Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted March 17, 2003 So I watched part one of the Children of Dune miniseries last night, and so far I'm enjoying it. But I have to ask you all a question- doesn't it remind you a LOT of the Godfather series? I mean, you got the leader of a powerfull family who wants to step down, intrigue, plots against his life, and finally the ending montage of 3 supporting characters being killed off. Your thoughts? Guest J*ingus Report post Posted March 17, 2003 Well, the montage was definitely Godfatheresque, but the plot, characters, and events are all taken from the original novels (which were inspired partly by author Frank Herbet's drug-induced fantasies, as the rumor goes). Guest Vyce Report post Posted March 18, 2003 I'll just say this: that awful Lynch Dune film from the 80s left such a bad taste in my mouth for this franchise that I've never watched any of the subsequent miniseries, and haven't even picked up the books to read.
