Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 13, 2003 The Clippers were ROBBED!!! The score was tied with 1.1 seconds left. Andre Miller of the Clips made the first free throw. 105-104 Clippers. He missed the second one on purpose and they tipped the ball away, thus ending the game... ...or so everyone with a fucking set of eyes thought. All of a sudden, the ref says take a point off, we're going to overtime because Andre stepped over the line before the free throw went in! Bullshit! Replays showed that Andre was indeed behind the line until the ball went through the hoop! Besides, don't you think that fucking information would have been useful before he shot the 2nd free throw? I have officially witnessed everything and this just proves my point that the Refs are Fucking Stupid and there is a conspiracy against the Clippers! Rant over. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I take it that you like the Clippers... I dunno, I guess that referee's upholding rules seems OK in my book.

Guest GameCop Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Yeah, I saw that on FSW, too. Ralph Lawler, the Clippers' announcer, pointed out-- after showing the replay-- that Andre Miller didn't step over the line until the basketball went through the hoop. Miller, however, was cited for the same penalty earlier in the game; this infraction, however, was warranted. The latter one, though, was bogus as Ralph Lawler said multiple times. Lawler's law is still in effect, because the Clippers REALLY won this game.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Sean Elliot even pointed out the crappy officiating in this game on NBA Tonight. Miller was clearly behind the line after the ball went in and you just don't make calls like that with 1.1 seconds left in a tie game. What ever happened to letting the players decide the game. Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I'd say that this decision should probably go in the annals of "fucking ridiculous calls". If they had called this previous to the second shot I might have some sympathy but a retroactive call like that just isn't right...
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I saw that on Sportcenter. If they called that every time it happend then it would be all the time...they were looking for it or something, I can't explain any other reason.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Well, according to the hometown Chronicle, Steve Francis was telling the refs that Miller was violating the foul line rule and NOT neccessarily with his feet. The rule, if I'm not mistaken (I'm sure if I am I'll be corrected, I don't know the rule book by heart), states that ANY part of the shooter's body passing the foul line before the shot hits the rim is a violation. Miller was clearly leaning well over the line on the first. On the second it looked like he was consciously making sure he was standing straight and he, of course, clangs it off the front of the rim. Just my opinion that it was the correct call to make, but a very strange time to make it. And it wasn't even the first time the Clips got called for it, IIRC. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 14, 2003 That can't be the rule, because guy's arms go over all the time. And even so, Shaq breaks the rule all the time with his feet and never gets it called.

And even so, Shaq breaks the rule all the time with his feet and never gets it called. That's true! Your hands and arms always break the plane of the line. What about guys like Anthony Mason who are practically leaning past the line before he shoots. Regardless of the rule, you just don;t make a call like that in a tied game with 1.1 seconds left. Guest swan Report post Posted March 14, 2003 The Clippers were ROBBED!!! The only crime I see is still allowing the Clippers to compete in the NBA. I hear the CBA is looking to expand next season.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 14, 2003 The only crime I see is still allowing the Clippers to compete in the NBA. I hear the CBA is looking to expand next season. Dude, they would totally dominate the CBA! They could do the same in the NBA if they weren't discriminated against by the league and its officials. The NBA's bias against the Clips is increasingly making the outcomes of games as predetermined as wrestling and heavyweight boxing!
Guest swan Report post Posted March 14, 2003 The NBA's bias against the Clips is increasingly making the outcomes of games as predetermined as wrestling and heavyweight boxing! Bwahahahahah. Wouldn't the Clippers have to have a reason for the league to be biased against them first? And I was joking about the CBA, geeesh.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 15, 2003 And I was joking about the CBA, geeesh. I figured that. Wouldn't the Clippers have to have a reason for the league to be biased against them first? I'll tell you the reason. David Stern is pissed off that Donald Sterling is making a mockery of one of the teams in his league by not attempting to put together a winning team. Why else would Stern refuse to show any Clipper games while they played at the Sports Arena? I remember 3 or 4 years ago, when the Clippers were in the 1st round of the playoffs against the Jazz and that was the only game not televised by NBC during the series. That was the only playoff series that had all of their games televised on TBS/TNT.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 15, 2003 How could anyone like a heartless team like the Clippers. Before you mention the owner, can you honestly tell me the Clippers should be has bad as they are.

Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted March 15, 2003 It's one bad call, but it's not a conspiracy against the Clippers. Clippers are a team which looks decent on paper, but almost always has the motivational switch set to off. Some of this can be directly put on Sterling, who doesn't have "reward your players" listed anywhere on his to-do list. This is obvious when most of your roster is looking toward free agency at the end of the season. Still, the Clippers could be at least close to a .500 win season based on the talent that they have on the floor.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 15, 2003 Still, the Clippers could be at least close to a .500 win season based on the talent that they have on the floor. That's the problem! Out of 64 or 65 games this season including the pre-season, the Clippers top 10 players have played together a whopping total of 1 game! We're not talking about a team with a couple of Superstars and 10 bums, this team is filled with up and coming so-so guys, so not being able to play together really hurts. Guest Still Fly Report post Posted March 15, 2003 Regarding the Clippers, where to start? Boy, what a dissapointment! Being a resident LA native, the Clippers are my second favorite team after the Lakers. I am so dissapointed with the clips season. I mean the best young talent in the NBA and only 19 wins to show? Hopefully when Larry Brown jets out of Philly this year, Eligin and Donald can give him a second go around. Brown is the only LA Clipper coach with a winning record! The blame has to be put on Sterling. The guy could have locked Odom, Kandi Man and Brand but he doesnt seem to give damn. Genty tried his damndest but lost it at the end. I mean why is racist Donald Sterling a FUCKING NBA OWNER IN THE 2ND LARGEST MARKET IN THE US! He cant even get an over the air deal here. Stern please ban Donald from! So they didn't have a healthy team all season. Most times don't have a healthy roster every game. The Kings, Spurs, Lakers, and T-Wolves all had key players miss time. You're letting your team off the hook PR.

But its different if the Lakers don't have Madsen, Horry and Medvedenko and the Clips don;t have Kandi, Brand and Odom. Injuries happen but this is like 3 times as bad as all the injuries lately in the WWE.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted March 17, 2003 Last season Shaq commited the free throw violation at least 5 times a game, but for some reason the officials just ignored it. Then once it was pointed out, the officials called him on it maybe once or twice. Every time he carried his 2nd foot over the line right after he relased the ball. It was utter Bullshit that the officials ignored that when it would be the EASIEST thing to see.

Guest evilhomer Report post Posted March 17, 2003 Regardless of the rule, you just don;t make a call like that in a tied game with 1.1 seconds left. Well you do make the call actually, but you make the call when the incident occurs, not after the next play. I admittedly don't know all the rules of basketball, but in every other sport, when the puck is dropped, when the next pitch is thrown, when the next play starts, the call stands. I've never heard of a ref making a call after an entire new set of plays have occured. If retroactive calls are allowed in basketball then they are fucking morons.
