Just curious.

For the record, I use them. However, I have a few rules.

1) I usually use them when that product is also on sale. Most of the time brand names, even with a coupon, are still more expensive than the perfectly adequate generic label.

2) I don't have the coupons all crumpled up before presenting them to the cashier.

3) If the coupon needs to have a $ amount filled (Get *insert product free*) in I do it in advance because the cashier has no idea how much it costs off the top of her head (Heck, I wouldn't either).

Overall, I usually save about 10 percent off my total with coupons alone. Anyone else?...

Oh hell, yeah, I use coupons. I also do comparison shopping and buy meats in bulk etc. You gotta save money wherever you can, right?

Do you use a supermarket's special card? (I.E. Kroger, Giant Eagle, etc?)

I base my whole eating lifestyle around the Kroger card.

However, I do 99% of my grocery shopping at one place. I remember as a kid being with my dad as he drove to three different supermarkets because one place had apples 10 cents cheaper per pound than the other store.

I then asked him why he drove all around for such a small savings. He gave some stupid excuse, and I retorted by saying, But doesn't that savings get sucked up due to all the gas you're using driving from place to place?"

No answer...

I used them and also go to different grocery stores HEB for the bakery and Walmart just because it so close to the house.

I thought Koger went out of business, one thing I notice about the membership deals is that its just a gimmick to keep costumers as the savings are really not earth shattering. Yeah you might save a dollar on item X but item Y is 50 cent over regular price.

Coupons are my friend as well as rebates, discounts and anything else that saves me money.

I use the "member's" card because there's no point in paying whatever ridiculous "non-member" price they list. It doesn't cost anything so it's no skin off my back if I have one.

But I really don't drive around to find the prices. I'm the type that looks in the flyers (Kroger, Randalls and HEB) and bases my shopping decisions from there. But I ALWAYS buy my veggies from the Chinese supermarket since they're almost always cheaper and, well, I need my Chinese greens.

Heavens no. I scoff at coupons. It's worth my time to pore over a newspaper for a few hours and clip out a few coupons, all to save $7.00 at the grocery store. I have a "club card" at the store I frequent, and the promotional prices I can get with that save me more than clipping coupons would.

Boycott Kroger.

I work at a very large Kroger warehouse. Take solace in knowing I probably threw your Pop Tarts 15 feet onto a forklift, fucking the box up. There's also mice and birds that live in there, but that's true anyplace.

If it's non-perishable, and you got it at Kroger, there's a slight chance I might've had my grubby fingers on it.

DUH! Use your Card AND Coupons..save even more money!

I primarily find the grocery stores that have things other than essentials that are on sale and that I have a coupon on. Sure, it might take a little extra time, but, getting $75 worth of groceries every 2 weeks for about $30-40 is worth it.
