Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted March 19, 2003 The title is rather self-explanitory. Where did the idea for your characters come from? Yourself? TV or Movies? Comic books? History? Telling about a character's inspiration will make it a bit asier for other people to write your character. ZsasZ: I just wanted to do something different. The idea of a character who fought with his mind, and who was driven by an unkown goal that seemed rather sinister was just cool. It could work in film, in TV, in comics. It just happens to be written for an e-fed. He kinda grew out of The Man With No Name in a way. The "lone-wolf" type. He also has a bit of Patrick Bateman in him, the way everything is a mental choice for him. He could shake your hand or he could hit you over the head with a chair. He has no morals. The Gladiator: I wanted another mystery man. I also wanted to explore the simalarities between ancient Rome and professional wrestling. I also enjoy teasing that he is/was a real Gladiator. (The Highlander song, the promos) I also wanted to do a guy where the crowd will play an active role in the match. The crowd's role is simalar to Ceasar's in the Colluseum. They'll decided whther the heel has "had enough" or he should continue to suffer. I also thought a man who saw every conflict as a face-to-face battle would be an outstanding contrast to a man who sees every action as a possible backstabbing. Who fights from the shadows. Guest Big Poppa Popick Report post Posted March 19, 2003 "Big Poppa Popick" was a character that was created out of a nickname I garnered and of course my last name. The actual character began as a fun-loving carefree face...What I am trying to explore is what happens when life begins to add up its strikes against you. Case in point, he firstly tried the aWo route, was denied, and went nihlistic, trying to destroy it...Then after a period, repetantce for his guilty feelings, which has extended his face run as he tries to make up for stabbing Zack in the back...that moment is where everything began to collapse in his world Now he has done his duty as he would put it to Zack, he's been trying in the last few months to gain a religious understanding...Often times this understanding becomes warped, which is where he is headed currently In this one, we're trying to explore "what if this didn't happen" scenarios in the bible, mine is "What if Cain hadn't killed Abel?" Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 My love for blood, mostly. Here, I have the ability to do to myself what I simply am unable to do in real life. Ask me this question later, though.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Tony "The Body": This was supposed to be a mix of two of my favorite wrestlers/personalities (Jesse "The Body" Ventura & "Ravishing" Rick Rude). I didn't really write many of my promos, others did, mainly because I didn't really know how to write them. It wasn't until I helped co-write a (fan) script, last fall, that I really started to understand how to go about writing for a character. Over the past month I've become more involved than before in the writing process (promos/matches), and am very pleased with my work. If I could do it over, I would of done more in my early days writing for my character. The Purist: I got the basic idea behind The Purist (upset in the direction wrestling has gone in; anti-sports entertainment) after seeing threads - which turned into debates and flames - about former WWF/WCW; current NWA: TNA writer, Vince Russo, and his views on wrestling. I thought doing a character playing off many fans' love for Chris Benoit and Japanese wrestling, would be something fun. And it has. Now I've added well-known anti-sports entertainment/Vince Russo personality, Jim Cornette as the manager of The Purist.

Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted March 19, 2003 the j.o.b. squad gimmick: I wanted to rebel against the norm of in matches of there being dozens of german suplexes several spears and hundreds of kicks so I decided to make a wrestler without any of the filler moves and restrict myself to submision moves and highspots. the iou gimmick: When I formed a tagteam with k-ness. since the tag team was made of two noobs i desided to base the name of the team on the fact that we were two people who had not had any matches yet so therefore we woude obviosly not have matches late in the card (or so i thought) hence the name the International Orginization of Undercarders. Then I decided to evolve the gimmick into a group of people whos main desire was to appere at the bottom of the card instead of the top of the card which is the conentional thinking. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 SpiderPoet is a mixture of alot of things. My love for Technica/Cruiserweight wrestling mixed with my own love for poetry and storytelling in general, and just an enjoyment of Spider-Man. Right now I'm exploring a "fall from grace" kind of scenario with him. He's slowly losing his mind, in case nobody has noticed, and I want to take him to the bottom internally even as he makes his way to the top in his career. It's an innarestin' concept that has been very vague until I wrote this very post just now. I'm like that though. I'll shift directions entirely, or condense things into something tighter or make up something on the spot. I'm weird like that as a storyteller I guess. Don't plan very much very often. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Well, lots of JINGUS is stolen directly from Kane, obviously. Little bits of Mr. Pogo, Jason Voorhees, and the Phantom of the Opera are thrown in there too. He's basically stayed the same character over the past nine months, although he did go through that period where he was Women's Champion and got a bit, uh, effeminate. Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I made up a random name for my member name when I registered, and developed this weird fish munching masked guy from it. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I guess it doesnt show who last edited a comment Maybe its changed, but I think only Super Mods (not OAOAST Mods) can use the option of having their names appear after an edited post. At some point, we have to do a Zsasz/BPP storyline. You guys are building up a story. The OAOAST will enter the age of reality storylines, just like Vince Russo would like. Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Thank you for the nice words BPP and Zsasz! Actually, I do like the ideas behind Zsasz's Gladiator character. A guy whose actions are almost controlled by the reactions of the crowd, is pretty interesting. Definite room for character development and inner conflict. A little more on my character, Most of my friends are girls. Over time I just picked up on their way of speaking and general attitudes. I've also never had much of a problem making people laugh

