The Cardinals are actually trying to rebuild after the disaterous Jake Plummer era. But signing a decent but unspectacular safety who had one great game, an unproven back up QB and possibly a washed up Emmit Smith isn't going to do you any better then a 7-9 record.

Thoughts about these deals?

How was Jake Plumber a disaster?

He lead them to their first playoff win in a long time only to have the owner dismantle the team right after that.

I'm not saying Jake Plummer was a disaster, I'm saying the Jake Plummer era was a disaster. Plummer himself has a lot of potential when put with a good team.

I think the problem is that management doesn't want to win. Everytime the team shows some promise they trade everyone away for crap or just let them walk.

What about Pittsburgh? That comment went over my head.

Sounds like Emmitt might end up in the valley of the sun. I lliked this line: "For some reason, coming out here to Arizona, I've always felt like being at home."

Emmitt, you have always had good games at AZ because you played AGAINST them, not WITH them...

Remember Desmond Howard anyone? Why do these people who win Super Bowls find the need to go elsewhere the following year? They usually go to sorry teams too. I mean are they getting paid that much more?

Jackson took the money because he knows it's 4 times as much as he'll ever be offered for the rest of his life. He'll probably just retire when his contract is up. Too bad Arizona will cut him first.

As for Emmitt, he still thinks he should start. Arizona is probably the only team in the league that will let him start. It's a natural fit, though a decidedly crappy one.

In a way, I can understand that. You now have an opportunity for financial security, so why not take advantage of it? Still, going from the Super Bowl champs to a constantly mismanaged team is probably not the route that I'd take.

Well he's already won his Super Bowl which is every football players dream. Since he's already won the big game there's no reason for him to not go for big money no matter what team he goes to.

This reminds me of that guy from the Cowboys after he beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl. Didn't he jump ship to the Raiders shortly thereafter?...

Yes Larry Brown...he should thank Neil Odonnel for allowing him to rob the Raiders.

Pittsburgh was the top suitor for Jackson for the most part

i would have liked to have him cause the steelers secondary is a wreck (my favorite team) BUT the good side is now the Steelers arent overpaying for him
