Guest converge241 Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Mar. 18 - With the clock seemingly ticking on Laveranues Coles' Jets career, the mercurial Johnson just might be itching for a Big Apple return. The New York Post is reporting that Johnson, who has a "prickly" relationship with Bucs coach Jon Gruden, has placed at least one call to the Jets to gauge their interest in bringing him back. However, the Bucaneers' salary cap constraints may represent a stumbling block in any trade discussions. espn.com
Guest Flyboy Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I wouldn't doubt it. I thought last year was Johnson's last year with the Bucs. It was only a matter of time.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Oddly enough when Parcells signed with Dallas there was talk about him looking into getting Keyshawn. Odd when you consider their relationship or lack of is what made Keyshawn leave NY.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I don't feel this would be that great a loss for Tampa. The Buccs might be able to get some draft choices back, and get a receiver with some speed.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 No...It really wouldn't be that big of a loss for Tampa. They have two other possesion WRs and decent TEs that they can rely on when they need a big catch. Tampa trading in Keyshawn for extra cap room and a cheaper speedy WR would be a good move.
Guest DrTom Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Keyshawn's been overrated his whole career. I've never seen a supposed #1 receiver drop so many passes, especially in meaningful games. If they can get come cap room, a draft choice, and a replacement at the position, I think Tampa should do the deal.
Guest Crazy Dan Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Last time I checked, it was the Buc's defense that was the strength of Tampa Bay. I have feeling that the Bucs will be ok if Meshawn goes back to Jets. I have honestly never been too impressed with him. Give me Terrel Owens, Eric Moulds, and Marvin Harrison any day of the week. Or any other receiver for that matter who doesn't talk his mouth off any chance he gets.
Guest converge241 Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 i think the jets would be stupid if they gave up the farm for him with all his drops and attitude they are better off signing conway and draft another wr
Guest jimmy no nose Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Keyshawn restructured his deal with Tampa to help their cap problem and plans to stay there and win more Super Bowls. He said the story was made up.
