Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 For those of you who don't know tonight on Game Show Netwrok at 9pm they will show the infamous episode of Press Your Luck featuring Michael Larsen, who managed to memorize the pattern sequence on the Big Board and won in excess of 100,000 dollars over the course of some 30+ spins. For years CBS never allowed the episodes (it went so long it was split over 2 shows) to be broadcast in syndication or reruns. Tonight is the first time this stuff will be aired since 1984.
Guest T®ITEC Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Damn, that's pretty cool. I heard about that guy... Well, should be some fine watchin'.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 I'm going over to friends house to watch it. We're having a fucking party for it.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 I know I'm watching it. Snopes has a page on it...
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 For years CBS never allowed the episodes (it went so long it was split over 2 shows) to be broadcast in syndication or reruns. Tonight is the first time this stuff will be aired since 1984. No, it aired on the USA network a couple of years ago. They marketed it as a "one time only" thing.
Guest Lethargic Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I thought this was just a documentary? The commercials didn't say anything about showing the actual episodes. What ever happened to the damn movie they were gonna make about it starring Bill Murray?
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 It's not the actual episode... it is just a documentary.
Guest Nevermortal Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Hey Flyboy, why is Mayam Bialik in your sig?
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Wow. It's 8:59pm EST for me and I *just* stumbled across this thread. I just turned to Game Show Network to watch. Sounds right up my alley. Big Bucks!!!
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Did anyone's volume/audio go loopey for awhile?
Guest hardyz1 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I hope they replay it sometime when I can actually watch it.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 They are trying way too hard to make Michael Larsen look like a criminal/psychopath.
Guest Eagan469 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Anyone else having audio problems? The commentary keeps fading out below the music... Otherwise, great show so far
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 For years CBS never allowed the episodes (it went so long it was split over 2 shows) to be broadcast in syndication or reruns. Tonight is the first time this stuff will be aired since 1984. No, it aired on the USA network a couple of years ago. They marketed it as a "one time only" thing. As far as I remmember it never aired while on USA Look at Bill Murray in the Royal Tennenbaums. He grew that beard to play Michael Larsen, but the film went into turnaround. I'd love to get a crack at that script one day. And someone at Game Show Network, fix your damn sound, the thing keeps going silent. There's the real scandal.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 The audio is getting annoying, but this show is awesome (although it's bias as hell).
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Man Larsen was a machine, my Dad an I are loving this. BEST EPISODE EVER!
Guest fazzle Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Well, at least they did ONE segment to make it seem like Larsen was smart, instead of an evil psychotic human being. If they were so stupid as to give someone a chance to make that much money that easily, then they deserved to get fucked.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I'm marking out for this shit and I don't even know why.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 They are trying way too hard to make Michael Larson look like a criminal/psychopath. I don't think so. Naturally some people are a little pissed still that he got away with it. They're portaying him as a quirky, calculating genius. And that's kinds how he was. Plus he's from around my town.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Bullshit.. They are making him seem like a "evil psychotic human being" and that's the end of it.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Bullshit.. They are making him seem like a "evil psychotic human being" and that's the end of it. No need to snap like a rabid dog my friend. It's just an opinion and I merely offered a disagreement. I think I am allowed to do that without getting snapped at.
Guest fazzle Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Blah, and now they're trying to discredit him, in an "anybody can do it" style segment. Well, sure, except nobody else was smart enough to actually, you know, figure the pattern out.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Man I got that pattern nailed, quick I need a time machine to take me back to Feb 1984
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 And I bet HHH is behind this whole "discredit Larsen and make him look bad style you guys see." Watching this I have nothing but admiration for the man.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Um... I didn't snap at you. I believe you said the words "bullshit" and "that's the end of it" directly after my disagreement. I take that as getting snapped at. But there's no need for arguements. I'm sorry if I came off as a dick. Let's drop it.
Guest fazzle Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Plus I bet it was Larsen's fault that the female contestant gained 50 pounds and a bad dye job. It's his damn fault! Cheater! Evil! Damn him to hell!
Guest Flyboy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Um... I didn't snap at you. I believe you said the words "bullshit" and "that's the end of it" directly after my disagreement. I take that as getting snapped at. But there's no need for arguements. I'm sorry if I came off as a dick. Let's drop it. I'm sorry if I came off as a dick, too. Sorry bro.

Aw man let's never fight again....I LUUUUVVV YOU BRO
Guest JHawk Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 This is cool as hell! Making it seem random when it's not? Sometimes you deserve to get nailed. And right now, they basically just said that legally, this guy was the smartest guy alive. ADDITIONAL: They just put in more patterns? Why not actually make it "random" like it was supposed to be? I'm surprised they didn't get burned again with it.
