Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted March 17, 2003 1>Did Royce Gracie continue shoot fighting after UFC 4? if so VS who and what were the outcomes of the fights? ( I know he quit the UFC fights at that point) 2>How pissed were the UFC officials when "their" Golden Boy Mark Coleman lost to Extreme Fighting Champion Maurice Smith during UFC 14? It seems they had an "agenda" of sorts againist Smith for that victory. 3> Also did Coleman ever make a significant comeback after that loss? 4> And did Mark Kerr ever fight for the Superfight or Hwt titles after winning the 2 mini tourneys in a row? 5> What's the fastest KO or Submission that was ever registered? Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted March 17, 2003 5 Gilbert Yvel vs Gary Goodridge it was one kick to the head in the opening seconds of the match That's not the one where he flips the guy over and elbows him out right? What PPV is the Yvel/Goodrigde fight from?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 17, 2003 2. I dunno really...Coleman was dominating. Plus they way they looked at it they figured it might be good marketing to have a minority as their champ. He beat the shit out of Mark too...I hate to see that match cause at the end it's just sad watching Mark try to shoot only to get beaten up more. I like Mo Smith. 3. Not in UFC really. He got knocked the fuck out by Pete Williams a little later. Kick right to the face on a slumping Colemen. 5. Gilbert Yvel? Was that the show in the U.K where Ian Freeman won? The Brists went 2-2 that night.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 17, 2003 Pride 13 Return of the Warrior was the Yvel vs Goodridge match. Not sure about Mark Kerr in UFC but early on during his monster unstoppable days he won a tourny in Brazil in the 90s, it was one of the early World Vale Tudo Championships from Sao Paulo or Rio de Jenerio. sorry about the spelling. It was almost the same as Pride format but they could be on the ground guard forever with the ref just looking for the tap out. Sorry I was not specific on UFC but I have not rented their tapes recently. I think the fastest KO had to be in the early shows since most matches back then did not go past 2 minutes. That's not the one where he flips the guy over and elbows him out right? was that the match that Gary wore the blue gee? if so than it was UFC3?
Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted March 17, 2003 1> Sure. He fought Ken Shamrock to a 35 min. draw at UFC 5. He beat Nobuhiko Takada by decision in the 1st round of the Grand Prix 2000 in PRIDE before losing in the second round to Sakuraba by TKO (towel throw) after 90 minutes of action. He also fought Hidehiko Yoshida at PRIDE/K-1 Shockwave but got fucked over by the ref in that match and lost by ref stoppage. Yoshida had him in a "choke" but in actuality his arm wasn't even touching Royce's throat. That was the last fight Royce participated in. 2> Never heard anything about that, but I wouldn't be surprised. 3> Oh, yeah. Even though he lost to Pete Williams by KO and Pedro Rizzo by decision, he came back better than ever in PRIDE. After a loss to Nobuhiko Takada in a match that most everybody believes was a worked shoot, he came back and defeated Ricardo Morais at PRIDE 8 by decision. He than beat Masaaki Satake, Akira Shoji, Kazuyuki Fujita, and Igor Vovchanchyn in succession to win the PRIDE Grand Prix. After that he beat Allan Goes by TKO, before losing to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira by submission at PRIDE 16. He's been mostly inactive since then, though. 4> No 5> I may be wrong, but the quickest in PRIDE was when Bob Sapp KO'd Kiyoshi Tamura in 0:11 at PRIDE 21. Whew, that's pretty fast. I'm too lazy to check prowrestlinghistory.com right now, but that's where the real answer lies if you're looking for fight times for UFC, PRIDE or any other major promotions. That was sick...he had that guys arms trapped and was killing him with elbows to the side of the head.
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted March 17, 2003 IIRC, Gilbert Yvel vs Gary Goodridge is on Pride: Return of the Warriors. The match goes like this: The two meet in the center and Yvel lands a roundhouse kick to the temple to end the match as quickly as it started. It's a wicked kick and the only guy that doesn't know it right away is Big Daddy who is out cold.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 17, 2003 A couple of fast Pride KOs were mentioned. I believe the fastest UFC KO is Mark Weir knocking out Eugene Jackson with one punch at UFC 38. Whole match was 10 seconds long.
