Does anyone still care about the new trilogy? Are you looking forward to the new movie? What was your excitment level for Episode one compared to your excitment level for Episode Three?

I'll watch because in true mark fashion I hold out hope that Lucas will put together something good. But my enthusiasm for Episode 3 is much different than that of Episode 1. I saw Episode 1 on the first day. I saw episode 2 about a week after it opened. Episode 3 I'll probably watch as a Saturday matinee after a week or two. Basically it's no longer a "must watch ASAP" film...

I'll be there for the Geek showing of 12:01 after midnight on technical opening day. I had so much fun seeing Ep II that way, and since I think I figured out:

WARNING: POSSIBLE EPISODE III SPOILER DERIVED FROM INFORMATION IN EPISODE II. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Master Syphodeus (sp?) is Count Dooku

This may have been figured out by most people if I'm right, but I figured I'd spoilerize it since I had to explain it out to my friends.

Anyway, since I think i figured that out, I'm truly interested in how the story plays out. I didn't see anything horrible about Ep II, myself. I just don't think people were prepared to see an intricate political plot being set forth that's being played out on multiple levels. Which isn't an insult, I just think alot of people had their hearts set on pure action and adventure with some twists thrown in. *shrugs*

I will be happy if Anakin goes Vader early on in the movie and just starts killing people.

That is what I want because I don't know how they are going to fill in the HUGE void inbetween him becoming evil at the END of the movie all the way up unto the beginning of A New Hope.

The whole point of the story is too fill in that gap I thought.

I marked in Ep II when we first get to see that little mean streak (you know what I'm talking about).

Was never a big fan of Star Wars at all, especially with the recent movies which look a 2 hour commercial for toys and various merchandise rather than a quality film worthy all of the hype.

I cannot understand how people can stand in line for the movie weeks in advance.

I'm another mark. I fucking can't wait for Ep. 3. I will admit though that Ep. 1 was downright horrible. I thoroughly enjoyed Ep. 2. The DVD is fucking great.

Yeah. I guess that's all I have to add to this conversation.

Episode II was horribly written. It hardly covered any ground. The thing people want to see the most is Anakin turning into Vader. By the end of Ep II, he's still a whiny, angry kid with a metal arm. Episode III has to cover so much. Anakin turning completely evil, turning into Vader, killing off the rest of the Jedi, the Emporer coming into power, creating the empire, the creation of the rebellion, the building of the Death Star. In order for Lucas to properly show half that stuff, it's going to have to be 4 hours long. I don't know how he can write himself out of the hole he has created.

I would rather not see the creation of the rebellion and the Death Star myself. From what I gather it is 20 to 30 years between this one and Episode IV, and those two things seem too recent in A New Hope to have happened in Ep. 3.

Yeah, it's my feeling Ep. 3 leaves off w/ dual images of the twins being born (meaning there's an like 18 year gap between Ep. 3 and ANH) and Anakin donning the Vader suit.

AOTC > TPM, but both pale in comparison to the original trilogy.

I agree. The movie will most likely end with the birth of the kids. Anakin will probably be Vader for the last 20-30 minutes of the movie. He'll do something really cruel and then we'll see the babies had been born. This way you end with a little love/hate kind of theme. At least I would go for that.

As for the movie being 4 hours, honestly I wouldn't complain.

I just want a good hour or so of Anakin just killing everyone. Make me feel the evil that was Vader.

I don't think that a judgement can be passed on the writing of Episode II. It's the middle of a larger story, a larger complex, political story as well as a larger story of multiple character arcs. Once III is here and you can plug the two together, then the decision can be made on whether it actually served it's purpose, IMO.

Victim 1:  Jar-Jar

Watching Vader just destroy Jar Jar would be worth price of admission alone

And was there a reason why Anakin turned into Vader? I always assumed something happened to Amidala that sends him over the edge....

I'm not a hardcore fan, so I'm not sure.

I think all that's ever been said in the films is that Anakin turned to the darkside. Why he has the suit has been speculated about but I don't know what Lucas is going to do with it. I think it's safe to assume that something is going to pretty much mutilate him at some point since he needs the robot body and the respirator and all.

It looks like, internally, Anakin has alot of emotional and abandonment issues to deal with. Alot of anger and such that seems to be building to a swell. A swell that may ultimately drown him in the darkside.

