Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 18, 2003 WWE wrestlers are very happy right now as the promotion has no house shows scheduled for this weekend. Other than next week's TV tapings, all focus is now being put on WrestleMania. Talent will get some time off and get to have fun during WrestleMania week at events like Axxess. Guest Johnny Blaze Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Good GOD. Could it actually be possible that Vince realized the reason all his wrestlers are getting hurt is because he's putting on too many shows?!?!?!?! Might we actually get a change for the *GASP* BETTER??
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I never got House Shows. I always found them a waste of my money and time. I mean, why go to an untelevised event?
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Vince and other promoters did far worse traveling schedules ten years ago with far fewer injuries.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I think WWE would be a lot better with NO house shows. It would certainly cut down on injuries.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I never got House Shows. I always found them a waste of my money and time. I mean, why go to an untelevised event? Do you go to indy shows? A house show is just a way to see wrestling, some people still like that sort of thing. WWE couldn't live without them really.

Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Wouldnt it be possible to keep the roster split for television, but use all the talent for house shows? That would mean different cards around the horn and also probably cut down on injury. Im sure with all the road agents they employ they could book different house shows each night. It would keep the total number of house shows but lessen the matches of workers. They could just increase pay per match since thered still be the same ammount of revenue. The ones I do go to are usually taped for later distribution..... I mean c'mon....Why pay for something I can see on TV for free? Nearly every WWE match is the same anyway, there's no reason to go see it in an arena for 30+ $$ that won't be on TV.

THat would mess with travel too much. They probably have a good system down now for where the house shows are and where the Raws and Smackdowns are.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I think WWE would be a lot better with NO house shows. It would certainly cut down on injuries. It would also cutdown big time on revenue and cause them to lose even more money.
Guest Ram Report post Posted March 19, 2003 House shows are a lot of fun. For people who don't get to go to live shows real often, the house shows make up for it partly. Nothing like a live crowd.
Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 You are fucking nuts thinking no house shows will work. If the WWF got rid of their house shows, they will lose more money. A good sign when a product is hot is that house shows are sellouts and hot. Good way to tell a promotion will die is when there are no house shows or they are only pulling in 400 in a 10,000 seat arena. What would help the WWF is to cut the total number of house shows a year by 50(25 each brand) so workers aren't so dead.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Actually, at this point house shows are making up a small portion of the touring business, like 6%. It's good during the good times, but during the hard it's better to cut back. House shows give fans a chance to see wrestling for what it is without the hoopla, gives wrestlers the opportunities to work together and practice for later matches, gives management a chance to evaluate in a less pressured environment, and gives young guys a chance to wrestle in front of a live crowd, practice, and get better. In fact, house shows are generally better than TV and I prefer them to either.
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Vince and other promoters did far worse traveling schedules ten years ago with far fewer injuries. Yeah, but that was before a lot more high risk maneuvers came in. I think it's a combination of the schedule, combined with the high impact movesets.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Off Topic...I miss ECW house shows. I've had more fun at those then any other shows I've been to.
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I agree about the ECW house shows. They got me to like guys I absolutely hated on TV like the Sandman. He sucked as a wrestler, but experiencing the entrance (before it got really, REALLY fucking old) and the whole atmosphere of his matches was crazy.

Yeah, I was never into Sandman...but him, New Jack, and Balls Mahoney could work a live crowd just as good as any WWF guy (crowd size pending)
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 19, 2003 No shit. I went to an ECW house show in 2000, and it was the best wrestling show Ive ever seen live(second place going to a WCW card in Oct 96). Sandman took his entrance to where my friends and I were standing, Corino/Victory v Dreamer/Sandman in a bloodbath, Awesome-Rhino world title match, New Jack hijinks, and met Fonzie, Jerry Lynn, Francine, and Big Dick. Very cool show

Guest godthedog Report post Posted March 19, 2003 the house shows are the only way a lot of guys get to work a live crowd & a decent length match. can you imagine how much this roster would suck if they only wrestled for 3 minutes every week? due to the match length & the more informal atmosphere, i'll take going to a house show over a tv taping any day. you get better seats for cheaper prices, & it's a great opportunity to interact with the wrestlers. (one of my friends in the second row at a show once started making fun of test for using a rear chinlock, & test yelled to him "shut up, i'm trying to call a spot!") Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Cutting out the house shows between now and WM isn't a bad idea at all. Yes, you need house shows in the long term, absolutely. But for a couple weeks before your biggest show of the year, I don't think it is a bad idea at all to let guys heal up a little bit and prepare to put on the best show possible at WM. After Wrestlemania, then you resume house show business as usual. On a semi-related note, I wouldn't expect much in the way of actual wrestling matches on Raw and Smackdown, especially involving the top level guys. It'll be promo madness as the hype machine will be in full effect for WM.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I never got House Shows. I always found them a waste of my money and time. I mean, why go to an untelevised event? It's way more fun than a live event.... no bullshit interviews, no commercial breaks...... just 2+ hours of good in-ring action with much more crowd interaction and almost every superstar on the shows roster. Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Big Dick? in 2000? It wasnt Big dick Dudley, it was big Dick Hertz. It was after he had retired but the show was in LaCrosse Wisconsin, not too far from his hometown. He was in the crowd and chatted/signed autographs/shook hands. Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Good shit. And I doubt he was expecting the reaction he got just sitting in the crowd. I bought the tape of the event from RF and still watch it every so often, very good show.
