He did so after the fact. That isn't proof. By that time almost everybody in America (yourself included) was convinced he was guilty anyway. So it ain't like he had anything to lose by taking credit for it. He could simply have been doing so to make himself more of a hero to anti-American extremists. I mean, was someone gonna stand up and complain he was taking credit for it because THEY were responsible? Maybe you think this is Iraq or some other harsh Middle Eastern dictatorship that it sounds like you'd enjoy living in, but here in America taking credit for 9/11 doesn't make him a culprit - just a suspect. The center of the symbol of the most advanced nation on Earth is only accessable to us by a clumsy spiral staircase that screams "DEATH!". That was just too cool. And running down it after the disappointment of reaching the top was the best part, IMHO.
