Why in the hell do you want to see WM IX? It's the worst WWF PPV ever.

King Mabel and a ME of Diesel and Bam Bam vs. Tatanka and Sid or Yoko beating Bret in a screwjob only to get screwed by Hogan...

This is like getting asked if you'd rather get hit in the head with a baseball bat or get repeatedly stomped in the nuts.

At what time did it start? I mean it looks light out when Hogan "pins" Yoko.

All the old WM shows used to start around 2:00 Eastern or so. Add that to the fact that this was in Las Vegas, which is on Pacific time, and it means the show probably started at 11 PST.

WrestleMania IX > WrestleMania XV

WM IX had shitty matches, WM XV had shitty clusterfucks.

I'm trying to get all the Wrestlemanias. My friend let me borrow Wrestlemania IX at school so I'm not paying for it. I just wanted to know because I have a 6-hour tape and Wrestlemania VIII is already on there and would like to put IX on there too.

With WMIX just watch the first 10 Minutes for Savage and Bobby alone and Turn it off right there.

What's crazy about Wrestlemania IX is that big stars such as Jake Roberts, Sid, British Bulldog, Legion of Doom, Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior, Roddy Piper, Big Bossman, Earthquake, etc are nowhere to be found. They all returned later to the WWF at some time, but its amazing they are all MIA for this Wrestlemania (who could have predicted at Wrestlemania VIII that none of these guys would be in the WWF the following year). Also its just strange that Randy Savage is doing commentary and not wrestling (a year before he won the title at Wrestlemania).

They could have easily shorten a few of the matches (such as the long Tatanka-HBK match and the long tag team match between Money Inc and the MegaManiacs) to fit in Kamala vs Bam Bam Bigelow (which was supposed to happen but never did due to time contraints).

This Wrestlemania was around 2 and a half hours because the main event (Bret Hart vs Yokozuna) was supposed to last at least 10 minutes longer. Yokozuna got winded, so they had to significantly shorten the match.

The Michaels/Tatanka match was probably the best match on the card. I wouldnt wanna shorten that up for a friggin' Bam Bam/Kamala stinker.

I must be the only one that enjoyed WrestleMania IX.

It's a guilty pleasure. Something about open air wrestling events I just love......except most of the Road Wild PPV's......all but the first one sucked.

But I remember a WCW TV show that was outside and it started raining. That was cool.

I have a soft spot in my heart for WrestleMania IX. It was the first Mania after I became a wrestling fan, and I saw it rather soon after it happened (no PPV in my town, but I knew someone who lived out of town how had a dish, and I got a copy of the tape from him). In my markdom, I loved the show. Looking back, I can see it wasn't very good, but I liked it back in 1993.

WrestleMania IX was actually the first PPV I ordered so I have a soft spot in my heart for that show - even though it did, in retrospect, blow.

The buildup to Hart / Yoko was great. Yoko goes over everyone - even Savage - and puts Duggan on the DL for months. He and Fuji think they'll have a cake walk against Bret. Bret, meanwhile, has beaten just about everyone on the roster - from Flair to HBK to Razor to Bigelow. Yoko's size had been too much for everyone he had stepped into the ring with at that point but Bret had walked into just about all of his title defenses as the underdog and left with the belt.

I was watching it with my parents so when Bret lost I couldn't scream "FUCK!" like I wanted - but it was there just waiting to come out.

I also liked the Steiners / Headshrinkers match and the IC title bout. The rest of the card wasn't bad from a matchup perspective - but I saw no reason for just about every heel to go over in some controversial fashion. Have you seen Perfect vs. Luger? LAME ASS FINISH!

I'm a mark for outdoor events.

How did HBK end up "feuding" with Tatanka in the first place?

And didn't Michaels attack Hennig after the Perfect/Luger match to start up a feud between the two?

I'd call it more of a rivalry than a feud. It started with Tatanka going over HBK in a non-title match on Superstars, taped the day after the Rumble. Then he pinned HBK a second time in a 6-man tag on Raw. That was pretty impressive since HBK had been just about untouchable since winning the IC title.

Yep, HBK jumped Perfect after the match - which led to one of the best feuds of the year.

I also somewhat enjoyed WM IX... in fact, I'd take IX over XI anyday. Like others, I mark for outdoor arenas, and IX had such an awesome set up.

I think that was WCW Saturday Night from SpeedStreet. It hosted the Slim Jim Challenge which was a 4-man tournament with the winner to face Renegade for the TV Title. Orndorff beat Duggan in one semi while I believe Pillman defeated Big Bubba Rogers in the other semi. Orndorff went on to defeat Flyin Brian and become the first and only Slim Jim Champion! BTW, he lost his match with Renegade at the ppv.

Meanwhile, in the arena, Randy Savage squashed Stunning Steve Austin in a 2nd round U.S. Title Tournament match which was one of, if not, Austin's last WCW match.

And it did start to rain during a Nasty Boys' squash against 2 nobodies.

While WCW in 1995 wasn't very good, that particular show was definitely a lot of fun!

On the subject of WrestleMania IX, even at nine years old, I marked out at Lex Luger's entrance with the 4 bikini-clad girls and then Perfect brushing them off on his way to the ring. Steiners/Headshrinkers was another match that a Joe Q. Public can sit and enjoy while not knowing beans about 'rasslin.

But only IX had a match featuring CRUSH, I think.

I prefer XI over IX, just 'cause of the Michaels/Diesel match. It's such a fun match to watch.

IX was the first Mania for me after becoming a WWF fan, but I could tell even then that the results pretty much blew. I didn't like how so many of the heels won (isn't Mania THE event where the faces triumph?) and I could smell the fishiness of the Hogan victory (at the age of 11).

The outdoor setting and the theme are the only redeeming factors of that Mania. I wouldn't mind WWE trying it again, only with a better card and better booking (HA!).

Nothing beats the greatness of the original two Doinks angle, and Bill Alfonso looking like a dick while he tries to fathom that there are two Doinks.

I need to watch this show again. When I first saw it, it was entertaining. Now I think it's entertaining as Wrestlecrap. And there are some cool moments, like Hall's victory over Backlund.
