Guest GameCop Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 According to Meltzer, these are the buy-rates for the last couple of PPV's: Survivor Series: 0.86 Armageddon: 0.50 (I hope this ends the speculation of whether or not HHH or HBK are draws) Royal Rumble: 0.95 (down from last year's 1.60)
J.B. Buzzkill Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 Armageddon: 0.50 (I hope this ends the speculation of whether or not HHH or HBK are draws) Probably not.
Guest Steviekick Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 I'm suprised that Armageddon did that well. No one at all seemed interested in watching that PPV.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Why Armageddon didn't draw by bps21: 1. Everyone, even the dumbest of marks, new that HHH was winning. He being the bad guy...no one wanted to see it. 2. HBK had already wrestled 3 matches...one on free TV. The luster was off. 3. RVD was at the World. Fuck you! It counts!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 But but but, the Torrie/Dawn Marie video!!! People wanted to see the two have sex!!! That's why they did it! It HAD TO HAVE WORKED! That's what the fans want!!!! This figures are obviously wrong. If not, it's because of Eddie/Benoit in the undercard... sucking the life out of the PPV...
Guest teke184 Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 It's that RVD's fault... he injured the waitress and busted her open at The World!
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Kurt Angle was ME'ing Armageddon as well. Lest we forget.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I think we did all forget seeing as 99.9% of the buildup for the show was the HHH/HBK match...and not the Big Show/Angle match that I think started about an hour and a half in to the show...if not earlier.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Armageddon was the big blow-off to HHH and HBK. The blame rests with them. Fans just didn't want to see it. That said, the Dec ppv is traditionally the lowest of the bunch.
Guest razazteca Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Just curious but is the DVD any good, is the extra Smackdown match worth buying the thing?
Guest bob_barron Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Yea- I got the DVD and the 4-way makes it worth it
Guest ISportsFan Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 According to Meltzer, these are the buy-rates for the last couple of PPV's: Survivor Series: 0.86 Armageddon: 0.50 (I hope this ends the speculation of whether or not HHH or HBK are draws) Royal Rumble: 0.95 (down from last year's 1.60) All these assumptions can be refuted by someone with actual data from Meltzer on how many homes are in the PPV universe, etc. Survivor Series: The Elimination Chamber cost $500,000. Assuming WWE gets to keep 50% of the PPV revenue (cable companies get the other half), and assuming the PPV universe is 40 million homes big, 344,000 houses bought the PPV. This would generate a little over $6 million for WWE, but payment for all the wrestlers would have to be taken out. Armageddon: Just pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Royal Rumble: Proof Steiner wasn't worth the money? Right there. Proof everyone knew Brock was going to win? Right there. Proof that Benoit/Angle, if promoted more, would have raised the buyrate? Not there, but I think it might have helped a little if they did it better. Jason
Guest Space_Cowboy Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Looks like HBK just keeps adding to his history of drawing terrible numbers.