If he was here I'm sure he would be thrilled. FUCK Russo and that's all I got to say about that !!!! OMG~! RUSSO RULZ DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD~! Hmmmm, all the OAOAST characters/gimmicks I've done, eh? ol' skool evenflowDDT - straight Raven rip-off. With the flannel and everything. WITH RAVEN AS MANAGER~ Scott Levy would be ashamed of having a fan who shamelessly ripped him off so much In Crowd evenflowDDT - I always wanted to be a cocky preppy in real life, despite heavily disliking such characters (or rather, the stereotypes of them, since I've only met a couple - who embodied the majority of those stereotypes, unfortunately) in reality. So, I played a cocky preppy who could back up what he said, which would make me hate the real cocky preppies less. It was fun, but hard to keep fresh. I give Zack and later Superstar ALL the credit for keeping the In Crowd going as long as it did and still making it a ton of fun. It worked so well that I talk to them online all the time (OK, I'm not on AIM that much, but, y'know) and consider them true friends that I'd love to save up and fly out to see some day. Repentant evenflowDDT - OK, this was something I wanted to try around the time of "the end" between my long-running feud with Sandman and the King of the Deathmatch tournament, where basically I had this martyr personality and didn't want to hurt anyone. I thought it'd be interesting, but somehow not wrestling doesn't work too well on a wrestling show. I know. Ingrate fans w/ no respect for a deep character... Freaky Pseudo-Religious evenflowDDT - This is an extension of Repentant evenflowDDT, and they both sorta meshed together in the beginning. I started to make non-specific dark religious and spiritual allusions. It also began establishing myself as crazy, and I started to distance myself from Zack and Alison as I tried to regain a foothold on reality. Just when you thought it was safe... THE GOLEM~! - My vision of a religious heel. It worked so well on paper. The only problem? I was a face. Whoops. I also didn't really take the time to research specific biblical passages and references, but it worked out really well for about a week or so, unfortunately, I let it "degrade" from specific references/foreboding maniacal evil stuff to "I wasn't created in the image of man, and share not his fallible soul, thus I am perfect in the image of God", which was essentially the same promo every week. I had originally gotten the idea of The Golem not just from Jewish folklore, but also from an essay I read in my Muppet Magic class by Heinrich Kleist about the Uber-Marionette... basically he goes off for 30 pages on how emotion ruins human acting performances and theorizes that the greatest performance in the history of theatre would be put on by 5-foot puppets, the uber-marionettes, because they could be perfect whereas a human's performance will always be marred by his emotion. Weird. Also, as face, I envisioned the idea that I'd be more like The Golem of Jewish folklore, where I'd be the "protector" of the Jews in the ghetto (the OAOASTers) against their oppressors (the aWo), but I never really got around to talking to anyone about it so that never worked either. HEEEEEEEEEL evenflowDDT - This is where I revealed, SWERVE~! that it was really OAOAST jobber James Blonde in The Golem suit and I was playing everyone for suckers. I had simply taken longer to recover, that's all. I also began to become a prick and, embellishing too much in my riches, eventually alienated my best friend Zack, who was putting a lot of energy into finally winning the title. But we were still together, until... Royal Rumble heel split evenflowDDT - Zack ATTACKS~! I don't want to fight Zack at the Royal Rumble because he's still my friend, but there ends up being a skirmish between us and he eliminates me. I demand an explanation, and get so worked up over it that I lose Alison, end the long-running friendship between myself and Zack, and due to a fluke, lose all my money. As Zack goes on to glory and main-eventing Anglemania, I let my hatred of him grow and become the best at me such that I can't even win a match anymore and don't even sign up for a match at the PPV. Yet, at the same time, it's very subtly suggested that despite my blaming him for my current misfortunes, that I still wouldn't really fight Zack if given the chance. It's more or less like I just want him to admit he was wrong, but I think now it's gone too far for that. It's also (much less subtly) apparent that my grip on reality/sanity is slipping again. How low can you go? How much can one lose and still remain faithful? Guess we'll just have to wait and see... The many faces of evenflow! Now then, a couple that never were, and maybe will be... Punk Princess - the infamously lame trolling fake identity that I think I posted as once or twice in the thread. CWM, the great mod, immediately edited each post to say "I AM EVENFLOWDDT" (though I think alfdogg edited one with an Arnold Schwarzenegger "Shut the fuck up" gheypeg), so that didn't work. Not that I ever would've wanted it to. And then this ID got banned. James Blonde - This is an idea I've been kicking around, so I could have a character on HeldDOWN~! that I could have a lot of fun with. I like the serious stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's so much easier and satisfying to write a comedy match like I've been doing recently in the thread or the Sandman9000/evenflowDDT Bra & Panties match. I could go the obvious route of a James Bond-ish parody character, but I was thinking more along the lines of a jobber trying to establish himself as "I'm not a joke!" only to become... a joke. Maybe I could turn him into a "cocky despite always losing" nature heel like early MATTITUDE~! But I'm not really sure. Oh yea, you know as soon as I get a job I'll start saving Zack Edited March 20, 2003 by evenflowDDT