SPOILER: According to what I have read at sites like www.episodeii.com Anakin and Obi-Wan have a final showdown where Obi-Wan basically nearly kills ANakin, which is why he needs the suit in the Original trilogy. I also read James Earl Jones has done some voice recordings already for the "Vader in the suit" dialouge.

This isn't a spoiler, this was stated back when the first movie came out in 1977. The only way that it could surprise anyone is if they don't go the "Anakin fought Obi-Wan and got hideously deformed by a volcano" route.

Quite frankly, I love this trilogy so far. I liked Episode I, I LOVED Episode II, and I'm insanely jacked to see Episode III. Episode II cannot be judged until III comes out though, because, like V, it plays better with the next chapter immediately following it, whereas both I and IV seem to have been written with endings based on how successful they were. Episode I was the worst Star Wars movie yet, but what does that make it, honestly? Merely an above-average movie? I'd personally put II right behind V as the best so far.

I feel the build for Anakin turning into Vader has been superb so far, so much that I'm excited to see where it goes, even though I know what's going to happen. It's a testament to the success of this trilogy when we know very well how everything ends up, but we feel compelled to see how they get to their destination.

I agree, I actually like Episode I more in connection with Episode II. The theater I saw Episode II with loved it much more than the audience I saw Episode I with.

As for Episode III, ending of Clone Wars, Palpatine cements power, Jedi's Obi-Wan, Windu and Yoda make one last attempt to stop Palpatine's coup, Luke & Leia are born, hidden from Anikan, Anikan goes darkside, he and Obi-Wan fight, he turns into Vader, Amidala dies/Annikan thinks she dies, Luke given to Owen and Beru on Tatooine The END.

The hard part is okay, Leia remmembers her mother, BUT when she says mother does she mean Amidala or who she thought was her mother? Cause if she does remmember her then she must not have died until Leia was like 3. And they lived on Alderan, which means she must've married Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) But if Alderan was a player in the Empire, then wouldn't Vader notice his ex-wife on Alderan with a baby daughter?

Just remember though - in 1977, Greedo shot first. George Lucas will retcon things as he sees fit.

Case in point - Episode 3 was to have a lot of stuff on the Clone Wars. Now, we're just gonna see the end of it in the movies, and the bulk of the Clone Wars will be told in an Expanded Universe story arc similar to the New Jedi Order one. Which, frankly, is fine by me, since guys like Zahn, Allston and Stackpole do a great job in their novels.

I agree. Vader is suppossed to be a ruthless villain, I want to see him truly live up to his rep.

As for Ep. III, I also can't wait for it. Make it 3 or 4 hours, whatever, bring it on! I'll always be a SW mark.

Talk about total markout moment.

I think Luke and Leia are born before Anakin turns completely evil.

I think the last image of the movie will be Vader's mask and breathing.

I'm not sure what they'll do about Amidala. It would insanely suck if they killed her off to put Anakin over the edge. That would be horrible and riots would ensue. You just don't kill Natalie Portman. I've heard that she's filming / has filmed scenes for the Return of the Jedi special edition DVD (in flashback scenes).

I LOVED Ep. II. I was okay but lacked depth (and a script). II made up for it with the theme of looming evil and the love affair.

As far as how Ep. III will end...

It's been well documented that Sam Jackson is going to bite the dust in a bad ass fight scene. I'm going to assume that will be with Anakin / Vader. Jar Jar must die as well. It can go like this...

"Jar Jar, can you come in here?"

"Yessa, Massa Anni"

*Jar Jar walks in ... Anakin chops his head off with the lightsaber ... head rolls into camera view, with tongue hanging out and eyes open*

I've imagined for years that the final scene will be Anakin getting the helmet - but it should be more to it than that. Luke has to be hidden on Tatooine, Leia has to be hidden with Bail Organa, Yoda has to escape to Daegoba (although that may not need to be shown). Remember, in the film Vader didn't learn about Leia until RotJ - so he's obviously not around when Amidala gives birth.

I heard that James Marsters from BTVS may get to play a young Moff Tarkin which would completely rule the school.

Man just talking about it makes me a happy geek. Seriously. I have a feeling that Ep. 3 is going to be FULL of markout moments. I'll never forget how the theater I was in reacted towards the end of Ep. II when THE MAN arrives to DUEL. and you KNOW who I'm talking about. It was like being at a RAW. EVERYBODY started cheering and marking out, I kid you not. for the whole thing. It was great.
