Guest Crux Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Cast: Brad Pitt (Achilles) Eric Bana (Prince Hector of Troy) Orlando Bloom (Prince Paris of Troy) Peter O'Toole (King Priam of Troy) Sean Bean (Odysseus) Saffron Burrows (Andromache) Rose Byrne (Briseis) Julie Christie (Thetis) Brian Cox (Agamemnon) Brendan Gleeson (Menelaus) Garrett Hedlund (Patroclus); other cast not announced yet. Claire Forlani was rumored to be cast as Helen of Troy, but now Im hearing that they're casting an unknown. Premise: In 1193 B.C., Prince Paris (Bloom) of Troy stole the beautiful Greek woman, Helen, away from her husband, Menelaus, the king of Sparta, setting the two nations at war with each other, as the Greeks began a bloody siege of Troy using their entire armada, led by Achilles (Pitt), that lasted over a decade... (Bana plays Hector, the leader of the Trojan forces; Byrne plays Briseis, a Trojan slave and cousin of Hector and Paris who is given to Achilles as a gift.) Fiming was set to be in Morocco, but with the possiblity of an impending war, talks are being made about the location being moved to Spain or Baja Mexico. Thoughts?? I think it has potential--the casting of Helen of Troy can definately make or break the movie--if they cast an unknown, hopefully she isnt obviously green. I dont care for Claire Forlani's acting anyways, so if she doesnt get the part, Im happy. Hopefully, it doesnt turn out like one of those "Summer Blockbuster" kind of movies..
Guest RepoMan Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Hopefully, it will kick ass. I've been waiting for something like this sense I read the Illiad in high school, though I thought it would kick ass as an anime.
Guest starvenger Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 I bet that they're gonna omit the fact that all those warriors swung both ways, though...
Guest hardyz1 Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Sounds good. I read this in 6th grade and it would be cool to see it on film. How appropriate that Orlando Bloom plays Paris considering his character in the LOTR movies.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 I like Brad Pitt, but I just can't see him in a "Roman Epic".
Guest subliminal_animal Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Neither can I! Which is why I'm thankful he's not going to be in one!
Guest Crux Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 I bet that they're gonna omit the fact that all those warriors swung both ways, though... Eh, yeah lol. But as long as its done right, I dont think it will deter how good the movie can be.
Guest phoenixrising Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 Wow. This is something I can look forward too. As for Helen, her face was said to be the one that launched a thousand ships. Which means the unknown had better be a damned hot chick. But this movie looks cool and I'm looking forward to it.
Guest Mole Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 I can see them pulling this off, but I can also seeing it being a 'Summer Blockbuster' type of movie. Pitt can carry this.

Does Pitt really need to carry this movie though? Achilles sat out a lot of it, and unleashed hell after his boyfriend got killed in his armour. Oh, are they getting anybody to play the Greek Gods?
Guest Crux Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I havent heard anything about the gods yet.
