Memories of first live event

Recommended Posts

Guest Star Ocean 3

WCW house show at the Forum, main event was Hollywood Hogan vs. Sting in a cage. I was bowing during Hogan's entrance, and he pointed at me from the top of the cage.

There was a fun cruiserweight match, and a Goldberg one, too.

Ric Flair also wrestled, and the match featured a spot where his bare ass was shown...

Just thought I'd ask if anyone would have photographs of these cards? I'm looking for more shots to add to what I have thus far - the earliest thus far being from 1993.

A Night to Remember - Boston, MA - Boston Garden - May 13, 1995

The Heavenly Bodies defeated the Bushwhackers

Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Phil Apollo

Man Mountain Rock defeated Kwang

Bret Hart & the British Bulldog defeated Hakushi & Jerry Lawler when Bret forced Lawler to submit to the Sharpshooter

WWF IC Champion Jeff Jarrett defeated Razor Ramon in a ladder match; Razor grabbed the title belt but the referee was knocked out; the Roadie attacked Razor, handed the belt to Jarrett to show the ref, and he retained the title

The Undertaker defeated Kama

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Tatanka

WWF World Champion Diesel defeated Psycho Sid

Phil Apollo- the first of many ;)

Anyways, I quit my job to go to my very first WWF show back in April 2001. MY ex girlfriend's aunt was taking her (despite the fact she was barely a wrestling fan, only because of me) and some unknown fellow our age was going as well. My jealousy/overprotectiveness kicked in and I went down to see them, and I remember convertign the mark children into complete smarks. It was on the road to Wrestlemania X-7 in 2001, at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, CA. This was the beginning of the "X-Factor" (anyone remember that stable? Albert, Justin Credible, and X-Pac)These are the matches I remember...

Haku vs. Benoit- Noone cared about this match except for me. As a matter of fact, the Anaheim crowd is downright lame.

HHH vs. Kane, Big Show came in an interfered allowing HHH to hit the Pedigree for the win. I marked for HHH's entrance, it is cool to see live.

STEVE AUSTIN VS KURT ANGLE~!!! Yes, I saw their very first meeting. At least on TV. Major markout moment for the match, and the Rock came down for commentary. Stunenrs for everyone Austin picked up the win.

I remember Chris Jericho wrestling somebody but I marked out so much for Y2J I completely forgot who he wrestled.

An interesting note- Of all 3 WWE/WWF events I've been to, Kurt Angle has been in every single main event and Chris Benoit has won every match. A smark's dream, indeed.

But WM X-Seven was not in April of 2001... the anaheim show was in March 2k1 (I was there), and I remember the highlights being:

Eddy vs Benoit (awesome match)

Rock vs Angle (very good too)

and then Stone Cold comes out and stunners them both, stunning Rock for the first time during their feud leading to Wrestlemania.

ANYWAY~!, my very first event was in November 99. The Test and Stephanie wedding. ahhh <3

I had just turned 9, and had been watching for about 16 months at that point. They had come nearby before, but this was the first time I actually went, after my parents decided to take me. My mother has been a wrestling fan about as long as I have.

Two days earlier Hercules had an autograph signing at Oshawa Centre that I went to and since this was the first time I had ever met a wrestler in person I was pretty hyped for this show. Jack Tunney & Billy Red Lyons would make various appearances throughout the show, as they always did in Canada.

The results...

Rick Martel d. Tito Santana

I hated Tito as a kid, so I was quite happy about this one.

Dino Bravo d. Hercules

Bravo cheated by hanging on to the ropes as Herc went for a sunset flip from the outside. Not too happy about this one.

The Bushwhackers d. The Brainbusters

I still don't understand this. The Bushwhackers pretty much squash them and then toss Blanchard on Arn for the pin. How Arn can be pinned by his own partner is beyond me.

Greg "The Hammer" Valentine d. "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin

I don't even remember this match.

Mr. Perfect fought Bret Hart to a 20 minute draw

Bret got the biggest face heat of the night which surprised me. Canada always loved the guy. Bret had Perfect beat (for the first time ever), but the time limit ran out. This was the best live match I had seen up until 2000.

Paul Roma d. Boris Zhukov

The crowd shit on this match after the last one. Very loud boring chants. I wonder why they just didn't do Stallions/Bolsheviks.

WWF Champion Hulk Hogan d. "Macho Man" Randy Savage

Usual 1989 match from these guys. Decent and fun. Hogan beats up Sherri & finishes with the usual. I still don't know why it wasn't the main, considering Hogan won. This is the only time I have seen Hogan win. Every other time I've seen him he's been on job duty.

WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition d. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers

The Rougeaus were traitors at this point, and thus hated. I still loved them though. Jimmy Hart gets involved towards the end, but Demos still win with the Decapitation.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts d. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase

This was the match I came to see. This is just prior to the Dibiase injures Jake's neck angle. Even I could tell the finish a mile away as they set up a chair outside prior to the match. Sure enough, Dibiase is DQd for nailing Roberts with the chair. Virgil gets the Damien treatment.

End of show.

I think we must have seen the show on the same tour. That was the EXACT match listing at the first show I ever went to. I remember the day it came to Sacramento was Mother's Day and all my family was out eating dinner at some fancy place while me and my dad were at WWF wrestling. I had no idea either, he just told me to get into the car cause he had a suprise for me. Hahaha...I was so happy.

My first ever event I had to go to Edmonton for a really important doctor's appointment and my friends were goin' up to see Smackdown after they drove from Calgary, after seeing RAW. I got a a ticket from them and all I can remember is Kane's pyro was sooo hot,the Hardyz lost to RTC, I think Angle went over Jericho but I'm not sure and Chris Benoit gave Austin 10 germans!! being part of a 'Holy Shit' chant is 1000000 times better than hearing one on tv. I also thought there was gonna be a riot when Austin beat Benoit with a cheezy little rollup/school boy thingy. It was up to that point the gretest night of my life.

Hello!

A few questions...

There is a chance to get the WWE here in Mexico, but I want to know...

What do you think they will get down here, I mean, stuff, shirts, tapes, etc.?

You think they will bring some kind of mini Axxess show?

I know, the WWE is going in 2 different teams, Raw & SD, you think they will bring both teams here?

Thanx.

The Raw after Rumble 94 with the coin toss with Bret and Luger. In fact, I have it on tape somewhere.

There had to be more to it than that. They usually taped a good 3-4 weeks worth in one night.

I barely remember anything else if there was anything else since I was 7 then.

Found it.

WWF @ Bushkill, PA - Fernwood Resort - January 31, 1994

Monday Night Raw taping:

Randy Savage & Lex Luger defeated WWF World Champion Yokozuna & Crush

Doink the Clown defeated Bam Bam Bigelow

Randy Savage defeated WWF World Champion Yokozuna via disqualification

Bret Hart defeated Shawn Michaels

1/31/94:

Marty Jannetty (w/ the 1-2-3 Kid) pinned Johnny Polo

Bam Bam Bigelow pinned Miguel Rosado

Kwang pinned Rich Myers with a kick

Earthquake pinned Corey Student with the sit-down splash

2/7/94:

The Smoking Gunns defeated Barry Horowitz & Reno Riggins

Owen Hart defeated John Paul with the Sharpshooter

IRS pinned Marty Jannetty

Sparky Plugg pinned Duane Gill

Crush defeated Todd Mata

Why the hell don't I remember all that damnit?

I do remember Men on a Mission though...

My fisrt live event I barely recall because I was younger, but the most recent is surely not one I will forget. It was a Smackdown during the Rock's fued with Shane or something. I don't know all the angles that happened. But I loved it because I finally saw Benoit, Jericho and the Dudleys live.

But the real reason I won't ever forget it is because I got kicked out of the event at the last second. Rock was about to Rockbottom Shane through the announce table and I wanted a shot of it, so I ran up the aisle (i was row 5 behind the announcers) and tried to get a shot. The secuirty guy pushed me back, but I ignored him and shot my pic (it didn't even come out). I went for another one, but he grabed my shirt, so I swiped his arm away. This made him mad, me madder and I said (in all my 17 yeard old glory at the time) "Don't touch me you fucking bitch." And off I went, thrown out of the arena. The best is as I got out the doors, the guy actually PUSHED me from behind. Then some lady handed me a bag of Corn Nuts and I waited for my friends.

:)

Valcourt

was this at staples center by any chance? cuz Im thinking of the sd there in august 2001 like 2 weeks before summerslam, where jericho was gored through the old sd set by rhyno. i was there , seated by the entrance, but up a long way .

anyways my first live show was an MSG show in November 91 (i believe) I think This was the sat after survivor series but before tuesday in texas so taker was champ (but not on this card sadly-I didnt get to see him live until the aforementioned sd in LA) but im not sure

matches I recall are

el matador def kato (orient express)

IC Champ Bret Hart def The Mountie

Texas Tornado def Berzerker by c/0 (or it might be the other way around-hey I was 8 at the time)

Ric Flair def Hulk Hogan (i think flair used a foregin object, and pinned him , sorry don't really recall-how sad)

Nasty Boys def Rockers in last match- afterwards rockers got in a shoving match (this was during the breakup tease right before HBK turned Heel)

Best live show had to be Unforgiven 2002

I was on the floor 12 rows behind Tazz/Cole

Angle/Benoit in all its glory and the crowd was actually into it

Yeah, no problem. It is similar enough to get them confused.
