Why WrestleMania XIX needs

Recommended Posts

Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate

As of now, there are a great many matches scheduled for WMXIX as well as a great many superstars left on the sidelines due to a lack of a storyline/PPV time constraints.

This is why I propose a WrestleMania Interpromotional Battle Royal, the winner to receive a shot at their respective brand's title sometime (Backlash?). Think of all the people who could be involved:

RAW:

RVD

Kane

Steiner

Maven

Nowinski

Rosey

Jamal

Rico

G-G-GOLGOLddddust

Christian

Test

Al Snow

Morley

Spike

Richards

Dreamer

SMACKDOWN!:

DeMott

Crash

Palumbo

O'Haire

Nunzio

Stamboli

Funaki

Noble

Tajiri

Cena(~!)

Rikishi

Moore

It'd be an entertaining use of 20 minutes and 28 superstars, no?

They just did this two months ago. If they still had the Hardcore title I would say do the Hardcore battle royal like they did at WM 2000 that was pretty entertaining for featuring jobbers.

What would having a Battle Royale help? Why waste 20 minutes that could be used on other matches.

Instead of seeing some lame Battle Royale I'd much rather matches like Rey vs. Matt and Guerreros vs. Team Angle vs. Beniot/Rhyno get an extra 5 minutes.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Battle Royal. Its the biggest show of the year and like it or not, everyone should get to participate.

The Battle Royal would suck though, if the biggest name in the match won.

There's no way that everyone should participate in WM. The only people that should be on WM are either those with a storyline to continue/end at WM or those who have a matche that's been hyped up for WM.

It's suppose to be WWe's Super Bowl so it shouldn't be a PPV where you can decide throw any halfassed match on just because you have time.

If you're going to find an excuse to use some high midcarders who have no role but continue to get airtime and a position on the shows (like RVD, Hardy, Kane, etc) maybe have a gauntlet match or something with 5-6 names with the winner getting a title shot at Backlash or, dare I say it, the winner gets the reinstated Intercontinental title?

But they just did a battle royale for a title shot on Raw like 2 weeks ago, they shouldn't do another one this soon.

They used to just throw shit out there if they had time. Remember Skinner Vs. Owen Hart @ Wrestlemania 8?

I'm begining to hate EVERY Battle Royal, even the Royal Rumble. WWE seems to have forgotten how to book one, and the last few just have been so borring and pointless (except the first 10-15 minutes of this past Royal Rumble, they seemed to be going in the right dirrection with it, but they just dropped the ball with it, as usual).

I say never do ANY Battle Royal, except for the Royal Rumble. They need the RR to mean as much as they can, and by having one of those matches only once a year, it will help that.

Maybe they could have a battle royale with the remaining Raw guys with the winner taking back the IC title?

Bringing back the IC title would be the only good reason to have a Battle Royale at WM.

And a Battle Royale for a newly reinstated title would still be lame.

WM2 had a fairly legendary battle royal. WM4 featured one that turned Bret Hart face, fairly big moment. WM2000 had a decent lil hardcore battle royal. WMX7 had the ultimat markout battle royal with the gimmicks. Not really a bad track record of these matches at the big show.

I dont think itd be such a bad idea, and with this many workers on the roster it wouldnt hurt to through 10-20 guys out there in one, maybe hardcore rules. Marks dig these matches.

This really has nothing to do with WM 19, but what about a concept PPV for WM XX? Like each match mimmicks a match from the past?

And those either had a good purpose or real stars in them. Hardcore and Gimmick only worked because of the novelty factor as both were pretty awful matches.

A Battle Royale where Kane, Scott Steiner, RVD and Cena are the only stars that could use the win as a starting point of a major push would not be a good thing.

Do you honestly think winning a Battle Royale filled mainly with jobbers in the eyes of the marks would make for a good starting point for a major push towards a world title? The reinstated IC title going to the winner of a Battle Royale filled with jobbers in the eyes of the marks wouldn't be a good way to bring that belt back.

That would be cool. Although, knowing the WWE lately, they'd pick the saddest of the "classic" matches.

Good points Satanico. But say its a 20 man battle royal. Have 10 guys be 'jobbers' and 5 midcard nothings and 5 uppercard guys with nothing better to do. Give it a few minutes to clear the riffraff and a couple of decent guys. Bring it down to a final 5 with a couple 'jobbers'. Finish and give the win in a manner that might jumpstart a feud or two. (WM4) This scenario elevates somebody, puts somebody deserving over, entertainment for marks, and uses a lil time wisely with guys who otherwise would be doing nothing.

Im not saying wwe could/would pull off such a thing, but, to me anyway, the idea seems workable/beneficial.

they probably will have one they like to try and get the guys in there for a payoff if they can

although there was none that last two

WM2000 - hardcore deal

XV battle royal on Heat for tag title shot with DLo Test

XIV - the LOD 2000 battle royal

IMO they should have a cruiserweight number 1 contender match and make it like 6 or 8 ppl and have quite a few suprise enterants.
