead with this match. Regardless if you think Brock is safe or a walking accident, an injury could happen in ANY match. And yet Kurt goes through with this match for the good of the company.

 

When will he learn to put HIMSELF ahead of a company that treats him like a second class citizen? They have yet to give him a decent world title reign despite being the most over heel in the company, they ALWAYS, ALWAYS use him as a stepping stone instead of actually pushing him, and HE GOES ALONG WITH IT ALL. Now he is risking permanent neck injury to help the fucking company who will refuse to push him when he gets back. It's insane.

 

I really do like Kurt. He just makes it so fucking hard.

I wish he would job the title to someone, ANYONE, and go home and be with his daughter for a year. By going ahead with this match, he's risking not only permanent injury, but paralysis. I don't even want to think about what could happen if he lands wrong.

While I think it's stupid that he's risking fucking up his neck permanently, he DID win the gold medal with a broken neck, so he's shown he can still go, even with his neck not being 100%.

 

My bet is that they shoot his neck full of whatever they can to numb it up and then send him out there.

The sad deal is that the WWE will probably shunt it down the card, just so that a possible Angle injury wouldn't end the card on a bad or somber note...which is the last thing the feud needs in the first place.

 

But that's all trivial - I admire Angle's consummate professionalism (take this incident in contrast with Shawn Michaels' multiple detours around jobbing), but I really worry about the physical risks involved here. The last thing that Angle's family, Kurt Angle, or even the WWE needs is for Kurt Angle to be injured in a lasting and debilitating manner.

Always knew you didn't really like Kurt Angle, so this is hardly a surprise. The man's obsessed with being the best. To take that desire away from him would be to take away what makes him great. And we still really don't know what condition his neck's in. Haven't heard anything nearly as specific as we did with Edge's neck injury.

Either way it doesn't matter. He's still putting his livelihood on the line. The payday shouldn't make it alright for his family. He's being kinda selfish in that respect, away from the industry.

Of course, it could just be Kurt ignoring everyone including Youngblood, for christ's sake. Just so I'm correct, can't Youngblood step in and voice his concern over it? Doctors do that all the time, and you've heard of one example with Jericho back in Smokey Mountain Wrestling (it's in the Lance Storm shoot article by teke).

Of course he does. He understood the consequences back in 1996. It's a matter of him coming to the realization that your family and your well-being should come before your job, or your personal achievements.

While I certainly can't agree with Angle's decision, it is his decision to make. It would be nice if Vince would step in and force him to miss Mania on doctor's orders, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. When it comes down to it, no one can protect you from yourself.

Which is exactly why Kurt Angle is going to wrestle at WrestleMania.

 

Kurt Angle understands that Main Eventing WrestleMania is a priveledge only the greats (and Bam Bam Bigelow) experience. Kurt Angle understands his legacy will be set in stone forever when that bell rings and the Main Event is over in Seattle. Kurt Angle knows that anything other than him and Brock would not be fair to the fans (even though we know he has no need to please us). Kurt Angle has given his life to wrestling, and now as reports are saying, wrestling may take his life. Kurt Angle however does not care. Kurt Angle is a different type of person to most. Kurt Angle has lived by one word: Excellence. For Kurt Angle nothing else matters when he gets in the ring.

 

Sorry for being over dramatic, but the more I think about this, the more heroic Kurt Angle seems to me. He is willing to put his career, livelihood and more importantly than anything else, his life on the line for us. And while he doesn't have to, while we would all understand if he chose not to, he will anyway. If there is any justice in this world, Kurt Angle will walk away from the Main Event at WresleMania of his own accord and every wrestling in the world fan on their feet applauding him.
